My Static Buildings Mod - These are mainly old, original ED buildings that you can place as eye candy, some have destruct models, many dont. Many have drop down livery options. I may add more drop down livery options at a later date - I have many more stored away. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/53mtf6pi4ux1bqasywlv9/CrazyEddies-Static-Buildings-MOD.zip?rlkey=6dq52f0aqv0291nf95zatpgmw&st=mdwe1go5&dl=09 points

My static Vehicles Mod. These are mainly older ED models that you can now place as a static object in the Structures option. Some have livery options in the drop downs. The ones with working radars can be placed as working radars if placed as a Vehicle. I have no idea if the radar function works as such, but it does rotate. Not all ED radars from that period turn and burn, and some that did , did weird things, so no options there. . Some of these vehicles were provided by Hawkeye in a Mod we did years ago, but most are existing ED Models from the modern carriers mod or odd things I have aquired over the years from various free sites. Use these at your own risk - they may conflict with you in game versions but I have tried to overcome that by name changes and other things. 5 March 25 - Updated link to fix HEMTT Liveries issue: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/en1vacsnkgym6wys3acc4/CrazyEddies-Static-Vehicles-MOD-updated-6-3-25.zip?rlkey=w25vxdzpgtjlwvke2lf2c9mq4&st=i9yyzw0s&dl=08 points

you truly are one weird character, you do know all this is free and during free time, since you are blocked from my discord you can't see news, mig-23ub,yak-38 and su-7 are only ai and are exactly the same as they were years back, this is not finished work, is just that I decided to add the old mods back as Ai, again I am not competing with anyone or trying to prove anything, what I am doing is sharing with the DCS community, you on the other hand seem to be trying a bit extra hard to prove something, not like I care, this shows your character and the type of person that you are but that is your own doing and problem, have a nice day. A moderator needs to remove Urbi from here, he is really annoying and negative.8 points
-
Folks please treat each other with respect. I have had a little clean up and hidden some posts. @Urbi if you do not like the mod please move on you have given your feedback, Let the people who are enjoying it have some fun with it, or create your own. Please use the report feature on the posts if you see a problem, otherwise people escalate the argument and end up with warning points. thank you6 points
-
Sorry but you are incorrect, please go to the store page and see which ones are marked early access and which ones are not. We have many finished products. We have also delivered many core features and continue to. The fact is these projects can take a long time to complete, and we will take our time doing it, this model of producing aircraft has kept DCS alive and growing. Many people dont understand how this works, and if they had their way would do it differently, but they would fail. thank you6 points
-
Nobody attacked you. We were just a little baffled by this concern (which came a bit out of left field honestly) and gave reasons why this is very unlikely to say the least. Neither long or short term. DCS is a sandbox kind of game (for better or worse), the ME is pretty much its life support. Sure, ED may one day change their course, but currently I don’t see any signs of that at all.6 points

Draconus, respectfully, I don't think anyone here wants a "war" about this. Believe that this kind of response of “what makes you believe that other than your thoughts” is an unhealthy and presumptuous way of debating something. We are here trying to understand what Heatblur has done, and trying together with the detailed study that Tavarish kindly provided, why the missile “reacts” the way it does in-game. If we just use data without calculations like "x is equal to x because my SME told me", we have already seen several cases of SME in podcasts or interviews speaking inaccurate information (in no way trying to diminish because these people are true Heroes who have dedicated their lives to protecting their country not to mention the many who have paid with their own lives). But back on topic, I want to remind you that we have a paper from ED showing how they used data to reproduce the 120 in and this allows us to understand the performance presented in game (And we know that this performance must also be different from the real missile because there are several factors that cannot be simulated in DCS) and also DCS is a game/simulator aimed at the general public for military matters there is the MCS, And if we if we go as drastic as “my data against your data!!!” we have several sources on the internet from the navy itself saying that the Phoenix was a missile capable of reaching mach 5 (and we know that it wasn't, not in the conditions that its launch platform could reach). you can find many sources from "official" documents that contradict the game's current performance like this one: I think what we're looking for here is to understand the calculations and where the metrics used to make the missile the way it is in the game came from. And whenever we try to debate this, we're treated like teenagers trying to improve a toy, when in fact I believe that everyone here is looking for something that, even if it can't be identical, can at least be simulated approximately correctly. We don't have children here, you're talking to engineers, programmers, maybe even military personnel and all kinds of professionals who have this as a hobby and who share this passion for knowing how things work and why. We're trying to get technical answers, not an arguments fight. My best regards.6 points

Some guidlines for this thread: Please dont post endless thank you's for anything - I'm more than happy to do this stuff for free, it just clutters up the thread and if you are happy then I am happy. If you have an issue or a question you can either pm me or post something here, quoting which Mod it is, I will respond when I can. I'm elderly and in poor health so I spend more time on my comode than I do on my pc ( that's a joke of course, but I do attend horpital an awful lot so be patient, I will get back to you) I will post an image of what the Mod is with a DropBox link below it (when they sort the stuffing thing out !!) - I will keep it simple as I can. Feel free to do anything you want with my stuff, credit me if appropriate.6 points

A small collection of liveries for other peoples Mods - examples as per the image. You will need the original Mod to be able to uise these, they are not unique in themselves. Read the ReadMe for which Mods you will need. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/1i99bfzevs37h724ngmyn/CrazyEddies-Misc-Liveries-Pack..zip?rlkey=so7ymqgqa5oe5ib42degbeypi&st=0u2fcjss&dl=05 points

I said nothing about deadlines. I said it's time to stop making more promises, and start completing unfinished products/features. There are so many unfinished projects, yet then just keep announcing more...why? They clearly do not have the resources to complete the unfinished projects in a reasonable timeline, why keep adding more projects?5 points
-
It's normal and expected for a company to inform its clients about ongoing work for improving existing features or introducing new ones. It is no secret that complex software development takes time and they just let us know what they're working on. I see no reason to be upset about that. In the mean time, we are all free to enjoy many other products that ED did deliver.4 points

-
ED has been on this business for more than 25 years, I can safely assume that they know much better than a green user, so no problem for me.4 points
-
Yes, it's a real problem when the majority of the announced features, and products are unfinished, and they just keep making more promises, and releasing more early access products. It is well past time to stop making more promises, and starting completing the many projects that have remained unfinished for years now.4 points

I can't belive it's been 3 years today since the Mossie dropped!!. How time flies by!!. I have fond memories of the hype leading up to the release, the first trailer "The Mossies are coming"!! dropping - one of the best intro trailers I've ever seen in DCS. The Mossie Monday series, and the build up to this day 3 years ago. All exciting stuff. She's still a fantastic module and I fly her regularly, but sadly she seems to have been forgotten by ED, dumped on the back burner for what ever reason. No tangable updates for 2 years or more, still no AI nav, no wind drift indicator to mess with, no operable escape hatch on the roof of the cockpit, no flare gun, no operable windscreen wiper, no AI pilot or Nav bodies in VR. It's sad that such an iconic module has been all but forgotten. Happy 3rd birthday old girl....3 points

Thanks @Admiral189 for your incoming italian naval pack. Did you have any plan for make a mods for PPA class and LHD Trieste in de future to complete all the italian navy?3 points

I for one are thankfully appreciative for the good folks who put out these free mods, their own time, resources and their love for aviation. From the past, if a mod works, I say thank you. If the mod doesn’t work, I will let the maker know what issues I am having and hope they can fix it, yet still thankful for their efforts.3 points

Lolz, The last part of your thought reminded me about a wise thing my Dad would say to me when we went out to the smorgasbord (All you can eat). ”Son, don’t let your eyes overload your mouth/gut.” Still true to this day.3 points

This is pretty much the crux of the issue, but since we have not yet seen any of the implemented logic, we don't know if the issue is within the simulation of the forces going into the stick from the plane, or the forces going into the stick from the virtual pilot. Claims of it being acceptable by SME's still hasn't been validated nor has their qualification above someone with a background in mechanical engineering like mine. WarThunder gives a good example of the pure opposite of this problem. No matter where you put your real stick, the virtual stick will exactly match it as if your pilot has a terminator robot arm. Every time you return your stick to center, all the control surfaces lock stiff revealing all the natural short period oscillations on every axis. They have no force going into the control surfaces or any kind of inertial/kinematic simulation. On this F-4 module, there's a strange behavior of pilot arm stiffness that is rigid at the extreme deflections, but very soft in the center. If you move the stick forward and back just a tiny bit at the right frequency, you can get the stick to slap all over the place on harmonics, but if you rapidly move it to an extreme position, it instantly locks it in. This indicates either one of two problems: The virtual pilot is relaxed near center and rigid at large deflections The bob weight simulation has an error in inertial kinematics. I've reviewed the diagrams of the mechanical systems and there's no reason for inertia or damping to shift based on deflection, including aerodynamic forces. The bob weights, including the elevator itself, are rigidly fixed to axis and do not change weight or length. Additionally, there are human factors to consider. With an FFB stick, I can hold the stick rigidly and get used to to the response by learning the feedback. The aircraft becomes significantly easier to control and trim. In fact, I can hold the stick perfectly still while moving the trim around. With non-FFB, that choice to hold firm doesn't exist and there's no way to learn the feel of it because it happens automatically in the background. So not only does there seem to be an error in the modelling, there's no compensation for how a real pilot familiarizes themselves with routine handling. The ideal outcome should be that the plane behaves similarly between a user who is familiar with the FFB response, and a user who doesn't have FFB. Accomplishing that human factors consideration should relieve any need for fictional trim rates.3 points

and Ah, team "git gud". Tell me, when you embark on one of those multi-hour missions, do you also strap on a piddle pack? Because there's the same argument to say "easy comms yes, easy pee no"? It is realistic that you need to learn to sit in your own juices for hours on end? "Git gud" my left foot. Let's roll another 20 pages of silly arguments.3 points

Also before 6 months ago this wasnt that big of a problem... it was a challenge to spot other craft without any visual help from DCS even if its the chevron but i played for months on Enigma and i allways could see the other jets if i knew where they were .. was it because CGI/EWR called for the BRA or cause i had radar cotnact or because i actually spoted it.. yes i got jumped on from time to time but you felt it was that.. being jumped on wich is to be expected in such battlefield.. But from the last 6 months or so that all went to hell and now they are just invisible.. even friendlies.. i have lost friendlies in front of me flying away that just became invisible after a couple miles .. its a disaster for the 6 monthds and my setup is the same.. same resolution.. same antialiasing .. nothing i tried improved it at all or helped at all..2 points

Das spricht für streaming probleme. Also Nachlader von Texturen oder sonst was. Kannst mal folgendes checken: AV (Defender?) deaktivieren, Auslagerungsdatei fixieren/vergrößeren, verschiedene Pre-Load Radien versuchen.

These huge texture files are completely unnecessary. The well known civilian sim has been using compressed high res textures for years with no issues. Jabbers recent video regarding VRAM usage in DCS clearly shows how these huge model textures are impacting things. Its especially annoying when these same flyable model textures are being loaded in for AI use.2 points

Very, very nice 3D models. The AI behavior of the bombers as well as that of the Tu-128 and Yak-28 is quite good. Unfortunately, cannon hits on both fighters have no effect. It often takes two Sidewinders to achieve a kill. The damage model for the bombers, apart from missing damage decals, reaches a good DCS standard. Perhaps skilled modders can correct these small things over time. All in all, it is a very successful mod and a great enrichment for the DCS Cold War simulation community. Thank you very much for this excellent contribution.2 points

I actually refunded it and bought it back after a few months, the refunding ultimately was a knee jerk reaction after the first few issues and bugs popped up. in the end it's a functional jet with radar modelling superseding ED's own offerings (that by itself speaks volumes) so I'll keep it and enjoy it for as long as I can. Originally I thought to get the Chinook instead, but looking at the current state of that Module I'll stick to my F-15 and hope for the best going forward.2 points

So, to nix that urban legend. Launch DCS Load a Decent sized Mission, Note the FPS, Now Restart the Mission, Alt Tab out, and Tell your Virus Scanner to Scan the DCS Folder at the same time. The Assumption that Active Virus scans don't hit performance has already been proven false by EVERY YouTuber/OverClocker/Pro-Gamer. The RealTime Protection scans literally every file as it's being accessed, every item as it's being moved from one memory address to another, every running process, including 3rd party processes for addon UI things *(* ie HeatBlur modules), every incoming packet coming in from a MP Server,... eeevverrryyy thaaannngg. In smaller missions w/ less stuff being accessed, you might not notice the hit, but it's measurably there, in MP on the other hand, w/ large missions, the impact is real.2 points

Well I done goofed, I bought it anyway, still excited and awaiting this sweet M variant.2 points

For about a year now. He's put in a lot of work, and made some reasonable guesses and done a lot of math, but that doesn't change the fact that he cannot see what the DCS code does to the missile after it's handed off from the LUA code.2 points

A clear majority of their products are unfinished early access projects, and they keep pushing out many more new ones, and as a result, every project is now moving at a snail's pace. They clearly have far more projects than they have resources for, and you don't see a problem?2 points
-
I share your frustrations, and I think we can agree it comes from a love of ED as long-time customers. albeit- I myself often get frustrated with them but must remember that ED is still a business. They have to make money to keep the projects rolling and bring food to their tables. They can’t do that by just pushing free updates on existing projects they must also continuously find ways to generate revenue. That is of course understandable. on the other side, customers who have paid hundreds if not thousands into DCS have every right to voice their concerns for the direction of the overall product as well. I don’t know why people in the forums that aren’t affiliated with ED take such offense to that notion. Certainly hope not and I think our customer base would do anything we could to help to keep that from happening.. but it’s not out of the realm of possibilities. Look at some previous major aircraft simulation/platform developers….2 points

Great work after Cubanace's re-entry. Mig-23UB no improvement after 6 years of hard work by Cubanace. Su-7 no improvement after 8 years of hard work by Cubanace. Su-57 only improved content in the luas after 8 years of hard work by Cubanace. Yak-38 presented for the first time. After about 3 years of hard work by Cubanace, it can be described as bad. (all models used are good models) I make my statement after a thorough analysis of the individual models. To be clear again, Cubanace did not model a single model or any of the cockpits themselves. All modules have a mess of textures. JPG, BMP and PNG are all included. The ED standard for textures dds is not adhered to. Dozens of texture formats are wrong. It is particularly bad with the Yak-38. Half of the textures are not necessary. The flaps for the undercarriage are not assigned at all. These are plain material. All of the main textures for the outer skin have been assigned a normal except for the vertical stabilizer. In the cockpit itself there is only color. The roughmet is all wrong. After 8 years of hard work, Cubanace is not adhering to the standards for the Arg`s. No suspension on the undercarriage. On the main undercarriage on Arg 3, the animation does not start at 0.0 to 1.0 but at 0.95 to 1.0. The animation for folding the wings on Cubanace is on Arg 25. Arg 25 is the standard for lowering the arresting hook. The openings on the air intakes are closed by flaps. Cubanace simply left these out. He has air holes. The team for the Yak-38 also seems to no longer exist. Landing on a carrier is impossible. The Yak-38 goes into hiding after flying over the carrier. Everyone can make up their own mind.2 points

This is an incredible project and I'm genuinely so excited to watch it unfold. My grandfather trained to be a navigator in Manitoba before joining 617 (post Ruhr raid) as the war neared its conclusion. He was definitely in the squadron when they went after the Tirpitz. This will be amazingly cool to get some sort of representation of it all. Thank you so much!2 points
