These way you may explain every incompetence, negligence, and underdevelopment. We're talking about worst quality module in dcs. Most neglected one. With bugs that exist since the very beginning, and were never corrected. "there's not THAT much wrong with the Fishbed" - basically apart from moving switches in cockpit - the plane has nothing what is modelled and finished -systems? non existent. I posted couple times what is wrong. -flight model? serious flaws (if you dare to fly high and fast you'll easily guess what is wrong - for arcade players WT style it's irrelevant, so I'm guessing mr Fishbed is arcade player, or hopes that the rest of us are.) -damage model? well... tell me about all those MiG-21 flying fighting and landing without one wing. -3D model? - that's funny also. If you brake wing, the damage is visible for you from the cockpit, but from outside - for your colleague on your wing you're a allright! Another case is, that cockpit dimensions and proportions are wrong, and it's obvious for everyone who at least once sat inside MiG-21. A-10 was refreshed, rebuilt, remade couple times times K-50 was refreshed, rebuilt, remade couple times times F-5E-3 was refreshed, rebuilt, remade couple times times Even F-15C from FC3 became new cockpit MiG-29 from FC3 became new FM (and it's great!) MiG-21 @by Magnitude is a joke. It's revolting that it's being still sold. It's not even good enough to be a part of WT right now. Name one module in DCS which is in similar condition as MiG-21. All of them are light years forward in every single simulation aspect.6 points

We decided to add fog to the jungle "old stuff before the new patch coming up." This just intensified the fire fights. Makes the enemy harder to spot and really makes it feel like a humid jungle. Did an A-4 video along with the one below so you can see what it looks like from above. Kandy was popping smoke for me and Zipper. This was me down in the jungle with him looking for targets. Zipper went down and we had our first midair collision in the Cayuse. Good times!5 points

This year hasn’t been the easiest for DCS, and I know I’ve been as vocal as anyone when it comes to pointing out areas where I think ED could have done better. But it's great to also reflect on the things that ED has done right too, and I think as we approach the end of another year we've managed to survive, now seems to seem a good time to reflect on the things we appreciate. I’d love to hear what others are thankful for that we've received this year. Here are a few things I’m especially grateful for in 2024 that spring to mind: Performance Optimizations: (Seeing another simulator recent launch with dreadful frame rates even on high-end machines highlights to me how well DCS is performing in this area, and how beautiful it is too. Can't wait to see what Vulkan brings). Dynamic Spawn Slots for Multiplayer: A massive thank you for this feature! Focusing on Bug Fixes (especially the impact in the latest couple of updates). Significant Syria Map Updates: I don’t own all the maps so apologies to other creators and the work they have done too- but I have been wonderfully surprised by the unexpected changes that have come to the Syria map. The Long-Awaited KIOWA: Finally, it’s here, and I love it. Plane Directors and Fog: Yeah, I know they’re not here just yet, but let’s face it—they’re almost within reach and I'm pretty excited about this too. Keeping DCS Cloud-Free: And no, I’m not talking about fluffy white clouds. Despite the space DCS takes up on drives, I’m so glad ED aren't going down the online cloud-based game path that 'another flight sim' has. The ability to play offline is greatly appreciated, and optional not mandatory updates mean I can jump in for a quick flight without being forced to update first. ED really strikes a great balance here, with the way they do their install, and it's a huge contract between it and an unmentionable simulator. Incredible effort of 3rd party voluntary support. From those who host events, work on MOOSE to keep it up todate, provide support, the online map editor, Olympus, VAICOM, SRS, Quadviews/VR supporters, and too many others to mention - so grateful. DCS would not be what it is today for many of us without you lot doing such generous work for the community. (I know there are things people are disappointed with this year too, or things that we're looking forward to but haven't been released yet. I also know there's soon to be a 2025 and beyond, and there will be lots of discussions on what we're looking forward to as well. But for this thread, I would love to see focus on what we’re thankful for for this year. Please feel free to chime in and add to this list or have your say of what you appreciate). Let's keep adding to this list, coz I know there's plenty more that I'm thankful for that I haven't recalled yet.3 points

More corporate waffle. Jaap posted a hand-wringing apology in the comments there, "not how we're supposed to be, internal communication error yada yada", only for some guy to comment how he was threatened in PMs on your Discord by Jaap because he advised somebody else to cut his losses and get a refund. The general consensus now is that this behaviour is most certainly company policy and when we see a line like the one above, that absolutely REEKS of insincerity..."we want to express our sincere gratitude to Mark for his honesty" we know exactly how not-wrong we are. Lol. Gratitude? Say what? For getting angry enough to speak his mind in a video? Like he was doing you an intentional service? And "being honest"? Did you go on a corporate training jolly to learn how to produce sentences like that? Why don't you go through all the comments under that video, identify the large number of other Pimax customers who are reporting how they've been screwed over too and make them whole as well? Or is the soothing grease only for the VERY squeaky wheels?3 points

The guys I fly with and I have been working hard on a Vietnam style Coop mission over the Marianas. We have included the A-4, Cayuse mod, Bronco mod, then all 3rd party and ED modules that fit the time period. We have made the mission with the intent of coop/multiplayer in mind but works great solo. All enemies randomly spawn randomly over Southern Guam with customs FARPs spread throughout the jungle utilizing ED assets and 8 Balls Vietnam asset pack. We are aiming to get the FARPs as close to Vietnam as possible. We have also been reworking Anderson AFB to look closer to a Vietnamese airfield. This has not gotten old and we have been adding to it and working it over for months. About to release the updated version to include CSAR scripted mission, including when players bail out. You can jump in a Cayuse or Huey and go pick the pilots up. We have scripted bailouts during set periods of the mission so you can go try it solo if no one is on. I have a lot of videos on my channel talking about where we are at and where we are going with it. Eventually we are going to start the second half of this project and create a separate mission on the same map only up in Tinian and Saipan. Main reason is to keep resources low for lower end machines. We will still have birds out of Anderson and off the Carrier. We will SEAD operation up there, CAS, ect.... More to come. About to post a Cayuse video from this past Thursday. I jumped in the Cayuse after I landed the A-4.3 points

The reason 2x makes aircraft look “correct” is that any sort of approximation of a wide field of view results in “zooming out” essentially making what you are looking at farther away. ED has been captured by a subset of players and, possibly, employees who are not interested in making appropriate allowances for the limits of simulation. They actually believe they can create and inhabit a perfect replica of reality and cannot imagine any deviation from that ideal. It is frustrating. You say that someday there will be an alternative. Personally, I doubt that very much. I think air combat simulation is dying just as technology is making it exciting. My recommendation is to enjoy what you can, while you can. This is probably much nearer to the end than anyone realizes. And attempting any sort of discussion with SharpeXB is time wasted you will never get back.3 points

It's an Expansion Mod I am working on, originally the Wing Tanks Mod, has been expanded to Wintip tanks, Drop tanks, ILS/VOR, VHF, ADF Antennas and Export, Skoshi AAR Probes. But it was back burnered by some other priority projects in progress, w/ F-5E 2024 being public, I will likely hold the mod until after the remaster is released, and modify the Expansion mod to use either Legacy or Remastered files. I've already started working on re-building weapons table, and giving AI Export versions AGMs etc etc. And like I've been doing for other projects I'm working on/partnering with, This mod will install 100% in the SG folder and not have to be merged, managed, removed, re-installed after a DCS Update or break IC. Discussion / Updates on that mod were posted here: As for the ADF Antenna on the Stab / Spine? Brazil has those.3 points

Allow me to break the prolonged silence with a few clarifying words. The delay in the module's release is currently due to addressing the shortcomings in the flight model identified during the summer certification process by ED. Otherwise, the module is largely ready for early access.3 points

06.04.1999 - Mig-29 combat flight - Boro Zoraja Pilot: Major Boro Zoraja Airplane type: L-18 (MIG-29 9.12b) Airplane ID: 18101 Time: April 6th 1999, 23:00 Take off: Airbase Ponikve Landing: Airbase Lađevci Flight length: 40 minutes Interview with Major Boro Zoraja, pilot of MiG-29 1st video segment at 09:41 09:46 Narrator: While Major Milenković was waiting for a U2 mission, new orders were received at Ponikve airport. 09:55 Boro Zoraja: Exactly at the point when we went off duty and undressed for rest, around 23:00 the "Buzzer" (alert phone line) rang. 10:09 Boro Zoraja: I responded to the call. They gave us signal 1-into-number-1; take off, 6000 m, zone of expectation Kruševac, landing at airport Niš. 10:19 Major Milenković: "I will go to the car." 10:22 Major Milenković (loudly): "Number 1, lets go!" 10:24 Boro Zoraja: Once I sounded the alert, I started to dress. 10:31 Boro Zoraja: I took my uniform on, and hooked the upper part of the Anti-G suit, took Helmet into hand, and went to the vehicle together with Major Milenković. 10:42 Boro Zoraja: I continued dressing in the vehicle. 10:45 Boro Zoraja: The only thing I was thinking about was not to miss any of the details of the aircraft inspection and aircraft startup procedure. 10:51 Boro Zoraja: I did not rush when I was set into the aircraft, in order not to make a mistake. 11:01 Boro Zoraja: About other things I did not think about at all. You know, you think only about the assignment and that is your priority. 11:07 Boro Zoraja: You simply can not think about the family, friends or anybody else. 11:10 Boro Zoraja: You think only about the things you need to do at that moment. 11:15 ATC(radio): "Orao 356, full startup, as soon as possible to the runway!" 11:19 ATC(radio): "356th QFE 9-6-6, expectation zone Kruševac, 6000 m, report at traverse Užička Požega." 11:27 Boro Zoraja: I have confirmed, arrived in the zone Kruševac, reported arrival and they told me to take one of corso, left or right and await further instructions. 11:41 Boro Zoraja: I have made several 8s in the zone Kruševac, and at one moment, my SPO device for radiation signalling went wild. 11:53 Boro Zoraja: I heard the sound in headphones and SPO was fully lit and blinking. 11:57 Boro Zoraja: This means that I am locked by the enemy, who has already launched the missile(s) and that I have very little time to avoid the missiles. 12:06 Remark: story is interrupted and the narrator continues the story of Major Nebojša Nikolić. I will skip these parts and continue with the testimony of Boro Zoraja. 2nd video segment at 19:22 19:23 Narrator: Pilot Boro Zoraja is locked by enemy planes, missiles were launched at him and he had just a few seconds to attempt the escape manoeuvre. 19:36 Boro Zoraja: I pulled the stick onto one side, I do not remember which now, left or right and pulled up. 19:43 Boro Zoraja: I have pulled left and right, changed the turn, while climbing all the time, arriving at 8000 m, when I managed to drop their lock. 19:53 Boro Zoraja: The SPO device stopped showing a threat and there was no more sound in headphones 19:57 Boro Zoraja (radio to GCI officer): "Orao 356, I dropped outside of the lock, report the information on the enemy!" 20:03 Boro Zoraja (radio to GCI officer): "Olymp, Orao 356, do we hear each other. Please, Olymp 356, confirm if you hear me!" 20:11 Boro Zoraja: I repeated these messages several times, and while doing so, I started a free hunt, to scan and seek for the enemy 20:19 Boro Zoraja: I came to 6000 m and was on course between 130 and 140, and I detected 3 targets. 20:25 Boro Zoraja: I selected the nearest target and established the lock, the radar switched from scanning into targeting mode. 20:34 Boro Zoraja: That mode allows me to see the range of the targets. 20:38 Boro Zoraja: The target was at a distance of about 35 km, and was moving toward me. 20:43 Boro Zoraja: My next action was to flip the cover for missile launch trigger up, since we had a very high closure rate. 20:51 Boro Zoraja: It was just a few seconds and in the meantime he was already at a distance of 30 km, and at that moment I got spiked by them again, and SPO started to indicate I have been locked, while radar dropped the lock. 21:06 Boro Zoraja: My next reaction was simply to escape the missile launched at me. 21:12 Boro Zoraja: Again, 2000 m lower at ~4000 m, I managed to drop the lock, and started turning to search for them. 21:20 Boro Zoraja: I switched the radar into DOGON mode (pursuit mode) and started to chase after them. 21:20 Remark: While he speaks, the HUD is displayed showing active Radar and occasional targets. Note: this might not be original recording. 21:27 Boro Zoraja: At this point they were at the distance of 45 to 47 km, I locked the gas and chased them at the speed of 1000 km/h. 21:35 Boro Zoraja: What next! The only thing that worried me was that my missiles will not go off the rails, since I did not have the signal showing that the missiles are still mounted. 21:43 Boro Zoraja: I chased them for about 3 minutes, perhaps a bit more at that speed, while they moved toward south, toward heading 190. 21:55 Boro Zoraja: At that point I have been reaching the borders of (Northern) Macedonia and Bulgaria, when at some point I decided to abort. 22:04 Boro Zoraja: So what happened? The 3 targets split: 2 of them went to the left and right, while the 3rd continued straight. 22:15 Boro Zoraja: At that point I decided to interrupt the pursuit, turned the jet towards North and continued toward Niš. 22:15 Remark: According to later interview of Dragan Milenković, Boro Zoraja has landed at Lađevci airport, since at Niš airport there was no response over the radio. 22:20 Boro Zoraja: My flight was 40 minutes long, and this was the longest flight during the aggression. 22:25 Remark: story is interrupted again and the narrator continues the story of Major Nebojša Nikolić. I will skip these parts and continue with the testimony of Boro Zoraja. 3rd video segment at 50:40 50:40 Boro Zoraja: We were truly inferior, primarily due to having missiles of shorter range, and they could launch their missiles from distances of over 60 km at us. 50:53 Boro Zoraja: Accordingly, I had to get very close in order to achieve the conditions for the launch of missiles. 51:00 Boro Zoraja: This has to be under 30 km, in order for missiles to leave the rail, while they could do the same thing at distance of 60 km. 53:39 Boro Zoraja: Our radio connection with Operation Center and VOJIN systems, which are used for guidance, did not work, and essentially we had to rely on ourselves and onboard electronics. 53:39 Remark: VOJIN is acronym "vazduhoplovno osmatranje, javljanje i navođenje" - aerial surveillance, reporting and guidance. 53:53 Boro Zoraja: I got those enemy targets in free hunting (search mode). 54:01 Boro Zoraja: The only other thing I could do, was to accelerate toward them and hit them directly with my own jet, but doing this under night conditions is practically impossible. Interview with Major Dragan Milenković, talks about the events after Boro Zoraja proceeded to land at Niš airport. 4th video segment at 46:29 46:29 Remark: This is only part of a much longer interview with Dragan Milenković. The part I have transcribed is the one where he talks what happened after Boro Zoraja proceeded to land at Niš airport. 46:29 Dragan Milenković: According to the fuel level, he got the command for landing. 46:37 Dragan Milenković: He could not land at Niš airbase. Since nobody responded over the radio at Niš, he landed at airbase Lađevci, near Kraljevo. 46:47 Dragan Milenković: Since the complete pilot and maintenance crews, and aircraft support vehicles have remained at Ponikve, we have relocated the crews and equipment to Lađevci. 47:06 Dragan Milenković: We have continued our duty within RV and PVO at airport Lađevci. 47:11 Host: Since the plan of U-2 spy airplane intercept mission attempt was cancelled, you have received the new mission orders, and if I am correct it was on April 8th? 47:28 Dragan Milenković: That is correct. After the landing in late ours on April 6th (to April 7th), we have relocated and arrived at airbase Lađevci during the night... 47:43 Dragan Milenković: After familiarization with the situation, upon inspection of the airplane, maintenance crew have established that one of the course verticals is not working. 47:43 Remark: During the original documentary the date of flight is incorrectly stated as April 7th. This was likely due to the fact that the original report could be written only after the night relocation. Reconstructed flight The provided map is rough reconstruction based on interview and publicly known information. Sources 1. It is a bit humorous that I flew a Bomber in the late 80s in a game called Air Warrior by Kelton Flynn and Kesmai, where the bombers were human crewed, and we fought against or alongside 100 other players. The adrenaline flowed like crazy, and we planned missions for hours. Now, everyone wants the glitter, which sacrifices human interaction and player numbers. Having a human-crewed bomber that was part of a 100-plane mission with other human-crewed bombers and fighter escorts would be awesome...IMHO.2 points

ED (and @BIGNEWY in particular) do read these comments. We can even see that, occasionally, there is a tangible result. After a couple of years with DCS, reading the (too few) missives that do arrive from the Mothership, I tend to agree with Sidekick's assessment that ED attempts "Community Management", vis-à-vis "Community Engagement" [see the 09:30 mark in the linked video]: ED is intent to convince their community that what they do is right, rather than listening to them to hear what they have to say about DCS. In other words: I feel that most of our comments are tolerated, but not really welcome - unless they align with ED's own goals. For a simple, revealing example look no further that this page's welcome message: Note that the red coloration is ED's own. Ask anyone with experience in communications, and they agree what above statement screams: "stop bothering me, be brief, don't socialize". It's hardly surprising to me that we get the results that we do, and it's the main reason that I feel that ED can dramatically improve their engagement with the community. As long as ED seemingly regard most of us as a necessary evil rather than a resource for inspiration, the likelihood of our engagement with ED to be successful and/or rewarding stays miniscule. For reference, please find Sidekick's thoughts below, which to me (being a management type myself) ring true, and are an outsider's assessment (like mine). So, like mine, they may all be bull. I'm still hopeful that ED have mapped out their long-term strategy to better engage with us, their community, and are busy guarding against the obvious challenges that DCS is facing mid-term: a hollowed-out core, and accelerating slide in delivered quality. After so many years, DCS is approaching an inflection point, and I'd love to see 10 more years of DCS,2 points

Yeah but that doesnt really contradict what Karon was saying- the budget allowed for either aim 120 or lantirn, not both. Going lantirn gave the tomcat at least another 10 years of life- going the other way round would have led to an even earlier retirement.2 points

I stand corrected. Now that we know it happened - there'll be a new burst of requests for this feature. Fact is though - even if we wanted it, it can't happen. There's no push back feature, so you could drive the plane onto the elevator, but you're facing the wrong way to get it off... if pushback didn't happen with plane directors, then it's probably a reasonable assumption to say it'll never happen for elevators. I've got to admit that me personally, would love a 'walk to plane' feature. For no other reason than the carrier seems small in VR. I think that's because you're up high and in such a big aircraft. Having the ability to walk up to (or around) the aircraft might help to give people the greater impression of how big the whole area is. I'm not advocating for this (as I doubt this would be a thing either), but one can dream.2 points

The current modernized production version of Su-34 (Su-34M or Su-34NVO ("New capabilities")) is also able to perform reconnaissance (optical, radar and ELINT/SIGINT) and EW (jamming) tasks. Note that Soviet abbreviations like Su-24MP (EW version) or Su-24MR (reconnaissance version) are not used in case of Su-34 and the plane is just called Su-34M for any mission. For reconnaissance missions Su-34M is equipped with "Sych" ("Little owl") reconnaissance pod in one of its three versions: - UKR-OE (optical reconnaissance); - UKR-RL (radar reconnaissance); - UKR-RT (ELINT/SIGINT). Universal reconnaissance containers "Sych" in the Special Operations For EW (jamming) missions Su-34M is equipped with "Khibiny" (named after the Russian Khibiny mountain range on the Kola Peninsula) ECM pod. Khibiny (electronic countermeasures system) - Wikipedia Sych Reconnaissance pod is mounted on the centerline, Khibiny ECM pod - on the wingtips. I am a programmer, so I can comment with experience. And my comment is thus: I can say with absolute certainty that it might be just a few lines of code or might not be. Truth is - Unless you actually know the code and what's going on behind the scenes, you can't definitely know how easy or difficult it will be. You can guess. I've had functions to develop that initially sound like it's going to take ages to accomplish, and the reality was due to specific circumstances, etc - it was a dead basic 5 min job. Likewise though, I've had some functions that people have requested to be added that sound like they should be a 5 min job, and they're incredibly difficult (if not nigh impossible) to implement. There's so much that comes down do it that just because it seems it should be easy, doesn't always make it so. One can still hypothesize though, that if there are other things that cause the grass to disappear around areas such as FARPS, etc - then the functionality is already in DCS to a certain extent, so it should be simpler to implement - but even then - there can be so many "gotcha's" unless you're the one developing, or have inside knowledge of how things are coded you can never be certain. That being said - do invisible FARPS 'mow the lawns'? If so - is it possible to place invisible farps, make them inactive at that location as a workaround. (I have no idea, just throwing a workaround thought out there)? All that to write - that I +1 the OP's request to have the ability to remove grass from selected areas.2 points

For the GDR colours: I flew a photo mission in one of the Basepohl-based Mi-24Ds (96+28) of then HFS 80 in July 1991. Photo object was Mi-24P 96+50. All Mi-24s of the former East German Air Force retained their old camouflage, they only got the Iron Cross and a new tactical code applied (and the Federal German flag). Here is one of the pics:2 points

Elon Musk just caught a rocket ship with a giant pair of tweezers but DCS cannot solve a problem that was solved by another set of programmers two decades ago? I see you are running a state of the art computer, graphics card, and gear. What is the point of all that hardware when the game is not even up to half of what that system can do? Nothing can make a game more immersive in 2-d unless one goes the full cockpit and display dome route. Is that what DCS thinks is the best way forward? So the answer is, "We just do not want to do it." Your screen shot of larger aircraft in your reply shows it can be done, in fact DCS has done it, but the "Devs" do not want to apply it. Your argument the aircraft on the carrier look out of place is a strawman. I can think of several solutions for the carrier scale issue sitting at my bench right now. I cannot think of a solution to motivate "Devs" other than logic... and that is clearly not working. Eventually DCS will be eclipsed by a group of programmers who think outside the box DCS built for itself. Sorry one more thought: You stated in your response that a scale up for VR would be "exploited" in multi-player? Another strawman. There does not already exist an advantage for 2-d players against VR players now by forcing the VR player to look through a soda straw to see the other side's aircraft? You admit this in your rebuttal. This statement in indefensible on its face, so we are back to, "We just do not want to do it." You have to step away from the problem as someone defending the status quo and actually analyze what you are saying. Stovepipe thinking is deadly in actual combat. I have personally experienced guys getting shot down in real life because they would not adapt to the threat at hand. Every day DCS refuses to see outside its box brings it that much closer to its demise. Personally, I would prefer not to see that but acknowledge I cannot stop it if they will not listen.2 points

Hello, So this is a really long long topic. But I can quickly give a few examples from what I have heard. Note that I am no real pilot but have played DCS for quite some time now including with some real military aviators. - First, as far as I am aware, requesting engine start is not a thing in military or at least it is rather uncommon. - Always when you contact a controller or any new agency on the radio, you start with who are you calling, who you are, where you are and what you want. E.g.: "Nellies Ground, VIPER ONE, Two Vipers at Foxtrot one four three with Charlie for Taxi to active" --> you are saying who you are, where you are, weather info you have and what you want. Reply can be: "VIPER One, Ground, taxi zero three right via foxtrot, alpha, hold short zero three LEFT" Then readback can be very short and truncated from what I've heard: "zero three right, foxtrot, alpha, hold zero three left, viper 1" At the hold short, you would inform ground if he does not give you further instructions before you arrive there: "ground, viper1, holding short zero three left at alpha" He should clear you to cross: "viper1 cross zero three left, hold short zero three right and contact tower one three two decimal five five" readback: "cross zero three left, hold short zero three right, contact tower, viper 1" contacting tower once ready, since it is a new agencies, again who you call, who you are, where you are, what you want: "nellies tower, viper 1, two vipers holding short runway zero three right for departure " tower - "viper1, tower, wind is xxx for x, runway zero three right cleared for take off " readback "zero three right cleared for takeoff, viper one" -- at hold short, always ask for departure, and should always get cleared for take off. Never request clearance for take off, and should never get clearance for departure. -- Informational calls such as winds are not read back -- this ofc is simplistic example, and I will repeat, I am nothing but DCS enthusiast, so take this example with a grain of salt. If you will make NTTR missions, I strongly advice you to browse 476th website. They have really really good info on NTTR ranges, procedures, restrictions and targets. Also pretty neat NTTR template. https://www.476vfightergroup.com/nttr/nttr.php2 points

I will buy it even if zero new features. All the old modules need some upgrade, and people can't work for free. Better a huey 2 or a f-86 2 for 10 bucks, even without new systems, than a brand new mig-29 while you let the older modules rot in decay. I will buy f-5 2 and every other pay upgrade of older modules, provided that it's not just a new shiny look: the bugs must be carefully watched and corrected, both for the upgrade buyers and for people who will not upgrade.2 points

I'm happy for the update and will probably get it as soon as it's available. But this just enhances my opinion that the FC4 version should have been "downgraded " to a A model. I understand we're not gonna get a full fidelity A. So making the FC4 an A models would add a new aircraft to the game. And would let us use the A for those countries that used it.2 points

This Pod started life as the DLQ-3B it was used to counter Iranian F-14 and F-4 RADARS. Because our AN/ALQ-100 and ALQ-126's Threat library will not respond to an F-14 or F-4 RADAR system, because it does not see it as hostile, now it's for simulation purposes as far as I can tell. We had them during Operation Preying Mantis in 1988 to put on the F-14s, A-6, and EA-6B's. Only the Iranian F-4s got airborne, the Prowlers selectively jammed them and they turned around and went home. We never used the DLQ's. AT1(SW/SW) USN ret. 1977-1997 DECM Technician.2 points

1,000% this! Aside from just being able to play offline, I'm pretty sure I don't have enough internet speed to fly the other sim even once they get their current issues worked out. While the DCS downloads (esp. maps) take a llllooooonnnnnngggg time for me, at least it's one and done.2 points

If only they didn't disappear and not move/rotate with the view angle... it'd be great.2 points

Isn't that video more than a year old? I wouldn't give to much on it. But yes cancellation can always happen, for whatever reason. Let's hope it will not be the case here. Would be the second one after the VEAO one. Five and a half years waiting, blown up. Since then another 7 years have passed and the HB/TG one was first announced 4 1/2 years ago. Accumulative 12 years of waiting for a DCS EF. Add another 15 years or so waiting for a decent EF sim after DID's EF2000. I'm growing old.2 points
