  1. Hi, we are preparing a proper update about this. In the meantime I can confirm we are working on the F-104 already and at good pace. Some members of the team are dedicating most of their time to the 104 while some others are still more focused on the F1M.

  2. Hi there. We are in the development of a standalone-version of the F104C. What we have so far: - cold-start (100%) - radar (85%) - gunsight (85%) - weapon-system (80%) - simple electric-system (100%) - cockpit restructure for C-Version (35%) - cockpit animation (60%) - clickability (45%) - Radios (45%) So the "zipper" will be around, even if FC3 really has closed it's doors for mod planes.

  5. Since cdpcobra has also added new functions in his patch, the zip from the texture folder is overwritten by the one I provided in the above post. In the zip provided by cdpcobra, the MAM_A400M_B.dds is still defective. Drag this texture into the "Military Aircraft Mod.zip" in the textures folder and confirm the overwrite. MAM_A400M_B.dds

  6. If you want to fly some nice terrain or hit targets moving down the roads, make you way up the Hellmand River north of the junction with the Tarin river past where FOB Coyote was located IRL. Cool bridges and villages, steep valleys and awesome choke points for vehicles. Or fly from the Junction of the rivers down to Tarin Kot past Deh Rawod great low level flying.

  7. I was just flying in the Hog, turned my view distance up to high because I couldn't even see Kandahar at 1,000 feet, DCS restarted to reset the settings and Afghanistan is gone. DCS world is becoming soul destroying. I am playing this less and less because it is just getting worse.

  8. Folks, when you’re posting pictures of terrain that is taken from 10k+ feet know that you’re proving the very same point us rotor heads are making about this map. The detail up high has, for the most part, looked great, and yeah Afghanistan looks gorgeous in some spots when up high. But it’s an illusion that’s broken up once you’re down low. from the very description on the product marketing page that despite acknowledgments to the contrary, remain: Key Features at Early Access Release The entirety of Afghanistan with the southwestern portion available in high detail at Early Access release. High resolution terrain mesh, textures and objects provide a realistic map from low to high altitude. Numerous, authentically modelled airbases like Kandahar and Herat. Diverse terrain ranging from towering mountains to vast deserts. Recreate battles spanning the last 40 years. Personally I think full fidelity maps are a trap at this scale, but man do I appreciate the effort, however, that appreciation can be had with a healthy dose of criticism. It’s the only way this game ever really improves. Some of you enjoy the map as is with the promise of improvement in the future. That’s great, you do you and enjoy. Your enjoyment of this map shouldn’t be impacted by any dissent. In the end ED released a paid product that’s in EA, and as such we’re all paying beta testers, so criticize away at the product you received now and don’t hold back just because you’re promised something in the future. My family back in England would always tell me that tomorrow never comes. Check six and all that jazz, have fun in whatever sandbox you choose to play in.

  9. To provide a status update - things are going pretty well! The bot knows how to do some basic commands like RADIO CHECK, ALPHA CHECK, and BOGEY DOPE. I'm working on more commands like SPIKED, SNAPLOCK, DECLARE, and PICTURE. I usually test it by connecting the bot to a public server like Hoggit or Flashpoint Levant + my local SRS server and speaking commands to it while live-editing the code in my development environment. On track for a winter 2024-25 release

  11. I've been playing DCS for 11 years. It helped foster my love for aviation. I continue to love DCS, and for the last 5 years I've been flying the CH-47F as a career. It's an incredible aircraft and I'm excited to be able to fly it from home!

  12. While over Argentina, I happened to look at the Moon, and it is upside down. I watched a video recently where it is explained how and why the Moon is seen differently by North and South. If you look at the impact crater that looks like a star (that is Tycho) in the Northern Hemisphere, it's near the "bottom" of the Moon, while in the Southern it is near the "top". 15. I heard so many sad stories about Winwing's customer service, since their beginnings to nowadays. As good as their product might be, with awesome prices, these stories were a "no go" for me. I don't want to have to fight against a company for my rights. I should not have to, and I don't want to spend my time in endless mails/threatenings/etc... Thank you for sharing your experience, and I wish you the best for the resolution of your problem.

  18. maybe that is the problem... you do not need to quit, just practice more. I always find funny that people try to master some really complex things like AAR in a couple of hours, when to master it, the real pilots take a LOT of flying hours.

  19. I tried something similar, it appears to switch to Su-25T avionics to do this: MAC_flyable('F15EX',current_mod_path..'/Cockpit/KneeboardRight/',F15EX_EFM, current_mod_path..'/comm.lua') null

  20. Well, I know since I'm part of VSN as well. The problem is not that FC3 has gone away, the problem is that it seems (I can't be 100% sure since I can only read the errors presented and make something useful from it) as if it is now forbidden for not FC-Planes to call FC-Avionics-Pack. It wasn't like this before. The HotFix did not "fix" this situation so it might be a "feature" of DCS 2.9.6 or it was a coincidence and is far down the list of things ED might want to address "in the future" or may-be never, who knows. Anyways, I hope somebody bright comes up with a good idea, since otherwise we will have to Code our own avionics-suit which will take a lot of time and will fall short, functionality-wise. So a "lose-lose"-situation, sort of (not so much for my beloved early cold-war planes, but anything from the mid 80s onwards will be severly hampered).

  22. Since the second buggy update (the last two were cleavers), MP servers have been unbelievably laggy. At times it stutters, freezes then crashes to desktop. Slots at airfields are bugged too so that no-one can get in and fly anything. Rebooting and reloading after cleaning whatever files anyone suggests doesn’t always help. People with far better hardware than me are saying it’s unusable for them too. I had no trouble in a lightly populated mission in SP thankfully but I’m learning a few things on MP servers and getting tips and advice on things has been great. The night before last it was juddering so bad even the chat was laggy before the whole thing packed up again. I do hope for a fix but since the last update seems to have made some things worse than the previous one I don’t know where we’re gonna be? I’d leave a track or something to help but don’t have anything like the trouble I’m having in MP if I fly offline. MP’s carnage as things are.

  23. It got to that level BECAUSE of the backlash at release. It should be noted that it’s not Razbam actually making this map, it’s the same guys who are doing the Kola for Orbx.

  24. This may have been the biggest patch in a long time but the amount of bugs and issues it introduced have seen usage on our servers drop to the lowest I have seen since I started with our group 7 years ago, mid week now we hardly see any one flying (used to at least be 10 consistently). I think personally its due to the helo scripting issues that have came with this patch, as most of our missions are helo dependent on capturing stuff these bugs have caused all our big main missions to be broken and our pilots are off playing other games.

  28. I like that it's big, fat, and fast. And it has sophisticated nav systems but no real weapons, so it's all about the flying, but still has cool tech toys. Until the C-130 comes out, I guess this will have the highest people capacity of any plane or chopper.

  29. If there are any former or current U.S. Chinook crew who are willing to help/advise as your time allows, on a scripted campaign build for the Chinook, please drop me a PM. I'm in the feasibility stage, and part of this is determining this is whether or not I have some SME input on various things, and help with comms scripts here and there etc. I'm also researching the Apache, and you might see a similar post there soon if you frequent that board. 30. Well, let's put it this way: there are multiple competing subsets of the community who all want different things. The Strike Eagle guide took a focused effort of about 9 months... which left me with a hefty backlog to address for other guides that were left behind. I don't pretend I have a perfect solution since I am severely limited in terms of resources (mainly time and availability). My immediate priority is to include the new datalink architecture implemented by ED, which means that the F-16, F/A-18 and A-10C are all in the first batch of planned updates. The Viper having the most stuff to update/fix (mainly INS and other things), I'm tackling this one first. I also want to fix some stuff on the targeting pod lasing logic for the JF-17 after a Deka update a few months back. Once these critical updates are done, I have to decide if I want to do the big AH-64 update or work on the F-4 Phantom. I cannot stress enough how badly I want to work on the Phantom straight away, but I have to think about the Apache playerbase having to potentially wait an additional 6-9 months if I go that way. I still haven't made up my mind about the best course of action. Regarding the MB339... it's a tough call. While I think it's a cool trainer and most certainly worthy of a proper guide, the demand for it is simply dwarfed by the amount of requests I have for other modules. And all that does not even take into account what I really want to work on. One last thing: I saw that many people appreciated the "quick" guide for the Phantom I did (which was mainly for start-up, takeoff and landing). I was thinking of potentially doing something similar for the OH-58, CH-47 (and hell, maybe even the MB339 while we're at it). It could be an interesting concept if people want it.

  31. Despite what is happening, the jet is very effective in its current state and very fun to fly. Its actually one of the only jets I fly currently besides the F4E. I Really hope progress is made between ED and Razbam because it has so much potential to be the most badass piece of hardware in DCS. However, if it stayed the way it is and it just was kept functional I would still fly it.

  32. I have purchased just under $2000 of WinWing products in the last two years. For the most part they make good products but the true test of a product is their customer service and I have to say it is horrendous. I purchased an F-16 ICP in January and only used it a few times since. The last time I used it i manipulated the dobber switch and it became loose and unusable. Obviously it had broken off on the inside(Video attached). Below is Winwings response. Do what you will with this information. Hello, the RTN/SEQ button has broken on my ICP, It was never dropped or mishandled. I was using it while flying the F-16 in DCS and after a push to the right it became very loose and quit working. JessieChen [2024-07-24 02:09:51] Dear customer, The five-way switch on the ICP, being made of plastic material, should not be forcefully impacted, rotated, or pulled, as it may result in switch damage. This situation is not covered by warranty, we can provide you with the switch, but you need to pay for it Thomas Kozubek [2024-07-24 09:06:02] There was no force or impact, I was simply manipulating it like any other button. I have spent $2000 on your products. If you are telling me you are not going to warranty a poorly made 50 cent part then I will no longer buy your product and will switch to Virpil. TommyLiu [2024-07-24 09:08:15] Dear customer,I will apply for you, please wait for my reply JessieChen [2024-07-24 22:00:45] Dear customer, we have applied for you, we would like to exempt the material cost, but you will need to pay for the shipping fees. Thanks for your support JessieChen [2024-07-24 22:00:48] Dear customer, we have applied for you, we would like to exempt the material cost, but you will need to pay for the shipping fees. Thanks for your support Thomas Kozubek [2024-07-24 22:35:10] Ok Thomas Kozubek [2024-07-24 22:36:19] How much is shipping? JessieChen [2024-07-24 22:48:27] Dear customer, plz confirm your address, so I can figure out the shipping fees: Thomas Kozubek [2024-07-25 11:34:27] That is correct. So you are aware, when I had an issue with a Thrustmaster flight stick they sent me a brand new one from France. You are making me pay for a defective plastic piece. spacehamster [2024-07-25 11:38:26] Dear customer, we are sorry for your inconvenience. But our ICP switch is under test before putting out in the market. This situation is not covered in our warranty. I will calculate the cost for you spacehamster [2024-07-25 11:39:22] Dear customer, this address has out-of-range fee. Because some remote or less accessible areas may have a higher surcharge than others. The Out-of-Delivery-Area Surcharge and Out-of-Pickup-Area Surcharge rates are determined based on the corresponding tier of the ZIP code, postal code, or city of the shipment’s origin and/or destination location for International Express Freight and Parcel services. There are two suggestions: 1. use another address with different postcode 2. Or when you buy our product in global channel next time, we will try to pack it with the product, which will save you the freight F-16 ICP.mp4

  33. Hello everyone, while searching through my archives I found photos of my stay in Afghanistan in the Kapisa valley in 2008 - 2009. With these photos I pay tribute to the ground personnel and the CHINOOK crews who participated in the operations alongside us. May they be blessed for their dedication and professionalism. CH-47F Chinook of Company B - "Varsity", 7th Battalion, 101st Airborne Division CH-47F Chinook of Company B - "Pachyderms", 6th Battalion, 101st Aviation Regiment, 101st Airborne Division and others that I have not identified...... Photos on board.... And various missions.... oups ! after an eventful flight the panel left its place without authorization !

  35. Same here. I was literally flying a Spit in Normandy, logged-out, got a drink, came back and it won't authorize either Normandy or Afghanistan (or any of the FC-3 planes I own, which is not that big a deal, but STILL...).

  40. Now I don't do US liveries much, so I'd follow Lance's advice in that regard, but also a little tip I'd give is to use the reverse image search function (set it to exact image so it doesn't just spit out images of fighter jets). Using that method allows you to find sites that hosted the image you looked with, and they will most likely have other images as well. For example for the Komatsu air meet livery I only had one image of one side, and when looking for the other I couldn't find it anywhere, not even on Japanese sites like flyteam.jp, but I reverse searched the one image I had and it led me to, of all things a Hungarian blog that had a few other images of the air frame and allowed me to finish my work.

  45. Disappointments and trash talk could have been avoided 100% by showing exactly what state the map was in before Early Access launch. ED selected not to show off the map properly during pre-order. They also decided not to give content creators preview copies this time around. That's ok, some players are very happy with the quality. But there are many players that got disappointed and burned this time. Not a good thing for future DCS Pre-Orders.

  46. change log: 2.9.6.58056 "Spotting Dots - In the previous update, we adjusted this behaviour that many of you noticed. This is still very much WIP and being adjusted. We welcome your feedback and will be monitoring it. " this is my feedback To be honest, I didn't expect this issue to be turned into an adjustment. You're making DCS a pixel-to-pixel fight again... You've made the dots extremely small, and even as they disappeared, they continued to disappear. I described everything here: Spotting dots - WIP - such an important thing as seeing your opponent, has been going on for the second year now. There were already external mods that could replace 2 years of your work, but they were deleted. The solution with large square dots was an embarrassment, now you are back to point zero. Congratulations. New maps, planes, amazing videos promoting new content. How to enjoy it? if the core of the fun is broken. Changes to the game engine only seem to bring no money. I spent a lot of money to be able to enjoy DCS, and lately the only thing I can offer is this bugged production that irritates me. Thank you for your support and passions, I'm leaving.
