If you are at @simgamingexpo in Chicago this weekend, you'll be able to try this short mission and see how it goes. You will also have an opportunity to meet & greet the head of the @airplane_simulation_company developing the Hercules for DCS by Eagle Dynamics and talk to JTAC RIFLE, who spent a lot of time flying the C-130 during his numerous deployments! 2. Regarding your preference for an earlier version of the Herc, I regret to inform you that if i had made such an aircraft, you would have been unable to operate it either a) without a full crew of humans b) within the next 5 years, as that's how long it would have taken me to implement a sufficiently advanced ai crew system to support you

  5. Comparing the Quest 3 and the Crystal Super on a system with a 9800X3D and a RTX 5090 is … silly I think. I have a 9950X3D (which in games I understand is comparable to 9800X3D) and a RTX 5090 - and I have both the Quest 3 and Crystal Super. The difference in is huge. I understand that Pimax has a pretty low requirement for the Super on their website. Personally I think that is misleading. I personally wouldn’t run it on a system without a RTX 5090 and a good CPU. Maybe a 4090. I have a system with a 4090 too (see signature), but for me that is unsatisfying… You CAN run it on a lower end system, and obviously you do. But I think it is a waste of money because you are missing out on what the Crystal Super has to offer, why it even exists- and you might as well spend your money elsewhere. I understand your concern, because first - the Crystal Super is super expensive- and paying for a RTX 5090 is very very expensive too. Is it worth it? For me - yes. But I am an older dude, Flight sims has been my hobby since 1983, and the investment didn’t bother me as much. 15 years ago I could not have afforded it. Yes, you can super sample the Quest 3 more with a RTX 5090 than with your 3080. It will run a lot better of course than with your present graphics card. But still - physically the Crystal Super has 327% more pixels than the Quest 3 to show…. But with your 3080 you don’t get the experience that is intended with the Crystal Super. What should you do? Don’t know. It’s a lot of money. Maybe enjoy what you have, or try to get a “cheaper” second hand RTX 4090 and enjoy your Quest 3 even better. The Quest 3 gets quite an uplift going from a 3080 to a 4090. Especially since the rest of your system is good.

  8. @BIGNEWY Although it is a small percentage of the DCS user-base that uses display exports, it is arguably the most passionate slice of the user-base, and probably the ones that spend the most money on peripherals and modules. ED is constantly thanking us for our "passion and support", but you seem to be ignoring (or at least downgrading) some of the requests from your most passionate supporters. Please consider allocating some resources to this and other "niche" bugs (like display exports being too dark). These passionate users tend to spread the word about how awesome DCS can be, and I would think keeping them happy is worth something.

  9. Вот кстати, в ДКС очень не хватает промежуточного варианта между горячим и холодным стартом. Когда самолёт уже стоит под питанием, инерциалка выставлена, все системы требующие прогрева\подготовки включены.
    3 points
  10. Not necessarily. You have to visuallize the radar beam going out of the SAM station pointing at for example your aircraft. The Shrike needs to ride that beam down, more or less. If you fly elsewhere, the SAM will keep the radar beam on you and your shrike will stop being able to "ride it down" as it now does not sit on the line between you and the SAM anymore. Same happens when the SAM decides to do business with another aircraft that isnt right next to you. Or when it decides to switch to optical tracking, turning off its radar. Or when it sees the shrike and rather turns off their radar last minute to stay alive. There are many cases that result in your missile hitting the dirt.

  12. If you're not providing updates and you're not giving owners of early access modules a response when they ask what development is being done, then the module is effectively abandoned. This module is dated before its even been completed. Why should people keep buying EA modules if this is how development is going to go. It's the same with the supercarrier, just endless early access.

  14. No clue what everyone is talking about not being able to go faster than 200 mph. Took off from Batumi, 50% fuel, 100% gun, no stores, default weather. Climbed at 5 minute mil power to 5000 ft and then went to rated power per the knee board 2550 rpm and 49.5 inHG MP at low blower for speed testing. Topped out around 266 knots IAS, with oil cooler adjusted to keep it below red (I think it was closed, or just cracked), intercooler open enough to keep the over temp light off, and the cowl flaps cracked. If I buttoned it up and ignored the lights I'm guessing I'd get a few more knots IAS. At 5000' MSL on a STP day, 266 knots IAS, is 285 knots CAS, or roughly 328 MPH. Well in excess of 200 mph. I then climbed at rated power to 30K, I don't recall exactly when I passed the critical altitude for the supercharger. I hit 30K, with about 37 inHG, and was climbing at 1500 fpm at 130 knots IAS, and took about 15:30 to do it in. I'm not sure what the issue everyone is having? Then engine thermal model has some oddities, but as far as climb rates, speeds etc, I'm not seeing glaring issues. I don't know how it tracks the real numbers because I've seen probably a dozen different charts that all differ now, but I'd say it's certainly in the reasonable ballpark.

  15. The problem I saw in Wags' latest video is that there was "knots", "feet" and "miles" everywhere on the gauges. Yes I'm aware that you can set English cockpit and English avionics options separately, but those are LANGUAGE options and it seems in DCS they also change the UNITS without saying that they do. I hope that on launch we'll be able to set English LANGUAGE while retaining the proper UNITS. Because if you set English cockpit and Native avionics, parts of the cockpit will still be in Russian (it's like that in current modules as well such as Mi-24). Again, those options should just affect the language, not the units.

  16. Yeah. The main takeaway is that the radar needs to point at the Shrike. Which the SAM has no interest in, it follows you or other aircraft. So that is something you have to keep in mind regarding positioning and similar.
    2 points
  17. Not technically a beam rider. It just tracks an emitting radar by its main lobe only. The radar has to illuminate the Shrike's seeker with the Main Lobe for the Shrike to track. This means that my attack profile usually involves a split-s. Remain in line with the axis you fired on.

  27. The magic comes not from any technical wizardry but from how our brains perceive latency. When repeatedly exposed to latency of up to around 150msec our brain adapts and we perceive events such as our motor input on the controls and the visual feedback in the headset as being simultaneous. That however does not make the events simultaneous in reality and means that for things where a delay could be significant (like say oblique gunnery in BFM) the effect is still there even though we don’t perceive it. So when someone says they can’t feel any latency with a standalone headset they are entirely correct, they can’t feel it. That doesn’t mean however it isn’t there.

  28. I took from another's strike fire in the downloads section, now I can't find the file, then I ran across your script here. I will post to here, I believe this enhances yours! Strike Fire V1.1 – Mission-side utility script for DCS that lets you call precision launcher strikes via map marks ([FIRE] / [CLEAN]), with smart target selection, budgets, cooldowns, and no client mods required. Strike Fire V1.1 is a mission script that lets you call in launcher strikes by dropping a map mark like [FIRE]. It automatically finds valid enemy targets near the mark, picks the best available launchers (HIMARS, ATACMS, Iskander), and assigns them to fire one missile each. New in V1.1: Prevents rapid double-triggering (flood lock). Tracks per-unit cooldowns and ammo budgets (persist through mission). Smarter target choice (SAMs/artillery/armor first, no shooting too close to friendlies, no crazy mountain shots). Marker overrides (e.g. [FIRE R=800 B=10 FAMILY=GMLRS]). Safer ROE handling (won’t break AI settings). Expanded compatibility (vanilla + mod launchers). [CLEAN] resets all state and clears spawned units. Practical use in-mission [FIRE] → Default strike package around the mark. [FIRE R=500] → Shrinks search radius to 500m. [FIRE B=12] → Allows up to 12 shots per launcher family, per unit. [FIRE FAMILY=GMLRS] → Only task HIMARS with GMLRS. [CLEAN] → Clears all internal state and spawned groups Strike Fire V1.1.lua

  30. It would be very helpful to add text to the Controls Indicator overlay to differentiate between Propeller, Throttle, Blower (Super Charger), and Mixture axes. I added text using GIMP; the text may be oversized but it could be resized accordingly. I wanted to have the vertically oriented text be superimposed on the respective axis with it outlined & filled. But GIMP was not cooperating with me. As an alternative, adding P (Propeller), T (Throttle), B (Blower/Super Charger), and M (Mixture) at the bottom of the axes would also be informative without being intrusive. Could this be added to the module?

  31. As some may know I service SoHo and smaller companies like up to ~25 people, nothing too big, so it's relative comparable to what can happen to you, me, everybody. Today was such a day, nothing really special, replace old HW with Win10 with 6 new Win11 Pro clients which put together, GB-B850-9600x-1TB 990Pro-Seasonic Platinum 500w fanless-32GB_6000 and a DarkRock-5 in a nice and quiet bequet tower. The building was fun despite 1 MB was DOA, but they just flew. Did that 2 weeks ago and today I planned to roll them out. Save Data and Mail from old PC to server Setup local LAN static IP and DNS rename PC join AD setup accounts install all LAN printers restore Data and Mail rinse & repeat...1..2..3..4..5..BANG !!!!! I accidently ended up on the wrong desktop, i was in RDP on Server instead of on the local Desktop, both had 2 File Explorers open, Task manager, windows over windows, I opened the the RENAME THIS PC on the wrong Desktop !! ME IDIOT !!!! I RENAMED THE Active Directory Controller, AD-DC, to PC-3 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hit OK and then found out FUUUUUuuuuuuu§& WRONG RDP --> WRONG FILE EXPLORER --> WRONG CONTROL PANEL -----> GOD DAMN WRONG MACHINE to rename and I picked the worst machine you can possibly rename while in production and running THE DOMAIN CONTROLLER My blood froze, my pulse went to 180 from chilling low 60s, my promise to be home at 19:30h THE LATEST suddenly became a lie and my biggest fear was: "You're gonna either have some damn luck, PRETTY SOON, or you end up with Acronis, putting the Backup from last night on" Ya, after you made the bootstick, 20min, went upstairs to the server. a real ClusterFu%§ visualising what was ahead of me if I didnt come up with something quick, quickly . So, I know how to rename a DC, you DON'T do it like you do with any other Windows machine, it's a Powershell command, 3 of them iirc, with reboots and DNS entries. Not complicated, but must be obeyed or you screw up the directory, or your access to it...f you only run 1 DC, that must be said to be fair. OK..Google... it says...you did the WRONG thing, there is NO easy way out, you either use a Backup or REINSTITUTE the Domain, which basically means you might as well reinstall the whole damn thing, that's 1 day alone if ALL goes right. I did that server and it is not difficult, just a lot of stuff and it takes time and care. So...I had no choice.. I had to reboot it while I was there, no way out, you dont want to expore the outcome of that 40km away and only VPN,Teamviewer/RDP/VNC at hand. OK, the server has an Enterprise Dell iDrac that I can access from here, that would have worked even from remote...but here it goes. So I rebooted, there was no "rename again" back to SRV possible, it needed the reboot to commit. So I did. It booted to login screen, so far so good. At least no AD DB error while booting, that is a total mess then. OK, OK...so far great...try to login.. Login as admin and pwd --> Red Pop-Up --> No security entry in AD Database for this workstation. Login denied! OHH SH!T You cannot log into the local domain aka PC/Server on a DC, it is ALWAYS a log in into AD-admin. So I could not do SRV\administrator to log into the Server locally w/o Domain. I tried despite I knew it wouldn't work and it didn't, waah ! You're finally screwed !!!! You have a booting 2022 AD-Controller with a wrong name that doesnt connect to the network, doesnt show shares you could connect to and SOMEHOW work, heck, if the SQL's would run, I'd have more time to sort out things...but this beast doesnt do ANYTHING but boot to Welcome screen and sit there forever. mI also couldn't even finish the 6th PC and drive home, I was about to join AD when that happened There is no guide on Google or in AI that tells you how to redo that mishap. It's a nail in the server's coffin that you usually don't get out again. That is what gave me headaches, the not having options to fix it, just FIX IT, god damn, it's only a few lines of code...ok maybe a few more it's AD and thus deeply DNS integrated...WTF, how could you fall into exactly this pit, this No-Way-Out pit, with a big "How to Sink a DC" sign above it in Neon. Aaarghhh, a big client..and you screwed up his DC, it better runs Monday morning 7am, no matter what, no matter. So...I have it all on Acronis on a Linux Server as well as in Acronis Cloud, that would be the ultimate thing to fix it if I didnt come up with a solution, something dead simple, stupid simple, as quick&dirty as the renaming was. But what. OK,...lets try F8 and Safe Mode, maybe there is something that can be done.....but wait....I cannot reboot or shut it down. The DC-Server Welcome Screen in contrast to Client Windows OS has no Button to restart or shutdown, it's a safe guard. Well, lets see Dell's iDrac....but there have never been drivers installed in the OS for any iDrac, so I did not expect see a graceful OS shutdown/reboot option, just the normal AC operations which I knew. I was right, no graceful options, warmstart or cold restart or OFF. Yeah, what a freaking nightmare, I have to reset the server now as well, a Russian Roulette with AD Database and RAID's, you never reset server unless you really really really have to. I had to ! Show balls !! Grab it btP ! I hit warm restart and was then greatet with a UEFI Secure Boot error, luckily I could just say "screw you, I already have enough trouble!" and clicked it away and it kept booting through the many Dell UEFI and FW screens, I kept hitting F8 over and over agin. Made it, Boot options came up 1 to 9..or 0 god knows. 4 is Safe Mode.... but wait....boot to LAST KNOWN WORKING CONFIGURATION ! ???? OK, that is not ment to fix any AD structural damage if there is any but it should rewind the actual PC-settings I changed a reboot ago !? Let's try, there is really nothing to loose but the 5min it takes to boot. If it screws up and crashes I go the Acronis route, chill and wait until restored, if Acronis lets me down I am screwed, then I am gonna spend Sunday here, for free, fixing my sh!T. Monday 7am is deadline. The server booted, as before, login available, no errors so far....now try the usual DOMAIN\administrator PWD and see if it locks up. TATTAA....It fixed it, dead simple decade old rescue option fixed the misconfig, in a very lucky way I admit. The narrow path with too much domain on one side and too severly misconfigured HW on the other side, this option was golden, it saved a lot of work, money and effort. And I, I will, after 30 years, watch even closer now..on which RDP or Desktop I am before I rename a machine in a Directory ! I really felt baaaad the first 5 minutes after it happened, the"You screwed it Up!" hit hard. Anyway, that server booted as nothing ever had happened, DNS was correct, DHCP changes I made were also still present, all good. Fixed that last PC, printers, users, Mail, done. When I got home, 2h late, my step daughter looked at me, said "You know how late you are!!?" went out and took off...LoL I still felt great, still do, having a beer and typing this.... better than installing a 2022 SRV with AD, Rolls, Software, Users and what not else till 2am and all Sunday too. Done that, thank you, my beer tastes a lot better than that ! God save the command "Revert to last known working configuration" Prost

  35. Yep, there are some edge cases where a slight reduction in RPM can eke out a bit more performance. But this cannot be used as an explanation why the aircraft does not match its published performance figures (which were measured IRL at max RPM setting, unless stated otherwise in the manual).

If I recall correctly, my motherboard wouldn't induce the issue as it is a basic motherboard for personal reasons AFAIK. Of course I would read a lot more nearer the upgrade. Thank you for the writing. It is something to consider too, although I'm leaning more towards the intel upgrade, depending on the 14th gen condition at the time. Thanks!

  38. Yes; hit the Target Designate/Locate Function - Select / HOG Menu Page Down keybind that you can bind for the OH-58D Copilot (it's not available for the OH-58D Pilot category!). Keep the key depressed for a couple of seconds. I think you need to also fire the laser for an accurate coord to be generated. It'll then show on the Copilot's screen, and you can save the target with the L4 STORE Line Address Key on the Copilot's screen to have it available later on.

  39. The endurance as shown on the HSD and VSD is currently calculated as h.0 hours instead of h.mm hours and minutes. I'm pretty sure it used to be calculated correctly in a previous version, but am not sure when this was broken. Currently seeing the issue in 2.9.19.13478 In the attached screenshots, the endurance is given as either 1.0 or 2.0 hours depending on the current fuel flow, with no in-between values. The issue seem reminiscent of the odd ETE calculation as reported here. KW_Endurance.trk

  47. Dont get me wrong, I still have a blast with the module. But I believe its fair to keep in mind all that we are still missing for the DCS F-16C. A great summary was posted back in 2024, then this topic was locked: TLDR Version: Major Missing/Incomplete Systems Damage Model – Basically nonexistent beyond wings/fuel leaks. No combat system damage., Pilot Fault List (PFL) / Maintenance Fault List (MFL) – No proper fault reporting or error messages., Steerpoints & Navigation – Missing SEAD steerpoints, threat points, proper CRUS TOS behavior., airspace navaids ect. Digital Terrain System (DTS) – Entirely absent. No PGCAS, TRN, or digital terrain awareness., ECM – Ineffective jamming. No control over bands, poor logic, no realistic jamming effects., Combat Capability Gaps SEAD – Broken ECM, no HARM DL/TI/GS modes, no emitter memory, bad HAD integration., RWR (AN/ALR-56M) – Incorrect symbology. No threat priority, no missile distance cues., A/A Radar – No COAST mode, over-sensitive to notching, STT is unreliable, broken HAFUs., ect A/G Radar & Weapons – Broken radar mapping. JDAM/JSOW/GBU-24 logic still incomplete or missing. CCIP bombing is off. Some weapons not implemented at all., Other Major Issues Lighting – Poor NVG compatibility. Flood lights weak or missing. Night ops are frustrating., Textures – Cockpit (behind ejection seat not modelled) and external textures are low quality. Custom liveries have had to pick up the slack... Missing panels, details, etc., Tankers/Refueling – No boom physics. Poor lighting. No feedback from boom ops. TACAN logic is wrong., Documentation – Manual is outdated, often incorrect. Leads to confusion and misinformation., "Jealousy" Issues (Things Other Modules Have) No ARC-210 radio, HSD Expanded Data, IFF, or HAVE QUICK — all of which are present in the F/A-18C, A-10C, F-15E, etc., No L16 Mission Assignment, which is present in M-2000C and applicable to this jet., Many of these are simple DED page updates and already exist in other modules.
