OK dear fellows, Just a quick update on my upcoming Mi-24 campaign set in Afghanistan. As with all my previous campaigns, this one will be story-driven and supported with plenty of documentation—approach charts, briefings, and more. And of course, a must for me: full voice-over! Thanks to AI, voice quality and realism are getting better and better. For authenticity, all dialogues are in Russian with English subtitles. That said, a big apology to all native Russian speakers—while I do speak some Russian, my level isn't high enough to ensure 100% accurate dialogue. Sorry about that! Sure, I could try to find native Russian speakers to help, which would be awesome—but it would also take much more time to finish the campaign. And since it’s a free one... As of today, I’ve written 11 missions. The campaign spans about 10 days. 8 missions are ready, and 5 have been fully tested and (hopefully!) are bug-free. Cheers null7 points

Can we change the thread title to something like "High CPU usage in main menu/ME after update to 2.9.16.10523"? CPU temperature is none of DCS concerns. It's on the user to keep their CPUs cool and safe enough even with full CPU usage. And it can't be idle either since it gets hot.4 points

I'd really love to have the old "create fast mission" feature back. The new QAG is not quick, and it is way too much work to not be the full-fledged ME. I used the old one to create somewhat random "surprise" missions with lots of units. It was not perfect, but it was indeed fast and gave us the option of instantly creating a mini-scenario with lots of ground and air units. So far, the new QAG is just a paired down version of the Mission Editor... Maybe I just need to wait for the bugs to get squashed, but I'd love to see the Create fast mission generator stick around as an option. I find the full-on Mission editor itself to be awesome and plenty quick enough to create the more specific scenarios that the new QAG is currently providing.4 points

I used to be an air controller on Navy ships Navy ships don't just turn into the wind Those are all very planned events Navy ships don't just jump up on a whim and turn In most cases those are actually planned events for the entire battle group long before the ships even gets underway Sometimes months as scheduled in the OP ORDER The only thing that actually changes is the direction of the wind And they'll adjust the OP PLAN for that accordingly at that time So I suggest planning your routes on your ships determining when they're going to turn into the wind and when they're going to reposition and respot and recover aircraft so they can turn back into the wind and do it again That is the way they actually do air ops on the ship3 points

Official mod is a contraditon in terms, Now let's go to the idea itself. The solutions I think ED might be able to provide would be to add more advanced MiGs and Sus to the list of AI assets. Next I'd love to see more flyable Soviet strike planes. If you want a mod the best answer is to check out project flanker for from there. More cold war era planes would be the option3 points

The QAG in its current state is pretty painful to use. It's incredibly slow and isn't a fun experience. I'm hoping development of new features like the QAG and DTC continues full speed ahead. It's a bad feeling when cool new features get added and then seemingly set aside when focus shifts to other cool new half-baked features.3 points
-
Agreed. It doesn't help that it freezes and crashes every other launch for me. It just feels like a clunkier version of the Mission Editor, but with fewer options. I think the ME is awesome and that the old "create fast mission" generator was different enough to warrant its existence, too. But as for this, I will likely never touch the QAG again.3 points

Hello! Sharing my Marchetti S.211 3D model (in Philippine Airforce livery) that I made a couple of years ago! It started its life as a plain 3d model that I am constantly developing throughout the years. I have been a DCS fan and love the sim and just a few years ago (2020) decided as a personal project ( and for experience) decided if I can integrate my model for DCS. So here is my Marchetti S.211 model. Model and textures made by me from scratch. The flight model used for testing is the Basic Flight Model made by Servalpilot. Hope you guys like it! Decided to post it here on the 3D modelling section of the forums since it is not as near as a full blown mod yet. Some few instruments are functional. And bugs here and there Hope you guys like it! Hey guys, I'm re-organizing my modding workflow, so I just started a new thread for everything I'm currently working on (yes that includes the F-15EX, it's still top priority): You can find all future F-15EX updates as well as related projects I'm working on there. I won't be using this thread anymore. Thank you for all the support!2 points

I need to try preset J again. Edit: just tested it and it does look better than K. Ghosting is still minimal though. I think I will use J.2 points

No, the auto-pilot isn't implemented in the EFM despite those commands being there. However, it does a pretty good job of maintaining level flight. If you downloaded the enhancement mod, they're in there. They're the B-61's and you'll find them at the top of A2A missiles on pylon 5 and 7. "The F-15C avionics is still used for the F22. Since the 15C is an air to air only fighter, the avionics have no actual A2G capability. I fooled it by telling the avionics that the A2G weapons are A2A missiles of some flavor. As a result, the A2G bombs are gravity bombs only. There is no sight for them. The A2G missiles are anti-radiation missiles and will function in "self-protect" mode. They will go after the strongest and closest Radar signal they detect. Sometimes that will be an aircraft. Since they are anti-radiation, they're completely passive and can often catch an enemy unaware." We did the best we could with the missile code. Ranges beyond 100nm are iffy sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. And chaff is a thing baked into the code. The nuclear weapons do have nuclear warheads. The A2G anti-radiation missiles are pretty small, 0.05kt. So, they don't have a huge blast radius. Still, don't be right over one or near one when they detonate. Great for taking out an entire SAM site. The A2A ones have a 1.5 kt warhead and a much larger blast radius. Best to be >15nm away from the target. And remember, they will still detonate if/when they impact the ground. At the top of the A2G_Missiles.lua is the warhead definition. local W54_tactical_nuclear_warhead = { mass = 50000, -- mass = 1000000, caliber = 254, expl_mass = 50000, --NIGHTSTORM 0.05kt nuclear warhead. The smallest tacticasl nuclear weapon ever deployed, 0.01kt - 1.0kt yield. -- expl_mass = 1000000, --NIGHTSTORM 1.0kt nuclear warhead. The smallest tacticasl nuclear weapon ever deployed, 0.01kt - 1.0kt yield. piercing_mass = 6000, other_factors = { 1.0, 1.0, 1.0 }, concrete_factors = { 1.0, 1.0, 1.0 }, concrete_obj_factor = 1.0, obj_factors = { 2.0, 1.0 }, cumulative_factor = 2.0, cumulative_thickness = 0.0, } As you can see, I left the 1kt (max yield for that warhead) option in there but commented out. Switch it out for the mass/expl_mass and you'll get a much larger bang.2 points

On one hand, we need ED to keep kicking tires so we can enjoy DCS. On the other hand, they are starting to annoy a number of people. After CH-47 planned release fiasco and Afghanistan map I decided to hold on any future purchase of ED merchandise. Even though Mig-29 was and is my dream airplane, I am not buying it until it actually shows and is in decent state. And from what I can hear around, a lot of people feels the same. It has already been said and doing it once more won't matter one iota, but ED should start listening to its customers.2 points

Can we call it a matter of opinion. My experiences with DLAA vs MSAA, were that I much preferred DLAA. I've no idea how DLAA and DLSS are getting mixed up here. DLSS is the overall technology and most commonly refers to the upsampling capability. DLAA provides Anti-aliasing and doesn't upsample.2 points

I guess the issue is not just plain CPU load. I checked with other higher CPU load (most of the 32 cores >50%) applications and they run as cool as usual without driving the fans to a heart attack. I also wonder why the fans go crazy when DCS is just showing the main menu without any action, just waiting for user input. Makes no sense to me.2 points

Personally, I think the better solution would be peer counterpart and contemporary aircraft, to Soviet aircraft that can actually be developed. So 80s F-15A/C, F-16A Block 10/15 or C Block 25/30, and F/A-18A. The REDFOR aircraft still wouldn't have precision strike capability (only dedicated aircraft like the Su-25 have that). In that case I would absolutely support a full-fidelity MiG-27 or Su-25 or even a Su-17/22M3/M4.2 points

Link updated in first post. -------UPDATE 250526 Re-added countermeasures sensitivity to IR missiles. This value might not be doing anything but they shouldn't be completely resistant. Added the ability to use PYLON SIX for the IRST pods. Created a new model of two pods and positioned it in the same location. Added a new GUI image for the pair. Added the new pair to the pods.lua as the IRST-21 sensor. Set up lockouts in the F-22A.lua so that only one copy of the pods can be equipped at a time. Attempting to equip another pod to the same location that one already exists will remove the one currently equipped in favor of the new selection.2 points

В 2D я лучше вон, в The Last Of Us поиграю, Aliens: Dark Descend или еще в кучу 2D игр.

I would not risc the 4 modules gamble just for DCS when you also aim for low latency and likely 6000MT/s. That's not what 4 modules is for, for now. If you do math, rendering, AI...yes, then latency and speed is not so important, there, volume counts. I would go 2x 48GB, 6000MT/s and CL30 or lower if I had to buy today. If I needed it as a true WS, I would buy a Dell with Support...LoL2 points

The QAG needs randomization options. At this point, it is a large step-back from even the former Quick Mission Generator. The QAG, at this time, is simply the Mission Editor with 99% culled functionality. It does not provide any 'practicality' to the user, if the goal is to enable players to generate quick, fun missions. I understand that this is the first iteration of what is to come, but it is really not adding any value for the player at this time.2 points

Yeah, I think the CH-47 experience is the one that finally put me out of the pre-purchase world. I haven’t bought the MiG-29 and won’t until it is launched and shown to be in some basic functional state, and until we can see that the pace of updates / development is reasonable.2 points

I have been tracking the CH47 as my last purchase of a ED module since Nov 2024, I did this to see how development went after the big updates to it in October 2024, I considered the Apache to have a good dev cycle and thought this might too as I believed ED to have an experienced helo team, I was using this tracking to figure out if I would buy the MIG 29A in EA, based on the below list of added features since October 2024, its slowed to a crawl in the dev cycle, so I decided to hold of the MIG 29A My tracking was for added features not fixes to existing added features and I was looking for value added to make it fun to use in missions for its intended purpose of logistic, as you can see in 2025 we have had 2 added features and still have no ED added logistics features. 2024 October 30 - Major update CH-47 added items not fixes Added. Longitudinal Cyclic Trim (LCT) functionality in automatic and manual modes. LCT reduces fuselage nose down attitude as speed increases by tilting the rotors according to airspeed between 60 and 150 knots. This allows the fuselage to remain level for cargo and troops. Added. Differential Air Speed Hold (DASH) functionality (WIP). As you increase speed, the DASH, (a long tube in the flight controls with an actuator on each end) will increase in length. If you move the cyclic back to center, the aircraft will still maintain airspeed. This allows you to keep the cyclic in a more natural, centered position when flying at higher airspeeds. Added. ARC-201D and ARC-220 radios (WIP). Improvements to many MFD and CDU pages. Continue working on synchronization (WIP). November 2 - Hotfix CH47 - Nothing November 5 - Hotfix CH47 - Nothing December 5 - Major update CH-47 added items not fixes Improved. Synchronization of MFD screens and buttons. Implemented loading, display and addition of Fix Points to the flight plan Implemented display of FPP based on airfields/navaids with corresponding symbols December 12 CH47 - Nothing December 24 CH-47 added items not fixes Added. Trimmer options Added. Trimming with HAT on stick Added. Windshield wipers Improved. DASH tweaks Improved. Crew animation become faster when switching seats Improved. Further work on CDU pages 2025 January 21 - Major update CH47 - Nothing February 6 - Campaign Fixes only CH47 - Nothing February 20 - Major update CH47 - Nothing March 6 - Campaign Fixes only CH47 - Nothing March 20 - Major update March 26 - Hotfix CH47 - Nothing April 18 - Major update CH47 - Nothing April 22 - Hotfix CH47 - Nothing April 24 - Hotfix CH47 - Nothing May 6 - Campaign Fixes only CH47 - Nothing May 22 - Major update CH-47 added items not fixes Added: Liveries for Spain, Iran, South Korea and Royal Canadian Air Force Added: Collective position added to the Controls indicator2 points

ED seem to be trying to fullfill some checklist, releasing half-baked features with barebones functionality only so they can say "hey, we gave you what you wanted". Quick Action Generator: slow, cumbersome, for some weird reason it loads the terrain first (?) before giving you the option to select another one. DTC: primitive and barely functional. Mission Save: uselees for anything more complicated than you alone on the map bombing some static units. Most recent patch: +20 C° CPU temperature for AMD users somehow. The now unified DCS version is still Open Beta, they just changed the name.2 points

@BIGNEWY As a reference I created the R73 scenario again, but now with a player F16 instead. I tried it 10 times and the pilot survived 6 times! So I have a 0% survival rate against a R73 in a F/A-18 and a 60% survival rate against a R73 in the F-16. I don't know why the qa team is happy with the results, when they tested this for hours, but there is definitely something wrong with the hornet damage model. kind regards TEST_F16_PLAYER_SHOT_DOWN_R73_FROM_REAR.miz1 point
