  1. I believe it involves driving strange looking cars around a closed lap of tarmac road, for a somewhat tedious amount of time… YMMV, but I suspect rallycross or WRC may prove far more entertaining for four wheel aficionados… For the real deal google Isle of Man TT
  2. People want a MORE challenging air defence environment
  3. Childhood and teenage memories of looking down on Jags tearing down Welsh valleys, pulling up, then rolling inverted over the next ridge line… (Not my images…) Also used to see (and hear) the occasional low-level strike exercise against the nearby navy base.. thing of the past these days
  4. @danielzambaux - good starting post… and at 11 pages in, how about… what sort of stuff interests your team members??? You’ve got to pick something that fits your own interests, as well as being commercially tempting Modern NATO / Opfor? - Baltic, S China Sea, err… Ukraine (also good for WW2 & CW) Early or late Cold War? Too many to choose - Korea, SE Asia, Scandinavia, Central Europe Specific geographies? Aleutians and Kamchatka would be a good alternative choice… WW2…? I cannot see ED’s logic with Marianas… Solomons offers far more. , For Europe, the South of Italy, Malta and N Africa would be amazing. Likewise Norfolk - Ruhr - N German plain - Jutland. Good for WW2 Bomber Ops, tactical air support and Cold War stand off
  5. I think it’s the “legs” that show a resemblance with the Mirage F1

    F6F Hellcat

Very curious as to how a FF Zero will perform in DCS… … I suspect much better than many might expect. The key US multipliers of numbers, tactics, training can’t be easily replicated here. A disciplined pilot, flying to the Zero’s strengths may do well. I was always surprised to read accounts of Zero vs Spit Vb engagements - the Spitfires held little advantage in terms of turn, dive or climb (IIRC…)
  7. S Class destroyers Warspite Belfast ETA - and give them the AI logic to shell any targets in range, which are in line of sight of allied units (ie assume a forward liaison officer can call in gunnery shoots on enemy positions) would liven up the atmosphere of “stuff happening”
  8. Extend to Norfolk
  9. I thought some Drem lights or similar had been added to the Mods???
  10. Sorry for numpty Q - but what is the appropriate video embed scripts for this forum??
  11. What are the views on maintaining two full copies…?! I had been running OB on one drive and Stable on another, but between the two (and another sim) I’m pushing the limits on both drives. I’d already dropped the planesets on both to try and rationalise I’m starting to think that I don’t really need Stable at all…? Thoughts…?
  12. That pre-Christmas vid set the expectation levels alight Some more snippets of news or some more video footage would help with the gloomy days of winter
  13. Now, suggest a WW2 “heavy” and we’re talking… Four engined tail dragger, 5-6 tons of bombs (or 10 tons even), not sure if she’ll climb away from the strip We’d need some “big bomb” damage modelling, but hey, that works for me
  14. interesting… would like a flyable Fortress, but more than enough room for an RAF “heavy” An extended family member was RAF Bomber Command aircrew, a large part of the inspiration for my life long aviation interest and subject for a lot of my recent reading / research. In trying to find out more about his squadrons and operations (the family seemed to know nothing ), I have recently read Murray Peden’s excellent “A Thousand Shall Fall”. Peden flew in the same squadron, at the same time and on many of the same Ops. One of the really interesting insights is that the 214 Sqn crews were some of the very few that were able to make valid comparisons between the RAF heavies and the B-17… they seemed to regard the Fortress as a much lighter aircraft, with four far less powerful engines and much lower take off weight / payload But, on the plus side, the much higher ceiling allowed the Fortress to fly above the main bomber stream, depending on operational requirements, and the 0.5” 50 cals were much more effective than the normal RAF .303s
  15. Looking forward to the Lancaster… I read with interest that each crew station is being looked at and modelled - but that begs the question of whether it can be flown in single player with AI crew to “fight” the aircraft…??
  16. Agreed - still think a Mach Loop map would be a blast… especially if RAF Valley was included
  17. I’d buy a Tornado or Jaguar in a heartbeat Used to frequently see Jags tearing down our river estuary on naval strike training, and also in the mid 90s working near Coltishall Would be great to get some of the 3rd party devs looking at European aircraft
  18. Yep, and from what I’ve seen that sea looks like the first one in DCS where you wouldn’t want to go for a dip
  19. Hopefully we will get a Round Table LSL from Raz at some point
  20. Kharg would be good for Raz’s South Atlantic map she was a sister ship of the RFA “Ol” class
  21. I don’t share the pessimism being voiced ^^ The Mosquito has been a game changer - whether you’re bothered about that aircraft or not… flying a twin has brought a new dimension to DCS WW2. Hopefully opens the door to a P-38, Bf-110, Ju-88, Beaufighter, B-25 etc The Corsair / Zero / Hellcat will bring another dimension with carrier Ops. It doesn’t matter which theatre, it’s the infrastructure that changes the game - ie WW2 era non-cat carriers and tail hook equipped warbirds
  22. USN BB & DDs USN CVs IJN assets Axis assets incl IGN Japanese aircraft plenty there to keep Corsair pilots company
  23. AV-8B sure isn’t a Shar… … but it would still be a good aircraft to blat around in against A4s and Mirages! Anyone who thinks you need to be British, Argentinian or interested in the Falklands conflict to go for the South Atlantic map is seriously missing the point. SA is a great opportunity to switch out to hardline Coldwar scenarios against MiGs, Sukhois and the full arsenal of Soviet air defences
  24. There are some gorgeous looking ships in the Mods section: (look for @Hawkeye60 mods) Fletcher class DDs Iowa Hornet IJN - Yamato
