:worthy: http://files.digitalcombatsimulator.com/ru/22722/2 points

Please use Sysinternals Junction instead as that tool works fine with ModMan. For example. The command.... junction c:\LockOnFC2-MOD\Movies e:\Movies ...creates a Movies folder in the FC2 root folder on my small but fast system disk that really resides on my huge storage disk E. PLEASE READ FIRST FOR MOUNT POINT: If you are using ModMan with your SIM, then adding "Mount Point" will stop ModMan from loading. To load ModMan you need to remove the "Mount Points" again. This is Microsoft’s way to easily solve disk space limits but it has quite a few positive side effects for us gamers. If you for instance want files to be created on a completely other place than the default folder, for example the current limits to change Movies creation place. This technique also works well with the games TEMP folder if you plan to set up a dedicated server. This guide is given without any responsibility from my side whereas your use of it. The description from Microsoft to this feature is: Assign a mount point folder path to a drive Applies To: Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2 You can use Disk Management to assign a mount-point folder path (rather than a drive letter) to the drive. Mount-point folder paths are available only on empty folders on basic or dynamic NTFS volumes. Backup Operator or Administrator is the minimum membership required. To assign a mount-point folder path to a drive by using the Windows interface 1. In Disk Manager, right-click the partition or volume where you want to assign the mount-point folder path, and then click Change Drive Letter and Paths. 2.Do one of the following: To assign a mount-point folder path, click Add. Click Mount in the following empty NTFS folder, type the path to an empty folder on an NTFS volume, or click Browse to locate it. To remove the mount-point folder path, click it and then click Remove.* This works with all versions of LOMAC, FC1, FC2 and DCS series. How to create a new Movies mount point: Make sure your “Movies” folder is empty in the DCS A-10C. Find your way to Windows 7 Disk Management. Select one disk (if not empty all the folders will appear in your Movies folder also) Right click the disk where you want to store movies (J: in my example) and select “Change Drive Letter and Paths”. This window should appear: Now click Add and select the “DCSA10C\Movies” folder as a new mount point for the selected disk and click “OK” when done. You should now be able to create files in the “DCSA10C\Movies” that will show up on your other disk. In fact all files created in the DCS Movies folder is created on the other disk :D Enjoy ;) (HJ)2 points

leafer there's no one answer to your question. Every airfield will have its own procedures. The departure and arrival procedures will specify a track, altitude restrictions, and, maybe, airspeed requirements. The track can be defined by TACAN or INS between waypoints with altitude limits at various waypoints. There may be a visual ground track in lieu of an instrument procedure. The visual departure and arrival is more expeditious and permits more aircraft to fit into the air space. It also has the benefit of denying an enemy navigation aids like TACAN to attack your base. In a combat zone they would be turned off if there was a threat and you would have to fly by reference to the ground or INS. Arrival is much the same. There is usually an instrument arrival to an instrument approach or a "gate" where you can join the visual traffic pattern. The visual pattern is defined locally by a track, altitudes, and required airspeeds. The overhead pattern is one you should learn. I won't go into it now since it is more complex than I have time to explain. A copy of the A-10 Dash 1 can give you a hint about what it is if not a good idea of how to actually fly it. There are several guys around who can clue you in if you really are interested. The Dash 1 has some other good information. For instance: Standard climb speed is 200 KIAS minus 1 knot per 1000' above sea level (MSL) Single engine best climb speed is 170 KIAS minus 1 knot per 1000' above sea level (MSL) clean and varies with gear down or flaps down by minus 10 knots for each Cruise speeds and altitudes are dependent on a number of variables. There are charts to pick an optimum altitude and airspeed/mach based on gross weight, drag index, and atmospheric conditions of temperature and wind. For the kind of flying done in the sim 200-300 KIAS is fine as there is seldom any reason to be precise. I'd suggest you pick something, say 250 KIAS, and learn to maintain, as well as a specific altitude, it at all times you're not blowing up stuff or getting shot at. Max range cruise is ~15.6 units of AOA IRL but I don't know how close it is in the sim. There's something to play with... Takeoff and landing speeds are dependent on temperature, pressure altitude, gross weight, and drag index. Generally, rotating to takeoff pitch attitude at 120 KIAS and holding it until you fly off the ground works quite well. Similarly, maintaining 150 KIAS until you extend the gear and flaps works fine. Approach speed with full flaps can vary from 110 to 160 KIAS depending on weight. Flying the AOA indexer is the best technique. Note the airspeed where you get the green donut and keeping that speed works fine. There's a start for you. The best I can tell you is to set your own parameters and practice them until you can make the aircraft go where you want at the airspeeds and altitudes you choose. Its all a matter of building the discipline and skill to make the jet do what you want it to do.2 points

RW procedure (when I was in the AF) Position lights (nav red/green) on anytime power is applied to aircraft. This notifies all ground personnel that control surfaces could move without warning. In some cases, I've seen it amended to "just prior to engine start" until engine shut down. Aircraft that have a "beacon" usually apply nav lights upon any power (apu/battery etc) then prior to engine start, the beacon will be activated and used until engine shut down. Strobes are only activated when rolling onto the runway for take-off, and only in flight when not in formation, and not during any significant cloud cover due to the flash back off of cloud surfaces. Strobes off upon leaving the runway upon landing. (don't think this has changed) Nav/position lights flash/steady I've seen a variation of it's usage at different bases, however when an aircraft is remaining in the pattern ie: touch and go's, I've seen alot go to flash then on steady out of the area in normal flight ops. As for lights "out" operation, that has recently changed, and I have NO idea what the SOP is for that. I do imagine active theater would be common sense lights out however.. I'm sure other's have seen a variation of usages. Just my two cents for FYI.1 point

Thanks for bringing this one back to the front again! I had it years ago, but it didn't run very well. Now with all the patching done and new hardware it has become a real gem. I even bought it a second time now, due to this thread, cause I can't find my old disk after moving homes. It's a great example of how some games can mature very VERY well!1 point

You will usually have to fit your speed/climb speed to your CDU-requested IAS in missions with given TOTs. You could also find yourself in a mission where you'd additionally have to take fuel burn into acoount also. I'd say besides a minimum safe climb speed there are not too many procedure-side-restrictions on how you would climb rather than mission-timing/threat-related factors. Finally all depends on the mission builder and the pilot(s) how far they want this thing to go. At least there are enough tables, charts and numbers available, to do some hardcore realistic flight planning, taking into acount stuff like weight, weather, loadout-drag, TOT, fuel capacities, changes in grossweight after dropping ordnance,...1 point

SIDS and STARS are followed and the climb rates are up to the crews, but if they are less than AIM standard ATC must be told. Once the crews reach the MOA or Range thay are working, they are "Cleared Tactical" and work the mission via the assistance of other Assets (AWACS, JSTARS, GCI etc) The speed rules that apply to civilian aircraft don't really apply to fighters as there is a caveat in the AIM and the ATC regs that states crews may flight higher speeds if needed for mission accomplishment to include training.1 point

I'd assume climb at Vx/Vy, whichever is needed, using an instrument departure most likley, unless working in say a restricted area/moa like the areas around nellis. TACAN/INS navigation to waypoints, and boom!1 point

Have you read the JTAC section in the flight manual starting at page 640? The most simplified way I can put it is: Contact JTAC and check-in. Wait for the 9-line to finish and after a short pause, they will say "advise when ready for remarks and further talk-on" Use the radio to say you're ready for remarks After receiving remarks, use the radio to provide the 9-line readback. JTAC will confirm readback okay, and say 'standby data'. You'll then receive a message on both MFCDs saying NEW TASKING; acknowledge this with the ack OSB at the bottom right or TMS LEFT SHORT. On your TAD, you will have a WILCO and a CNCMP option on the left and right. Use the WILCO option to accept the tasking. You'll see a red triangle on the TAD. Make the TAD the SOI, use the throttle slew control to put the cursor over the triangle, use TMS UP SHORT to hook the triangle, and then TMS UP LONG to make it the SPI. Use CHINA HAT FWD LONG to slew everything to the SPI (i.e. location of that triangle). At this point, your targeting pod will pointing at the coordinates the JTAC provided. Use it to locate the precise position of your target(s). Exactly how you prosecute the attack depends on the type of control in effect and how the target is marked; I'd suggest reading page 642 at the very least. If you just go in guns blazing without following procedure your JTAC will tell you to abort.1 point

What did you expect if you are fully loaded; try the same with the flanker and don't get me started with the mig-29 which is provably the worst since it has small sweet spots unlike the eagle. You are not flying the eagle as it is supposed to; you keep your energy; you use your power advantage and stay high if you can. if you go to a dogfight carring your 3 fuel tanks and 100%fuel and still expect to spank a lightly loaded mig you are not doing it right. The eagle actually shakes a lot when fling low due to its low wing-loading and shape. It is not like you can't fight low; it is that you need to know your stuff because the su-27 has better turn performance down low if lightly loaded. What f-15 pilots like about the eagle is not that it is the best at everything; it is that it is the best balanced fighter;it is not like the older migs; that give you good turn performance for dogfight but low tech radar, not so good missiles and poor situational awareness. Add to the mix that americans provably already know how to jam early mig-29s and su-27s since they got first hand info from a soviet spy(if I'm not mistaken the guy was executed) it may not turn the best down low but it turn better than most fighters; it excels high and has better weapons than most fighters.1 point

I've just added Android support for my control app. It is very much like touchbuddy, but somewhat simpler to use and set up. It also has advanced features like auto mapping of buttons of any shape and such. It has complete, 2 way networking support (LAN, WiFi or even internet), too. I'm still adding functionality and preparing an iOS version of it. If you have ideas for features, just let me know. Here are some videos: You can get the free trial from here: http://www.sto-advanced.com/yhtk/1 point

I hope you got sorted it out Wolf. I know that many people that actually know the answer don't post because they don't have time to find the next question, and that's ok. What if that people post a fast answer to the question and if they're correct they pass the baton saying something like 'the next one choose'. Then someone post the next question. That would make the thread more dynamic. What do you think? Ok, name this aircraft :)1 point
