Had to ask for a refund on Afghanistan, for a map that was supposed to come with a helicopter, it looks nothing like the trailer, everywhere I look when flying in Helmand, I see bad textures, water the seems like it defies gravity, odd graphical bugs almost wherever I look. First times I flew and looked on the map I literally thought something was wrong with my download like when my Normandy 2 upgrade didn't work and most of the map was low quality. I hope these things can be fixed, but given this looks like the standard satellite made map problems. I'm not sure this can be fixed in DCS. This is the first refund I've done. I already have 2 "only fly at 10 000 feet and above maps" in Kola and South Atlantic. I had hoped those maps showed the problem with using satellites to make maps. Not everything looks terrible, some parts with lots of houses and lots of green fields like fine. But I don't plan on flying just there.

They've said south West Afghanistan is mostly done. This does not look mostly done

I stand corrected. The branches are indeed naked, there might just be too many branches, giving the feeling of lots of leafs.

Can someone from ED confirm that Helmand should look like this or if something is wrong? Everywhere I look there are odd graphical bugs, spiky pyramids rising up from the ground, Helmand river not connected all the way, deep square holes.

I've done a repair, I've uninstalled and reinstalled it. No help

Yes, because that's what trees look like in winter. by having dead brown leaves, the map looks much more brown and less white than it should.

Looks like Nevada to me. And this is all from the supposed high rez part. It looks so off. I'm thinking it might actually be something wrong with the installation of the map

Because to me it looks like something has gone wrong with the map install.

Well G2 doesn't have eye tracking. So that shouldn't affect it at all.

Damn it. Looks like standard brown dead leaf winter trees instead of the leafless trees that should be in the winter. And are the pine/spurce tress green or are they too brown for some reason?

Not a major complaint. I'm sure it will be worked out. But isn't there a single internal tester that uses VR with Eye tracking and Quadview? Since Quadview just doesn't work with this patch. A single tester with that setup could have told ED about it. Or was ED aware but didn't have time to fix it, as they needed to get the patch our?

Should really get some basic cold war infantry. For the middle east you just need some guys in beige uniforms some iron pot helmet. 1 with AK and 1 with a machine gun. And you have infantry that is "meh good enough " for much of the middle east from 60s to 90s.

Apparently Quadview has stopped working for those that use it(like myself, but hasn't tested) it appears to be universal for all Quadview users

I've heard the same. Haven't tested yet. Would be i shame if we have to wait 6-8 weeks for that to be fixed.

Don't help having long range bombers to places that don't existed anymore or have modern skyscrapers. Vietnam today doesn't look like Vietnam in 1970. Tokyo today. Don't look like Tokyo in 1944 etc. So no spherical earth is of no help for historic maps. And Wags himself has said the historic maps(named Vietnam and Korea specifically) will need their own map. Separate from spherical each that will be modern.

Clearly the spherical earth will be of no use for historical maps. So any map from 1903 to 1990 would need it's own hand made map. And if EDs spherical map is anything like the one in that civilian sim. It ain't gonna be much use except for long range high altitude stuff.

There are British riflemen. But lots of British stuff is missing. Not even a bren carrier.
