  1. Man I am sorry. That is unfortunate.
  2. Right on, I think this serves as a great opportunity to relearn basic scanning techniques. I'm going to try it the old school way and just turn the HUD off from the beginning. It's definitely a challenge. The only adantage I will miss just a little is the E bracket, which I guess real life pilots didn't need in the groove as they could feel exactly what the jet was doing.
  3. No you don‘t. There is a command line for the DCS updater. Look here: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=114030
  4. Have you opened the game in the last 24 hours? DCS updater only checks once a day I think. Alternatively, start the dcs updater from the DCS folder in your windows tab.
  5. Of course I am not at home until Friday. Enjoy, everyone!
  6. I don‘t like the F-14 cockpit per se, although I must say the jet itself looks absolutely gorgeous, one of my all time favorites. I bought it purely for the flight model. (The LANTIRN is a nice bonus too!)
  7. Normally they release the open beta updates at around 14:00 - 16:00 CEST and after the changelog has been posted. No liability assumed though.
  8. I think it takes around 4 GB on your hard drive, so you should be good.
  9. That's because in the sim you don't have to do the OBC like the real RIOs had to :D
  10. Sounds very reasonable, given the Su-27 RCS. Thanks for testing it out.
  11. I know, right? It just looks so ridiculous, frankly speaking, but it worked.
  12. There it is! Very pleased with the feature list, now I can preorder in peace :)
  13. So, how does it work then?
  14. Unfortunately, I don‘t think ED listens to the expert opinion of real world pilots apart from their own SMEs.
  15. Take it with a pinch of salt, as I don't have any info on this other than what has been communicated by ED so far but I am quite certain that the A/G radar will probably be one of the last items that is going to be added to the Hornet before it reaches v1.0 at the end of the early access period. The original coder of the A/G radar left the company some time ago, apparently.
  16. I think none. It was a multicrew session. Edit: Just to clarify, none in the sense of no in-game chatter from Jester in the trailer. Admittedly, I could have worded this better.
  17. Someone posted a picture a short while ago where a cleared ADV was present on the left DDI and the black line didn't mask the rest of the screen. Unfortunately, I can't find it right now, must be in one of the threads here that have been posted since the latest open beta patch. Also, you can find an interview on Youtube with a pilot who states that they had the radar on the right DDI and the SA page on the left one most of the time. Now, there could be two reasons for this: 1. Maybe the pilots didn't care about the obscuring black lines or had no messages anyway which would lead to display symbology masking, whereas we do have messages/advisories all the time because a lot of systems aren't implemented yet. 2. Maybe it's due to different software versions, although I somehow doubt it. ED has their SMEs though, so what do I know.
  18. @Bkthunder that’s because there is still so much stuff missing like backspace said. Once everything is done, it’s going to make much more sense :) The HAFU symbology on the radar will make a huge difference.
  19. Thank you Emmy.
  20. Thank you for the hint, tees. I did turn IFF on during startup, it was a simple cold start mission I made from scratch to test the new features.
  21. I'll be damned. It's literally less than two weeks™ away. Thanks for bringing us this product, Heatblur. A few years ago I wouldn't have dreamed for someone to make a product about the F-14 with so much passion for detail. Hope the release will go smoothly for you guys.
  22. Until it's fixed, an interim workaround would be to turn off all external lights with the switch on the throttle.
  23. It is still very far from completion. When I lock up a friendly F/A-18, I get a diamond instead of a box with FRIEND written on the HUD, even though he showed up as a friendly on the SA page before.
  24. So, in real life, each JDAM is simply programmed to specific coordinates without the use of markpoints? How do you transfer a markpoint to a waypoint? Is there a manual section for it? If yes I'll gladly search for it.
