  1. Does anyone know if this is still being worked on/updated or do the devs consider it a completed mod? Either way, absolutely love it. Towards the end of my Vietnam video below, I was flying support while my buddy was down low in the Cayuse popping smoke on targets in the jungle for me. Had a blast.
  2. I'm sorry, did I accidentally post this video here in attempt to illicit a premature release of the Cobra by Violentnomad. I would hate to see that happen in 2 weeks or before Christmas.
  3. ViolentNomad, Huge ask here I know, but last we heard, a lot of coding going on and not much to show. Do you think you will have the old girl wrapped up or in a release state this year? Also, any new stuff to show? This will be one of my primary Helos I will be flying with the guys. Looking forward to this one as much as a paid module.
  4. I have flown since the latest update with no issues. I am running comms through SRS though, not directly through DCS. Also, you need to ensure both radios are turned on and the colume is turned up for both.
  5. Beyond me how this gorgeous woman is not talked about more in DCS. Older video below from the start of 2024 taking Flying Iron Simulations P-38 up. I need to reshoot these in 4K when MSFS 2024 comes out. But a good example of what we are missing in DCS Pacific. This is beyond and exhilarating flight in VR. This and the Corsair are musts for the Pacific.
  6. Can wait to get after this one again when the Crystal arrives this weekend!
  7. I would like to throw my 2 cents in as well. This is a major player in our Vietnam scenario when we are doing combined attacks with the OH-6 and Bronco. It would be sad to see it disappear. It is not on the radar for any 3rd party dev in the foreseeable future so I hope it can be recovered. Check out the below video. You guys are in the prime to keep the Bronco alive. So much being released for Vietnam.
  8. Oh <profanity> yeah! Well played sir! Looking forward to seeing this in game. Especially with the new HMD on the way.
  9. I wish I could help on the development of the AI Skyraider but I am afraid that is above my pay grade. My contribution to the campaign(s) we make, and the Vietnam mission revolves around storyline for accuracy on our coop campaign(s) and historical accuracy on unit types and missions we put together on the Marianas (Vietnam) mission. Our IT/ME mission maker is the real wizard and brains behind the scripting and actual design of the mission. Sad to say, my PIMAX died over the weekend (first gen from the kick starter days) and now I am awaiting a new Crystal Light. Grounded until then. We will try to incorporate your Skyraider for sure. Real work has had me out on travel, so I only got back this weekend. There is a lot of talent on these forums so I am hoping someone can reach out and assist you. Looking forward to finding a way to script attacks with the Sandy. Great story about the Phantoms and Vipers. I too have been lucking enough to grow up around the majority of the US inventory. When the Phantoms left, we still had Tomcats lingering around but they too were eventually replaced by the Hornets on base. Our base used to be a Naval Reserve base, but now it is Joint Naval reserve to include Navy, Marine, and USAF. Pretty cool because now it's a gang bang of all military aircraft. On any given day we F-35's, F-16's, F-18's, C-130's, T-38's and the occasional B-52 coming and going. Every once in great while we are graced with the odd F-15 or F-22. As far as your final question, I would honestly say not to invest time into SFM models unless its a massive burning passion of yours. The Skyraider is already in developments along with the F-8 Crusader. The guys making the A-1 are actually using a real one locally where I live to create theirs. Then we already have a Mig-21 in game. I am sure the community would never complain about a free SFM mod but to be honest, the bar for free mods is being set pretty high these days. I would say for us, we only fly the Cayuse, A-4, and Bronco with the occasional C-130. Unless your plan was to match or come close to this fidelity, I would say AI is the best way to go. We need more ground units for that period to go after in the jungle to. There is some pretty cool AI tech (website) out there now where it will create the 3D assets for you and then you incorporate the model it makes into 3D3Max or whatever software you use to create mods. You can use a single image or multiple to have it create the object. It requires a monthly fee but there has been some neat stuff made. If I was savy enough, I would be tempted to start making Vietnamese ground assets utilizing that website to create the foundation of the 3D object and then sculpt it from there. Wish you the best of luck and look forward with what you decide to keep bringing to the table. We need more Vietnam era assets. I appreciate all the hard work you and your team do for the community. Links below to the cool AI site for creating 3D models. Might assist in the mod community. There are more out there and growing. 10. I bet those maneuvers got the balls tingling a little when you nosed over. I can't wait to demonstrate my poor attempt at this over Anderson AFB when I get my new VR headset in. The old Pimax I was using finally gave me her final salute over the weekend. Now awaiting the new Crystal Light. Appreciate the video. Great stuff.
  11. To be honest, I might have forgot to mention I am flying in VR and it is not working in VR. With some of the bugs I have seen lately, I am going out on a limb and saying it is something ED needs to correct. A lot of us are having the same issue with the mouse cursor in the Air Boss station on the carrier. It works for everyone in flat screen mode, but VR users are not able to click on anything with the mouse.
  12. Thought I would introduce myself to the team on this thread. Two buddies and I fly every Thursday and usually early AM on the weekends. We have been continuously updating our Dynamic Marianas mission to simulate a Vietnam experience in DCS using all the Vietnam mods out there that are good to go. Eightball and Tobi really upped their game with the Cayuse which has been one of my primary birds I have been flying since it came out. Absolutely cannot wait for Violent Nomads G model Cobra and now I see the Sandy above. below is a list of mods and official aircraft we have on our private server right now. The team would love to get our hands on your Sandy and test it out. The Bronco that was released is awesome, I just wish the team who created had some more time to work on it. It is a ways out if they ever get back to it. I included a video below of us flying on the server. Hunter Killer Missions are what we enjoy the most right now typically with an A-4 or F-4 overhead. I am 43 and grew up around the F-4 and F-14 down the road at our Naval Airstation. Very fond memories of the Phantom. On our server, I am hoping we can incorporate CSAR missions when we get shot down. We have done it before on a pretense server where when we go down, if we eject and the pilot lands, it automatically spawns a pilot in the location where we touch down and creates a rescue mission. I hope we can take it further and start spawning wrecked aircraft, like the cargo variant of the Cayuse, so we can recover downed helos with the Chinook. I have already tested picking up the Cayuse with the Chinook and it works just fine. Our mission editor Guru, Mistermann will be jumping in on this convo no doubt. The man is a wizard with the DCS ME. We owe all the hard work in the mission to him. Really look forward to contributing to this forum and bringing more ideas to the DCS Vietnam scene. I have tons of literature and photo books on just about everything Vietnam Aviation and special forces oriented if you need reference material. Also a lot of museums around where I live that I can probably get photos of some real stuff. Hope you enjoy the video and thank you all for the hard work you are putting into the mods for DCS Vietnam. We will be adding your ships to the map as well. I am embarrassed to say they are not on there yet. List of aircraft and mods below in game. If I leave any out, Mistermann will correct me, Mods: Bronco, A-4, Cayuse, AI Seaking mod for Navy, UH-1 attachment mods, Cayuse Mod pack Official: F-5, F-4, CH-47, UH-1, OH-58 stripped down to the Vietnam style scout, AI B-52, just added the Mig-15 and Mig-21 in case we fly opposing sides
  13. I fully support this idea! The Cayuse mod already has a downed Cayuse you can pick up as Cargo. It would be nice to see crash site/aircraft wreckage we could pick up similar to the cargo or the Cayuse mod. When the boys and I were flying pretense server, there was a script where if you got shot down and ejected, it spawned a pilot on the ground where your pilot landed after you ejected. It then auto generated a CSAR mission to recover the pilot. I would love to see this officially implemented into DCS only take it a step further. Depending on the parameters, say keep it to helos, if you crash, not only does it spawn the pilot if he makes it, but also generates the static cargo wreckage of the aircraft. Then we can auto script a recovery mission with the Chinook. Crazy thing is you can already do this with the pilot in DCS currently. All we need is cargo wreckage models of helos. Maybe different variations of wreckage as well to carry. This would be a blast for those of us who fly coop with friends every week.
  14. Now that you say that, I stand corrected. I will just reduce myself to a beggar now.
  15. Much appreciated! I will suggest it in the forum for the Chinook since they are looking for new cargo options. Keep up all the great work with the Cayuse. One other thing, you mentioned starting another project after completing the Cayuse. Have you decided what that is going to be and if so, any easter eggs coming down the road?
  16. Or we will have you Knighted
  17. If that is really you Hawkeye80, don't tease me. Been looking at your photos for a while. I would encourage you to remain chilly.
  18. Tobi/8Ball, Any chance you gents can take the Huey model in DCS currently and make a static cargo variant out of it similar to the way you did with the Cayuse? The guys and I are working to trigger your static cargo cayuse every time we get shot down along with the pilot to create a SAR/aircraft recovery operation. It would be cool if we had the same functionality with a cargo downed version of the Huey. Just curious if that was something you might be able to do.
  19. ViolentNomad, May be a little too early to ask this question, but could you possibly add a static downed version of the cobra to your mod at some point? Similar to what 8ball and Tobi did with the Cayuse. With the release of the Chinook, the boys and I are making a trigger that when every time we get shot down in a Cayuse, the static cargo version will spawn at our crash site. This now gives us a reason to clear the area and go in with the CH-47 to recover the wreckage and pilot. We can also have a pilot spawn to combine the two operations. I would like to see a static cargo model of your Cobra sometime after release so we can spawn it in as well with 2 downed pilots. Just a thought to bring more options to DCS. Its a blast in coop. We were doing this a while back on the Syria map for SAR operations picking up our pilots when we got shot down.
  20. M05 was a blast. Single ship with my copilot. Good time! I tried not to put to many/if any spoilers in the video. If you have not already flown it, you may want to fly before watching. Times stamps included.
  21. We really need the 40 Mike Mike added if possible. We even have the switch for it in game right now.
