  1. Spotting in DCS is horrible. Against humans, you both have similar problems, although there are massive differences with setups. Against AI, you really do have to use labels. Not being able to see enemy aircraft 500m away is insane, yet this frequently happens in DCS. Against AI, it is often a good idea to let them get on your tail so at least you have some idea where they are.
  2. Thanks, Pikey. I've got the MOOSE environment working now in Eclipse. It's handy having all the autocompletes. All I want to do is add a zone without having to define it in the ME. I want to add it entirely via LUA.
  3. I'm running into a lot of issues already. I think I'll have to follow the tutorial again from scratch. The MOOSE download directory structure didn't match the one given in the instructions. Eclipse is crashing when reading the MOOSE.lua file and DCS is reporting errors when using the script. I'm sure it's all my fault. To be honest, all I need is the ability to add zones via a script.
  4. Thank you, flight. I will have to look into these for creating a trigger zone equivilent. Right now I'm doing most of my testing through Witchcraft. I have a basic grasp of LUA and a good understanding of OOP, so perhaps MOOSE would be the best option. I will try and post a code example once it runs in case others find this thread.
  5. Hi my helpful fellow DCS trouble makers. Is it possible to dynamically add trigger zones via LUA? My intention is to load a LUA script on any existing mission so I can add 'modules' to missions without having to do it in the editor. Thank you for reading, Slazi(a)
  6. Mission design. You can control what appears on the map when you design the missions. Sent from my SC-04E using Tapatalk
  7. Don't compare FC3 modules to regular dcs modules. Compare it with the MiG-21, for example. Sent from my SC-04E using Tapatalk
  8. Surely, adding more long range SAM sites is the easiest way to balance the F-14.
  9. They are trying to save the planet by reducing gamers' power consumption. Sent from my SC-04E using Tapatalk
  10. I would imagine fuel costs are the least of your worries. Sent from my SC-04E using Tapatalk
  11. Great news. This is one of my biggest problems with DCS. People say its important for WWII, but I think it's even more important with Vietnam era jets due to the speed. Lose sight for a few seconds and you're miles apart.
  12. Use labels if you can. DCS has weird visibility. The other option is to wait for them to fix the visibility, but it may take a few years. Sent from my SC-04E using Tapatalk
  13. I'm definitely interested. Great OP. Sent from my SC-04E using Tapatalk

    "WATERWORLD".

Water takes more processing power. That would be my guess. Sent from my SC-04E using Tapatalk
  15. Why not train in the A-10? Using a trainer first might end up complicating things. Sent from my SC-04E using Tapatalk
  16. If he finds the P-51 hard to fly, keep away from the German planes. The L-39 flies really nicely. It's not good for any serious combat, but it's great for recon, navigation, and general flight fun. Sent from my SC-04E using Tapatalk
  17. Hey, buddy. Hope the gfx card works out for you. It should be very fast. RAM is easy. Either you use it or you don't. I can still run most stuff quite happily on 8gb. Take a look at benchmarks for estimated cpu performance. To be honest, it all depends what you are using it for. For DCS and quite a lot of games, GPUs are the bottleneck.
  18. How old are we talking? I'm 38 and I much prefer Steam. All of my games are on Steam. They all get updated automatically at speeds that max out my 100Mbps connection. I think standalone is more viable for people who only play DCS or play it all the time. Recently, I tend to play once or twice every few months. I don't want to have to manually update my software when I feel like playing. I also quite like the Steam overlay and friends list, but the main reason is Steam's automatic updates and speed. Saying that Steam users are impressed by shiny things really does nothing to help the situation. Some people prefer Steam. Their reasons aren't even important. Let's not alienate them.
  19. Releases are often six months to a year behind standalone.
  20. I much prefer Steam for my games, but DCS's modules are very far behind. Still, I only run the Steam version.
  21. You can also check your input device on a second screen by diaplaying game controller input.
  22. I'm no expert, but if it's for use in DCS you should be okay.
  23. Can we get a forum mod to change Flag's account name? [emoji1] Hope the Discord proves popular. I'm not particularly active with that type of thing, but I'm sure it will be appreciated if it works well.
  24. This is the same for most DCS aircraft right now. It only affects AI. Everyone wants this improved.
