VAICOM version 1 was a free product that relied exclusively on VoiceAttack scripting to emulate keystroke operation of the DCS comms menus. (It also relied on certain mods to DCS itself.) VAICOM 2 (also called VAICOM PRO) was a commercial product that replaced the VoiceAttack scripting with a plugin module for VoiceAttack. That version eliminated keystroke emulation and instead used direct communication between the plugin and the internal DCS code. This change vastly simplified the interface between VAICOM and VoiceAttack while greatly expanding the functionality of VAICOM. For example it added extensions that allowed one to communicate with Jester in the F-14 using voice commands. Last year VAICOM PRO stopped working upon the release of DCS version 2.8. Rather than update it, the developer released the code to the community for further development. Volunteers took up the task of updating the code. The Community Edition resulted from that, and is the current version. So it is similar to the commercial version (which is no longer available or supported) but is a free community supported program that works with the latest version of DCS. If you want the latest you should go the the VAICOM PRO Community Edition channel on Discord, or go to the Github page directly. Do not try to use VAICOMPRO.com, which is no longer active.5 points

Here is a project I did a long time ago for IL-2's career mode. It is all the unit emblems. If you were curious about which squadron to start, this is a resource you can browse. *This is my intellectual property, so don't worry. Other RAF / RAAF / RCAF emblems I have made A localized close-up view of RCAF No.441 SQN.4 points

Hey Colinflyboy, Unfortunately, I don't. 100% of the models I create are in 3DS Max 2022. Hey Bemme, thanks for the suggestion but I try to keep the naming convention as close to a real ship's name as possible. If you would like the naming convention and or name changed to a specific way please follow Ggrewe's suggestions below. Also, guys just keep in mind I'm trying not to copy or emulate Current's work. Current is a great modder but one thing we don't like doing as modders is copying someone else's work. However, I do speak to him when it comes to weapon scripting and so forth. Also just know I can't cater to everyones suggestions and there seems to be a lot lately. Thanks.4 points

During research I've found numerous sources calling the included missile 3M54T (while the 3M54K is the sub launched version). But I have also found sources the other way around, so I had to settle for something in the end. The version included is suppose to be the VLS ship launched version with a supersonic second stage. But since DCS doesn't allow me to have two different speeds I had to make it go supersonic all the way. What's the 22560? I've never heard of it? Thanks for the suggestion! It's already on the list.4 points

Short answer is that I get to fly the F-15C, Su-27/J-11, Su-25 and Mig-29. The odds of us getting a full-fidelity Su-27 or J-11 are near zero right now so the FC3 platforms are a nice substitute. The F-15C is still quite deadly and I like having the extended legs and ability to pick and chose fights without worrying too much about fuel.4 points

Magnetic anomaly detectors can be used for very accurate navigation; detecting submarines is not their only use. Combined with the world magnetic model and potentially some other inputs, recognition of where the aircraft is located as compared with the WMM could yield accuracy similar to GPS, or at least reasonably constrain INS drift.4 points

Half the training time of strike eagles is air to air. And we have and are tasked quite frequently, and more in recent times with air to air roles. If the mission doesn’t specifically require a precision strike role, F-15Es will load up 7x1 or 6x2 just like a C model and perform air to air as a primary mission.4 points

I think historically the one AXIS plane with the most prestige missing here is the Japanese Zero. Afterall the war was fought in the Pacific & actually got the US to declare War on Japan after a " Day that will live in infamy " ! Many of the crucial battles in WW2 when it comes to airpower was fought in the Pacific. I'm a little biased towards it as my father RIP - fought in the jungles of New Guinea. He had malaria 2 times & remember how they pulled names out of a hat to see WHO would go home ? Dad was one of the lucky winners. His unit was supposed to go to Iwa Jima soon after his name ws pulled. He came home to Chicago married my mother but had been recovering from his 2nd malaria bout during the wedding. They were married 65 years before my mother passed. cfs2_ zero on fire 2.bmp3 points

I recently encountered a frustrating problem with my Warthog HOTAS device preventing my monitors from entering sleep mode, even when my computer was idle. As someone who prefers to leave my PC on, this issue resulted in the screens staying active, lowering the lifespan of my monitors and consuming unnecessary power. Despite attempting to update drivers and firmware, I couldn't find a direct solution. To overcome this issue, I created a PowerShell script that enables and disables the Warthog HOTAS device on demand. By leveraging two separate scheduled tasks, I could automatically disable the device when the computer is locked and re-enable it when the user logs in. GitHub Repository: https://github.com/royborgen/HOTAS_Enable_Disable I'm sharing this script as I believe many others may be facing similar challenges with their Warthog HOTAS device. It provides a practical and automated approach to regain control over screen sleep functionality, ultimately saving power, improving the lifespan of the monitors, and preventing unnecessary screen activity. If you're encountering this issue or want to ensure efficient screen power management while extending the lifespan of your monitors, I encourage you to check out the script on GitHub. Feel free to customize and adapt it to suit your specific needs. Let's solve this problem together!3 points

The 4SP/4SW loadout was the only loadout for fighter missions (that is everything that did not include fleet air defense against bombers and strikers) up until the mid/late 80s. It was believed that the Sparrow provided enough of an advantage in the BVR arena against anything the USSR and its allies would field. The Phoenix on the other hand was considered too valuable to be expanded against fighters. It was not until the R-24 and R-27 were introduced that the Phoenix was also considered for fighter missions as the Sparrow was not superior enough in range and reliability (although that is debatable given the quality of russian fighter radars and radar missiles) to provide favorable kill ratios.3 points

Regarding the thread's question: - mostly because, it is the best PC sim (on all aspects) where a MiG-29 A is featured; - besides, it also comes with the F-15C and Su-27; - the A-10 also attracts me a bit.3 points

For me, it's a weird problem with Japanese planes of WWII in general, and the strangest thing applies to any simulator, notice. Also when it comes to Prepar3D, MSFS, there is poverty here too. Only the old IL-2 (Maddox time) had a lot to choose from, there was a great theater and many machines with the red circle. After all, Japanese aviation was well developed at that time, they were produced in thousands, and, for example, Zero is the same Warbird as Spitfire, Mustang or Bf-109 for me. I don't understand why many creators and developers give a wide berth for planes with red circle and pretend they don't have aviation at all. For me the best was Shiden-Kai but Id like to see Zeke of course, Hayabusa, Shoki and Val. This topic is still waiting to be treated with dignity.3 points

The manual states that showing the box over the tracked target via PTRK is not included yet (Chapter 12.7.2.3, Page 426, marked yellow). Maybe that's why? Working procedure for me: CDES boxed, ALAS and PTRK selected, then put the crosshairs of the Pod over the moving target and if the contrast is high enough they will snap onto the target and start following it. 100% hit rate as long as I dont wiggle around to much so the Pod looses track.3 points

There is no doubt that OnReTech has delivered a technically very good map here, but...There is a large DCS community that is interested in historical simulation. These folks like to create historically accurate flight missions. And as we can see from the very numerous threads, posts and video clips dealing with this topic, this community seems to be big. From the first day of publication of the Sinai map, I created many missions that actually took place in the Suez Crisis, 6-day War, Attrition or Yom Kippur/Oct. War. To put it mildly, I am disappointed in what this Sinai map is offering in this regard and to put it bluntly, it wasn't the plane or assets sets that were the problem. There are enough alternatives with mods, place holders etc. to get around this. Rather, it's the immense urban areas, huge industrial plants, highways, large, super-modern cities, oversized air bases and all the vehicles that are wrong. All this does not fit into the period 1956-1973 in which these conflicts took place. It kills all the immersion. In fact, DCS maps do not cover the major conflicts of the jet aviation era. The only exception being the Normandy/Channel map that covers the time of propeller-driven aircraft. It's a pity that the new Sinai map has not remedy this deficiency. An opportunity was missed here to cover conflicts that were so important for the development of military aviation. But maybe a Vietnam map 1960-1980 will come soon and improve the situation regarding aviation history.3 points

Great work again, especially the USNS Comfort !! May I suggest a naming convention e.g. like currenthills - in your case "a189" as prefix and "versionnumber" as postfix in filenames?? And also in displaynames ? would make things easier.3 points

So sadly your track didn't play back for me, I am sure it's because I missed it for so long and all it takes is one update to trash a track. So what I did was take control of the flight and this is the result of my first attempt. Moral of the story? Not every shot is the same, not every shot will yield the same result. If I do the same thing, take control of the track and fly over and over I could see any number of different results. As I said, a cannon hit should shred the skin off the aircraft in that location, but we are stuck, right now, with the visual DM that we have. It doesn't always do justice to what our DM does. Our DM is doing a lot of math under the hood, it is calculating what is going on when that round hits, passes through etc. See the log in the video above, that is one 30 mm hit. Wings do come off, but not as often as games over the years have shown and conditioned us to believe, but they will come off. Most wing removal damage you see is the result of a catastrophic event such as an explosion or collision. Disclaimer... I hate the effect of the tail coming off like in my video... HATE it. I have requested a different result that would end in basically a damaged stump at the end of the plane instead of a laser-cut tail, the result would be exactly the same as the tail coming off, but look much better... but I digress.3 points

TUS_Boatsman День 2, вылет 3. TUS_Boatsman День 3, вылет 2. Just wanted to show how I solved the problem of mounting the stick with a 200 mm extension. I had a pair of MonsterTech table mounts that I used before I bought the NLR Boeing pit, and I took the short one and mounted it upsidedown. Works great, I can adjust it up/down and also the distance to the seat. Just an idea if you have a spare table mount. Now I need to find a good solution how to attach my new Virpil throttle and Ka-50 panel.3 points

For me obviously full fidelity is way better than low fidelity simplified FC3 standard in every possible regard. It's even easier to learn without the need to bind and remember some 40-50 abstract functions, but having interactive cockpit. The only reason i fly FC3 sometimes is FC3 modeled the sexiest late Cold War jets, with the sweet spot 1980s/1990s F-15C, MiG-29A, Su-27S, A-10A, Su-25 semi analog-semi digital era, when air combat and ground attack were close and personal for the last time during 1991 Desert Storm. Obvoiusly i would greatly prefer full fidelity versions. I hope we will see them in the future.3 points

Sorry, it's not like they locked just a few files. Entire shader folder is off limits now. Not much I can do. I left the MP version links for those running older DCS version. I don't think I will bother making any IC compatible versions going forward for any of my mods unless situation changes.3 points

Agreed. It will be an even more gaping, bleeding hole it the lineup after they release the Corsair. What is the Corsair supposed to fight? FW190? Yes, I know, someone will dig up an exceedingly rare instance of Corsairs fighting in ETO, but that is not the matchup people who would buy the Corsair want. I'll watch as see if at least a handful of AI Japanese models are released with the Asset Pack at the same time as the Corsair, otherwise I couldn't justify a $70 hangar queen. The obvious pairing should be the Zero. I've not heard of an ongoing project. If they start today, you might see it in 5 years. Mods are problematic for public servers. At the very least I'd need to see AI assets delivered in the WWII Asset Pack at the same time to justify the corsair purchase. Zero, Ki-43, N1K2-J, Ki-43. Probably need some bombers to shoot at too. Val, Ki-67. But even that would only give you offline or PVE. IMHO, it would have been better to flesh out the ETO more instead. You already have at least a minimum stable there to work with. Fleshing it out further would be a cherry on top. Unless they have a massive surprise in store for a complete Pacific lineup co-released with the Corsair. IMHO, WWII should be the next genre ED conquers. They dominate Helo and modern jet. They do NOT dominate WWII. They could though. If ED put the same effort into WWII as they do the modern computery stuff, they could take that space over too. That is the ripest ground to grab new users. They could grab other sims pilots that are looking for something better. They could be better with the right effort. They have probably reached near saturation of the modern market. WWII is a much gentler on-ramp for new customers. The other sims have provided armies of potential customers trained up and ready to go if presented a better option. Much easier for newcomers to get up to speed on that a massively complex system like an F-15. They have to be cheaper and easier to develop. You don't have the classification issues you have with modern stuff. So much ripe fruit just sitting there ready for the plucking. All ED has to do is to decide to reach out and take it.2 points

Hey @Stratos! Yep, loadout is correct, two mavericks and 1 GBU-12. And yes, realistic radio comms is very important to me and features very much in this campaign.2 points

Situation is a bit more complex. What you do not realize from that manual is that the SAM site could be controlled/supplied with targets from command posts integrating multiple different sensors. It does not have to be a single radar, in fact the system did secure in this way resistance to the jamming... In most cases the deployed variants outside of Soviet union were of simple topological. In contrast Soviet layout was much more complex and resistant to e.g. Jamming. I will attach 2 diagrams that are not directly from Soviet sources, but rather book published last year. https://tangosix.rs/2022/19/07/nova-knjiga-esalon-sve-o-sovjetskim-i-ruskim-radarskim-sredstvima-komandno-informacionim-sistemima-i-sistemima-automatizacije/2 points

It's a bit of a stretch to suggest a mental condition for not conforming to arbitrary procedures. A taxiway is perfectly capable to being a runway, in a physical sense. I agree it's most likely jarring if it's not something you'd like to see. It wouldn't be my choice, either. But that's why squadrons of all kinds and groups of like-minded people exist. Expecting randoms to behave like one would behave in an online videogame is a fool's errand, whether it's DCS, Squad or Battlefield.2 points

Our F-15E is the Suite 4+ which is from around 2003, and that means we might get it. But take that with a grain of salt because I'm not an expert on the plane and this was all from my own quick research. If I'm wrong in anything I said, please correct me. Edit: It will get DataLink.2 points
