Well the SSD is fine - I’ve bought a SATA to USB cable and plugged it in to the laptop… its just totally invisible to the bios / mb in my desktop
-
Indeed. Must be a pretty strong claim that these were the first Ravens

I know this is the Pacific sub-forum, but I’ve always thought of the B-17 as an ETO aircraft… … in that context, was the modified Fortress III the most effective variant produced…?! Reduced 0.5”s and no bomb load…

Can’t see the point of CBRN in DCS… …there’s no denying that our collective sim interest is in a macabre, utterly grim area of RL - but adding a CBRN element oversteps the mark for acceptability / non-acceptability. Use of these weapons is unacceptable - no debate. Therefore I don’t see any place in DCS

Err, nope… but a quick play in the bios shows that CSM is enabled

Is my gaming PC borked?? ”may” correspond with a bios update or may be a dead SSD Anyway - Win OS is on a Crucial SSD. BIOS was often a bit temperamental in choosing the correct boot drive, but easily fixed using the manual selection in setup. Now the crucial drive isn’t even recognised. I used to have a back door bootable drive in the form of an old spinny disc, but that is also playing up. Any advice on how to asses / fix? first thought was to buy a SATA to USB adapter and plug the drive into a spare computer to see if I can retrieve any files / look at boot files (it’s many generation of Windows since I looked at boot files - was it config.sys and boot.ini??)

Afghanistan - would be a really interesting map… but my concern would be that both “recent” conflicts were strictly asymmetric A2G scenarios in terms of air campaigns (if you ignore a few tussles with PAF) Marianas - beautiful scenery, but totally unconvinced on how it would work for WW2 setting…. To make any sense, the islands would need to be Japanese held with US forces being carrier based. Anything post-Turkey Shoot would be pretty pointless, but the current maps have the post liberation late war bomber strips South Atlantic - has the potential to be up there with Syria. Stunning landscapes and a real contender for Cold War stand offs Guadalcanal / Solomons - makes the most sense as a WW2 PTO map Land, sea and an ongoing, bitterly fought contest. Timeline options for both sides to be carrier or land based. Interesting naval ops Norwegian Coast - Give us Murmansk to Trondheim… huge potential for any era from 1940 to the near future

M3 had some models shown on here

Nice images on ED Facebook page today

I’d be keen to see an AM39 on the F1… AFAIK, the French Mirages could carry the Exocet - we do ourselves a disservice where we insist on realism to a level where stuff doesn’t get done. DCS is full of examples where the map / era / plane set don’t tally The way I see it, we’ll all soon be able to tear down San Carlos Water at mast top height. There’s no SuE in DCS, so if we get to use the F1 as a Dagger stand in or as an Exocet strike platform, then I can’t wait We have the excellent A-4 mod, the F1 in Argentine colours should get a lot of flight hours in the S Atlantic map OK, it’s not the right Mirage, but it’s a pretty good stand in And as for stand ins, we’re going to have to fly AV-8Bs with 9Ms if we want any Harrier CAP action, as Raz have stated that the FRS1 with its radar and 9Ls won’t be along any time soon

Yes, but…. Real sounds or not - the vid above is a good example of why there have been some questions about DCS piston engine start up sounds - the coughs, splutters, misfires, catching on a couple of cylinders and then warming up and getting in to rhythm
-
That glow effect is really impressive

Ahh, but the question wasn’t about what M3 / Leatherneck were planning - I probably clipped the quote a little tight… the post was about what support ED were providing to develop the PTO and whether ED would bring out a Zero…
-
Sadly, that effort seems to have been limited to painting the Anton white or green

Is the T-45 a standard mod install…? ie copy folders to the game save file?
-
Best place to start is to tone down the AA accuracy All flak behaves as if it has radar guidance, computer aided gunlaying / prediction and stabilised gun platforms They didn’t

Just get on with the F-4J and be done with it…

Test I want to try is: - Max fuel and ammo load for Mossie take off from Fox Bay

Also means it was ready for the tests

OK, so quite a specific wish item Placing some Naval assets to play with the new Leander class frigate mods, I noticed that the far, far NW corner of the Normandy map appeared to show Plymouth Sound - so dropped a Leander and HMS Hermes and had a fly around Now, Plymouth might seem a way out on the edge of this map… … but it would be more appropriate to detail Plymouth and Devonport than to add Paris and London A large proportion of the US D-Day troops sailed from Plymouth, and it has been a home for the RN for centuries. In respect of DCS, Plymouth and the dockyard were heavily bombed by the Luftwaffe and the Channel was a major area of Ops for RAF Coastal Command as well as RN coastal forces and destroyer / cruiser sweeps Also as very good home for the current and forthcoming Cold War naval assets…! ETA - Oh, and HMS Plymouth would also be very fitting if Razbam decide to finish their Rothesay class model

Is the Hunter still inbound…??? Any news or info relating to DCS would be much appreciated - not much content here re FOSD??? Beautiful looking and sounding plane, would be a great addition to DCS not sure if this link works, but the vid seems to be in DCS (?) and also captures the distinctive “blue note” Hunter howl https://fb.watch/ajTG9pdHFv/ https://fb.watch/ajTG9pdHFv/

Agree with all of the above… The Norden sight has achieved a reputation and status that perhaps reflects the hype rather than the reality. The RAF and Luftwaffe both developed copies / similar technology, with 617 Squadron achieving famous successes with the SABS / Tallboy combo From what I’ve read over the years, the USAAF daylight campaign propagated the appearance of precision bombing, but in many ways reverted to daylight area bombing. At the other extreme, the RAF night bombing campaign progressed from “success = the right city” to much more closely targeted, radio technology guided / PFF marked bombing At the end of the day all WW2 level bombing used similar tech with similar results… the exceptions were the selected specialist / special duties heavy bomber squadrons, and the very high risk dive / low level / torpedo attack units FWIW the exploits of 617 after the dams raids are worth a read, for anyone not familiar. Some of the targets are on the Channel map as well ETA - have always liked the Mitchell, but as per some of my previous posts on this thread and others… there are a number of other twins that are also worthy of consideration Bf-110, Ju-88 and a few others Beaufighter Betty
