The system has multiple components and aspects to it. We will explain it in detail at a later point. A few points that I can mention today: all properties of the aircraft and each single component will slowly degrade while you fly, based on how you fly and a few other factors - how this will affect your experience mostly depends on the mission designer. dont just think about "engine max speed" here, also think about stuff like how well any of the many lamps in your pit can react to voltage changes. or how well positioned the lense in your targeting pod camera is. the system affects a lot. the "persistence" aspect does not accumulate in the way you describe it, but is rather an option for mission/campaign designers to allow for multi-mission scenarios in which you would fly a single aircraft without being able to repair it, especially dynamic campaigns. it also captures and simulates aspects such as factory quality and variance. not every motor produced in a factory does have the exact same properties and performs identical, they are rather produced within a certain acceptable range. as an example, some of the WW2 birds produced in the last years of the war have been produced with rather bad quality in comparison10 points

It looks like we've reached the limit of 1 TB downloads once again. I'm happy that my assets are of interest to you all, but it's a bit annoying to hit the limit every other day. I've decided to add a secondary download link to help with this issue. The PRIMARY DOWNLOAD is the Dropbox link and the SECONDARY DOWNLOAD is Google Drive. Hopefully together they will provide enough transfer bandwidth.6 points

Hey guys a quick update on my current situation. (have previously been putting this under the DCS Forum) I will also be posting this in the VR forum as I spend so much time in there. My apologies to Mods if you have to remove it I understand but my wish would be for it to stay. I have many virtual friends that frequent that forum. Cancer has now spread, was in hospital last three days. They did MRI yesterday; it is now in many places including my spine. Cancer originated in my left lung with a tumor, and also had in 5 nodes in lung). While scan did not cover my head, I suspect based on my inability to think clearly and do things that should be second nature I am pretty sure it is also in brain now. When time comes if you see I have not posted in a week or longer in VR forum - that is where I spend bulk of my time - have a virtual toast for me, I know I will be in heaven with my family that preceded me - so yeah have a virtual toast remember good ole Don (dburne). Love you guys, and being a part of this forum since the original stand alone Black Shark has been a huge blessing for me. Thank you gang, it has been a true honor and brought me great enjoyment you all virtually. May God Bless you all!! I will hang in and continue my posting for as long as I can. Warmest Regards and Love, Don B. (dburne)5 points

Dear all, Thank you so much for the help - this forum really is full of people willing to help dullards like me. Would you believe that somewhere along the line my keyboard defaulted to Eng US (I'm in the UK), which moved a couple of very important buttons! I have now deleted that as an option so it can't somehow default back again, and all is good! Phew. Thanks again, Dr Spankle5 points

Yes, you will be able to redeem your license on the DCS homepage, and then simply install the module from within DCS as usual. We are almost finished with the manual and will release it soon. Thank you for the kind words. Once you redeem the license, it will be kept in place on your ED store profile in the same way, just as an FYI. So no worries there, if you care to get one of the special editions. Please note that we can only offer them on our store, due to shipping, etc being done by us directly. The sizes are EU sizes.5 points

The elephant in the room still hasn't been addressed. Ok, every rivet is in the right place. We can program Jester to be a fourteen year old squeaking TickTock influencer, systems are modeled down to the Amphenol pin crimp, and mustaches have a configurable amount of silver in them. But what really matters is whether or not the wallpaper is going to be better than the F-14's, because let's face it, the F-14 has horrific wallpaper.4 points

I think you need to understand that Anti-Aliasing (for our purposes that means getting rid of staircases) is based on super sampling. Very very basically it means that a new (previously non existent) data point is interpolated from two existing points. The existing points can be different from each other by resolution (super-), by time (temporal-) or different rendering-passes (multi-). Obviously it’s more complicated than this, but that should give an idea. DLSS renders in a lower resolution to save performance and then upscales back to the output resolution. It applies its deep learning super-sampling algorithms to save the quality during this process. DLAA which was introduced later based on the same algorithms does basically the same but renders from the native (or even higher) resolution and improves the quality over native resolution. It is two opposite directions on the same spectrum if that makes any sense. I‘m really struggling here to put the idea into the right words. English is not my native language. If you really want to know the details, you‘d probably best find and read the white-papers from Nvidia on the technology.4 points

Did my order. T-shirt: AJS-black. Sorry, had to, but ... I have something of a history with it ...4 points

Unfortunately you cannot. We are limiting the shirts to one per order, so that everyone has a chance to get one. Thank you for your purchase and support! I hope I did not overlook anyone's question, if so please feel free to ping me anytime, and multiple times! Thank you all for the very kind words and amazing support, we are blown away by the community's reactions! Thank you from all of us at Heatblur!4 points

That's because you can skin weapons as part of a livery, but once they leave the aircraft they will default to the textures on the core ED side. For multiple coatings or textures will or would require ED to add a more full livery system for munitions. Some bombs do have them but not all.4 points

Hi Currenhil, Would it be possible to add a version of the ATACMS with cluster munitions? This version seems to be quite successful! Thanks for your answer !3 points

Don't know if it will change his mind or whatever. But I'm an admin for the Kola map fan page on Facebook, so I'm one of two that has to let people into the group that wants too. And I can tell you, the number of Norwegians and swedes that want into the group is huge. Followed by fins. Not seen that many Russians, but that's for obvious reasons. But there are some cyclic guys that want in. I might have to do a headcount of the 400+ members but wouldn't surprise me if about 50% were nordics3 points

It would be absolutely fantastic to have both, 38+13 and 37+15 in their final liveries of the WTD 61 test unit as those were the last two Phantoms to ever fly in the German Airforce, bringing an end to decades of service and thus very important to fans of the German Phantoms. They were allowed to fly on a little bit longer after the official retirement due to belonging to the special test unit and the unit put on two very memorable farewell flights with 38+13 being the final German Phantom to ever fly. I was personally very lucky to be there in person for both farewell flights so having these two in DCS would be truly special for me.3 points

I would love CV 67 USS John F. Kennedy (which can be thought of as a Kittyhawk subvariant), but probably for different reasons (I'm trying to have appropriate Atlantic carriers in my missions dated late 1983 - mid 1984). We do have Forrestal, but depicted in a post SLEP (i.e post mid 1985) configuration, which better fits the majority of the carrier aircraft we've got and/or getting. The current F-14A-135-GR starts at the mid 90s, the F-14B starts at the late 80s, the early F-14A-135-GR starts at the mid 80s. The A-7E will be late 80s and the A-6E is at least a TRAM (so post Vietnam - late 1970s), if its a WCSI or a SWIP, that puts it in the 80s or 90s respectively. Heatblur are planning to complete the Forrestal classes, but for the time being I'd assume they're going to be in a post SLEP or otherwise 1980s/90s fit. So far the only carrier-based Vietnam-era aircraft announced is the F-8J Crusader and the AH-1H Skyraider. For the former the best fit is a post SCB-125 Essex/Ticonderoga as that's what they were based on (good thing here is that 4 Essex carriers are still around). Though they both would've operated Skyraiders in the mid-ish 60s. Magnitude 3 is doing a WWII-era Essex for their F4U, so maybe we'll get lucky and they'll do a WWII variant and a post SCB-125 variant for their Crusader.3 points

The system is configurable. For the details and similar questions in that direction, I would forward to the mentioned future deep-dive on the system for now3 points

Don't worry. To be honest it is a pleasure this kind of report, this confirms that our "ice" formation logic works properly for information, the MB-339 has two pitot tubes. One provides information for the front ASI, the other one for the back one. In our logic we have simulated a non homogeneous ice formation, this means that one pitot can be blocked before of the other one and then one of the two ASI can be not operational before of the other one (and vice-versa).3 points

People need to realize that just because they are seeing giant black blocks in the sky doesn't mean that those who are happier with the new system vs the old are seeing giant black blocks in the sky. I don't see many (if anyone) saying that giant black blocks are realistic, but those seeing them seem to think everyone is seeing it that way and those in favour of the new system want to keep that (and most if not all who like the new system realize/agree that it needs tweaking for those who have giant black blocks). VR seems to be generally a worse experience from what I read, but in 2-D I am really happy with the changes. That suggests that it needs to be tweaked, not thrown out. Options are great, but people also forget that every option, no matter how small, has a performance cost (if only a tiny one) and eventually that adds up to something meaningful.3 points

@xrx Razbam have multiple real F-15E aircrew as SMEs for both the flight model and the systems. Can you please stop posting things based on feelings of how the F-15E compares to the C model. They are different aircraft.3 points

I used -66 as an umbrella at Norfolk Navy Shipyard. There's a picture of her in the dry dock somewhere, but our little dingy isn't visible. She hung over the edges nicely. Kitty is a good choice; there were four of them if you count the Kennedy, and they bridge the gap nicely for early carriers. 64 is Kitty Hawk class. Flew everything on the current and upcoming list, took the F-18 out on it's first deployment, and I have a picture of those two aft hanger doors lined up. Apparently, and I don't know if this is true, the Omani mercenary pilots wanted to scoot through those doors in their Hawks and were asking about dimensions... Besides, we need something with a bridle catcher. On the other hand once I'm off it a deck is a deck. I don't give them a ton of thought as long as there are two runways and a couple wires in back. The rest is pretty sparsely modeled and there's no sense of smell in DCS...2 points
