G'day, The greatest BVR advantage is to get your missile in the air before the bandit launches their missile at you. So, some prior knowledge of the bandit's missile capability is very helpful. If they have a longer range missile than you, but it is only semi-active guidance ( like the Sparrow), getting them on the defensive is enough to trash their missile as they have to break their lock and guidance to defend against your shot. When you launch your missile, perform a "crank" manoeuvre. Turn your aircraft left or right of the reciprocal to keep the bandit locked at the edge of your radar gimbals. This effectively reduces that closure speed, as you are now diverging, but you are still supporting your missile. When there is a massive change in closure speed, that indicates the bandit is defending and will probably turn cold and dive. You can now turn back into them and try to keep your radar lock and be ready to launch another missile when they start to turn hot. Look up bvr tutorials on YT, especially the F-pole manoeuvre. Hope that helps a little. Cheers! [emoji1634] Sent from my SM-G998B using Tapatalk

Air Boss comms - how enable?
Scotch75 replied to Ranger1882's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Hi, Airboss is a MOOSE script that needs to be injected into the mission. It operates independently from the DCS arrival comms via scripting. Cheers! [emoji1634] Sent from my SM-G998B using Tapatalk -
In the STPT page (ICP 4), you can set a desired time over target (DTOT) to the time you want for the particular steerpoint (if your steerpoint is your target). Cheers! Sent from my SM-G998B using Tapatalk

And make sure EPLRS is selected for the AEWACS and the Player's aircraft. Sent from my SM-G998B using Tapatalk

That, indeed Sir, has solved the problem. All is working as it should. Many thanks. Sent from my SM-G998B using Tapatalk

Hi Miguel, Unfortunately the new file did not fix the problem. The problem is, with the data link on the F-16, flight members (defined in the group in mission editor) should appear blue with extra functionality on the situational display. However, the flight members that are created via the scripts are green just like any other friendly, even though they are shown in their own group with the player in the mission editor (ongoing miz). I have attached a simple .miz with a 2-ship of F-16s and AEWACS. This did function correctly for me. Many thanks. DL Test.miz

Ok, thanks for the replies and for taking a look. I have linked this thread to the DCE thread for the Devs to have a look at. Cheers! Sent from my SM-G998B using Tapatalk

G'day Devs, Here is a thread I started about the Data Link members not being the correct blue colour and functionality on the HSD. It looks like scripting (in general, not just yours) may be assigning IDs with a value too high for the F-16 DED to use. I posted a track of the ongoing miz for F-16 over Persian Gulf campaign in the thread. https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink/topic?url=/topic/314546-data-link-colours/&share_tid=314546&share_fid=74365&share_type=t&link_source=app Many thanks, [emoji1634] Sent from my SM-G998B using Tapatalk

Ok, this could be something to do with missions that are made by scripts. I made a simple 2-ship flight, and the DL display on the HSD worked as normal. I then loaded the Dynamic Campaign Engine derived mission, and the DL display on the HSD was not correct as described in my original post. I checked to ensure the flight was its own group in the mission editor, it seemed to be ok. I have attached the ongoing DCE mission track. Many thanks! DL_Test_DCE_1.trk

Thanks 9L. I'll investigate with a different mission to see if it is a DCE generated problem and get a track in a couple of hours. Cheers! Sent from my SM-G998B using Tapatalk

Hi BN, Those green symbols behind my aircraft symbol are my flight members forming up. I checked in the pre-flight Editor that I was 1 of 4 and had our own group name. So I'm not sure why they are not blue. Cheers! Sent from my SM-G998B using Tapatalk

Hi Folks, With the F-16 DL setup on the HSD, I thought own group members should be blue, and all other friendlies should be green. Below is a screenshot of a DCE campaign mission (single player offline), where I am the leader of a four ship (AI). As per the tutorials, I have not touched the DL settings on the DED pages, yet my flight (I have checked that this four-ship is a separate group) is green. Am I missing something? Many thanks,

In addition, in real world there would be "secondary targets" planned for in case of the primary targets being weathered-in. Cheers! [emoji1634] Sent from my SM-G998B using Tapatalk

Yes, hopefully all of the above will get fixed, along with the lack of AI damage. I unload a full clip of .303 and 20mm on a bf-109, and it still flies like it just came out of the factory. Frustrating [emoji37], I feel your pain. Cheers! [emoji1634] Sent from my SM-G998B using Tapatalk

I'll actually have to use drop tanks now on the P-51D for the new map. Looking forward to it for $15.70 AUD. Cheers! [emoji1634] Sent from my SM-G998B using Tapatalk

I believe fuel flow will not be the same for every landing as it will be directly proportional to your landing weight. You set your AoA as a constant with a 3° glideslope (your velocity vector will be on the 3° mark and on the threshold you are landing at). Your landing weight will determine how much throttle (and therefore fuel flow) you need to hold the above two parameters constant. If you find you are ballooning a bit, rather than changing your throttle, you can momentarily extend the speedbreaks, then release, and they will go back to to the landing set. Cheers! No, there is no indicator. I have often been caught flying with the speedbreak out [emoji37]. You just have to make sure you cycle the speedbreak prior to taxi as part of your pre-taxi checks. Cheers! [emoji1634] Sent from my SM-G998B using Tapatalk

@[MVP] Mugga, this project is brilliant mate. How do you find all of these components? Museums?? [emoji1787]. Great to see, well done. Cheers! [emoji1634] Sent from my SM-G998B using Tapatalk

Operation Scarlet Dawn - Syria PvE Persistent Campaign
Scotch75 replied to Surrexen's topic in User Created Missions General
Hey @Surrexen, you mentioned new persistency, is that due to the problem with statics mentioned earlier? Do you know if ED fixed this? Cheers! [emoji1634] Sent from my SM-G998B using Tapatalk -
I'm thinking the discrepency is because the radar projects out as a cone (3D) from the aircraft, but the image is "unwrapped" onto a 2D square. A bit like the map projections of the globe (Mercator etc). However, I'm sure there are some experts in this field that will have a more accurate and technical explanation. Cheers! And check in Mission Editor each ship unit has "Late Activation" un-ticked for the mission. Cheers! Sent from my SM-G998B using Tapatalk -

Hey guys, I installed the "Falcon over PG" campaign then made sure Scripts MOD NG was updated to the latest release (20.60.232) through DCE manager. The following errors show during creation of the first mission. So, should I re-install the Campaign with "Overwrite the NG folder (if present)" checked? To me that sounds like it will copy the old NG files back in rather than use the latest release. Many thanks. Scotch null

Yes, I experienced this today also on SP in a BVR mission with an AWACS. This unfortunately resulted in me eating SD-10s that were launched well before I could lock a target (JF-17) and launch to get them on the defensive. No BVR for the F-16 unfortunately. Cheers!
