Military Assets for DCS by Currenthill

Is there a unit you've love to do, but haven't been able to find a reasonably priced asset for? -

If there were an issue tracker, I'd place the severity quite low. -
Chinese Landing Ship by MingGe(Updated)

Very cool! More landing craft are always welcome. The helipads aren't very usable by players due to FPS issues but seems to be common. -

That is by far the quirkiest artillery I've ever seen. Well done! -

If the goal is to put high quality models behind a paywall, they do need some way of preventing people from pirating easily. If the DRM schema reduces the functionality of DCS (we can no longer create liveries as before) then that's a significant ethical problem.
-
Absolutely gorgeous. Texture replacement?
-
if the plan is to put ultra-high-definition models behind a paywall, i'd be willing to buy that if the plan is to force livery makers spend money on top of their own time and effort to improve DCS, I'd rather burn the money in a stove.

I notice that when AI is heavily loaded. -
I don't mind low quality pilots. Polygons add up, after all. I could understand blocking livery making if the models were the ones shown in teasers, but these - particularly the B1 - look like they're LOD models. Surely there's nothing sensitive about letting people make liveries for that?

Theoretically, a missile with a low probability of intercept radar could track a target without triggering RWR. I don't know if that's what's being modeled here, however. -
JAS-39C by Whisky Actual using JF-17 avionics
Citizen replied to whisky.actual's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
(How am I the first to comment on this?!) Incredible work, Whiskey. The JF-17 was very low on my list of modules to get and this just pushed it to the front of the line.- 67 replies

'Properly used by the AI' in terms of tactics? I would argue that none of the DCS assets are used properly by AI by that standard so it's a bit of a moot point. 'Properly used by the AI' in terms of what the AI can do with other, more modern assets? That's a few weeknights of work. I suspect that the real holdup is somewhere with - as you said above - damage states and animation, along with a healthy dose of dev/artist time being diverted to triage more pressing issues. But I don't know for certain.

The year is 2039. The community is upset that DCS uses old models from 2023. "I went up to it and licked it and it didn't even taste like anything! complete placeholder flavor profiles." With that being said, I think we've been seeing the same B-1B in promo material for over a year now. I can't wrap my head around what could be causing the holdup on an AI asset that looked great a year ago, but there's a lot I do not know.

It looks like - at least on this carrier - they taxied under their own power. 21:20 shows that, again at least on this carrier, they had steering assist via towbar to catapult. It's really disconcerting to see flight deck personnel run underneath moving aircraft. -

I think I mentioned previously that my father served in the USN. He was on the Ashtabula, the L.Y. Spear, the Detroit, and the Platte. Dad and I got into flight sims when I was quite young - 12 or so. Before we had the internet, we would take turns flying A-10 Attack! on the Macintosh. Later, we flew together in Dawn of Aces, Warbirds, and I think a short stint in Aces High. He went down the dark road of NASCAR racing simulation, but got a real kick out of screenshots I sent him of your assets in DCS and always had a story to share about whatever particular ship I had screenshotted from above. I think he was really happy to see the AS/AO/AOE classifications represented in a sim. I think he toyed with the idea of getting back into flying with HBs F-14. A few months back, Enigma likened DCS to a digital museum, a place where history can be preserved and explored in a non-destructive manner. I don't disagree, but there's something more to it for a lot of folks: DCS can serve as a connection to memories in a way that a brick and mortar museum cannot. Dad passed away late last year(on Thanksgiving day of all days), and I still feel a small connection to him when I fly over the L.Y. Spear or Detroit. My point is that while your work is important to a lot of people because of the capability and class/type representation you bring to DCS, for others the assets you create serve as a connection to memories and relationships past. Thank you. -

It's not released yet. That's the Type 23 referenced earlier that had to be refactored. -
