  1. IMHO prop-planes ground physics, suspension, friction, call it what you want, is off in DCS, P-47 "feels" good though, it's been many years I flew tail-d's RL, but here's a comparison video of an RL P-51 driver's opinion vs DCS:
  2. Don't worry, there will be an announced release date, before that video's, tutorials, marketing etc. They won't just drop it on a random OB update, never happened before! You'll have plenty of time to pre-order.
  3. No word on the arcadish trap-model physics?.....it's not on the roadmap anymore? Forget about the A-6 if it's going to glue itself on traps like the F-14!
  4. Latest op. PG-map. In no-moon light NVG is broken, ground is totally black, even over lighten up city's. With little moon-light NVG is ok. See track, pics. NVG broken no-moon .trk
  5. Unrealistic 2 extra "Fantasy pylons" no FLIR, no night capability. =no buy!
  6. Same here 1 week of constant ME CTDs, must have sent 100s of those "crash reports".
  7. Mi-24 trim in action:
  8. Also seeing 30-50% fps drop withe the new clouds.
  9. Shturm & maneuver +/-60 degree from the target sounds impossible. They will be a hard to deploy effectively. Lead developer's own words. https://stormbirds.blog/2021/01/09/new-dcs-mi-24p-information-translated-from-russian-interview/ Q: How is the Raduga-Sh sight modelled? A: The person in the front seat, after the switches are set and the system warm-up is done, approaches the periscope which will cover the screen. The person can choose the zoom level between 3x and 10x. The sight is steered with either mouse, keyboard, stick buttons or axes. A big difference is that the operator does not control angular position but rather angular speed. This is a big difference. If you move the mouse left for example, if you move it a bit the sight will move slowly to the left. If you move a lot it’ll move faster. If you stop giving additional inputs, it’s going to keep moving until you give a right input to nullify the angular speed. The sight moves 45º to either side, with 60º line of sight accordingly, and +15º/-20º vertically with the same LOS result. The sight will stay on target only if the helicopter is stationary, otherwise the operator has to continuously update its position. Doing so is an art, you can’t just place the pipper target and go drink tea like the Ka-50. It’s a semi-automatic system. The missile will go wherever the sight is set, regardless if it’s a tree, a tank or a bird, it doesn’t care. You have to keep the sight on target. It’s still stabilised and drifts very slowly so there are cases where the mark won’t move. If the pilot manoeuvres with more than 20º of bank, the gyroscope hits its limit and that’s it, the sight will jump away. That’ll be modelled, it’s not in there right now but it will be. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take the Mi-8 or Ka-50 put on rockets & heavy guns. Place moving soft targets with "dispense under fire off". You won't destroy much coz of splash-damage. Add a Shilka, AAA-truck or manpad & you're dead. This is what Hind will be like, minus the Shturms, but with all-seeing sniper-AI you're dead either way. Splash-damage & all-seeing sniper-AI are a game-breaker in DCS for helis gameplay.
  10. Did you click on the links? I'm talking about rockets/bombs splash-fragmentation damage against soft targets.
  11. This is how it works RL
  12. With antitank-missiles, it may be effective, but still challenging coz of the periscope-sight, time & high-speed to aim, according to the lead developer PilotMi8. With the current splash-fragmentation damage the rockets won't bring much in terms of semi-realistic combat scenarios. Right now DCS is only semi-realistic with precision weapons: In terms of combat effectiveness even against light-armored enemies I'm setting my expectations very low.
  13. Thanx, waiting for the update. Glad you agree that "certainly a naval module is not really complete without it". To the rest of you calling me derogatory names etc. I asked 2 times during 2 years for this, I'm not spamming the forum. It's a feature that was promised before release & that the F-18 had from day 1. Waiting 2 years is frustrating. But you some of you just have to refer to personal attacks & the usual "EA" excuses on HB's behalf & self-satisfaction. Some of you doesn't even seem to have a comprehension what this topic is about! Fact is that there was even a long thread sticky that @Victory205 posted "F-14 Case I Patter/Landing Tips" with a comprehensive PDF, where he explicitly described how challenging traps will be with the new "sophisticated trap mode". That thread was taken down without any explanation. This topic was very much alive at F-14 release......
  14. You must have been flying the F-18 then, coz F-14's trap-physics are as bad as the A-4 FREE MOD! Just remember every time you trap in the F-14 is like trapping in a free mod, your traps ain't worth squat, so don't pride yourself . Disrespectful? Credit is when credit due, what have we got after 2 years? No Forestal, Lantern AI, Dynamic Cockpits, but yey we got the F-14A that almost nobody flies & the F-14 was supposed to be finished 1 year after release, & then It was this March, congrats HB, well done job NOT! I pre-ordered & paid $70 for this, I specifically asked Cobra if the F-14 will get the same trap-physics like the F-18, he replied "Yes, shortly after release", SO I'M BLOODY ENTITLED TO COME HERE & ASK (EVERY 6 MONTHS) FOR WHAT WAS ADVERTISED & PROMISED! but from now on I'll ask every month! What's more important then trap-physics now? the for 2 years, constantly worked on Aim-54s, Radar, Jester, tuning of FM? It's time to concentrate & make the F-14 truly an name worthy "Naval DCS module". HB you pride yourself for "realism", it's embarrassing the F-14 an NAVAL aircraft still has, simplistic arcadish trap-physics, after 2 years! get a grip on yourself & deliver!
  15. There are AFAIK only ILS, VOR, no combined VOR/DME or ILS/DME. Only TACAN's & RSBN's gives you radial/distance info. To bad IMO.
  16. Using CRS CCW/CW button bindings for TACAN course, makes my crs-line spin unstoppable? (have to use mouse to stop it).

  18. Aleksandr ‘PilotMi8’ Podvoisky, lead Mi-24 developer on hover: Q: How is the Mi-24 in a hover? Many say it can’t hover for long and the engines don’t have enough power for that. A: Those are just fairytales. If you fill up the feed tank and the temperature is around 0ºC, the Mi-24 can hover on cruise power all the way until fuel runs out. On take-off power, you can hover for six minutes. You can do it for longer until they break, but in real life if you exceed those limits (like hovering for an hour on take-off power) the engines will be removed from service after that flight. For example, my comrades when we flew in Chechnya said all flights were made on take-off power because you want to have speed and power at hand in combat. The engines don’t fall apart after 6 minutes, or even 1 hour, the death is gradual. The blades on the turbine slowly change geometry and lose their aerodynamic properties, the momentum on the turbine drops and power becomes less available. For the pilot, you’ll see the EGT increase over the course of a month for the same setting. After six months flying like that, a helicopter that works on such conditions will have eaten through engines meant to last for a year. By then it won’t fly well, won’t hover for long and so on. In game we can add some limits, but in real life I can tell you I’ve never ever heard of an engine failure on the TV-117 engine that did not have an external cause. https://stormbirds.blog/2021/01/09/new-dcs-mi-24p-information-translated-from-russian-interview/
  19. It's a ED/DCS problem, not mission-maker's. How can mission-makers change e.g. this ridiculous fragmentation-damage? (& AI snipery , as discussed earlier). Mk-82 Bomb lands beside a truck convoy. Convoy continues to drive like nothing happen....this has been known for ages. Same with rockets & other weapons. AI snipery & behavior, rockets/bombs fragmentation-damage has to be redone. Mi-24 will be just as "survivable" as Mi-8 & Uh-1 are, which is pretty bad & frustrating. Mi-24 will be redundant in a semi-realistic A2G mission environment. I'm 100% sure it will be a wonderful module, but I'm also 100% sure it won't have a semi-realistic fun mission experience.
  20. I'm no expert but...Yes I do, 5-6 at least +10 damaged easily with drivers ending up with lungs collapsed from bomb shockwave. Another test: Driving WWII trucks, mk-82 hits just beside one of the trucks, the column happily drives on like nothing happened?? RL I imagine 3-4 trucks would be destroyed, with some drivers having their lungs collapsed & the rest heavily wounded, from bomb shockwave . @NineLineDo you think this test results are me & others imagining thins? You see nothing wrong? Took me 4-5h to do the tests, write posts, sort out, shrink pics, tracks. If you think the damage model is so good, then show us a test ED? or keep things as they are & you'll never see WWII flourish in DCS. Shame on me for beta-testing I'm done with this crap, ED & you are blind to the issue & ain't listening anyway..... mk82 mov trucks DAMAGE TEST 3 .trk
  21. I'm sure an mk-82 would do more damage to those WWII trucks....plenty of more similar pics.
