  1. Seems like there's some sort of delay after Petrovich reports setting MAGVAR before the gyros will sync.
  2. This is the moving target compensation?
  3. Looks like a demonstration of the KM-2 with the Greben in mode "MK." But the presenter doesn't show us the gyro mode. This is probably sufficient for the majority of users. What's interesting is that the translated documentation makes no mention of the gyros slewing during use of the TEST button on KM-2, but considering how the system works in MK, this would make sense. It wouldn't make sense in any other mode. It will be interesting to see if this is the limit of the simulation, or just scratching the surface.
  4. Project Tupolev? 3 modes The naming convention is the same as in the PT, but the functions are different. In the Mi-8/24, mode ГПК is "Slaved," MK is approximately "Raw" and 3K is "Free." I don't know which (PT/Belsimtek)is correct, of if they are both correct. My understanding is this will be the primary use of the system for users.
  5. ...Okay? Let me test those claims. I was sure they're correct. Which was exactly what I said here; So I loaded up my navigation test mission, and verified what was going on. It takes place on the Caucasus map, at the Krymsk airfield Runway 4. The magnetic variation is 7.1°E in my .miz (040°T, 033°M). This is actually correct, and I have been mistaken all the time I've owned this module. Using "Takeoff from Runway" option, the KM-8 is correctly functioning, and by default is set correctly for the Gyros to be aligned for True Heading, not Magnetic. Oops... This is also correct. Placing a hot KA-50 also shows the HUD, Navigation instrument, and PVI-800 as all aligned to True North, not Magnetic. Interesting that I've never noticed it before. Shows how much I know. Also interesting, the ABRIS by default is set to TRUE, vs western aircraft which are default to MAGNETIC. Yes, in western aircraft a MagVar database is loaded to output magnetic directions in the system. It's not perfect, so sometimes the GPS/INS track will vary from publications by a few degrees. Agreed. There are compromises with either standard. Well, considering I already have a minimum of 2 modules which already orient via True North, that disproves me "everything except FC3" statement. And clearly I already manage just fine with the difference between modules, so I think my feature request is now an irrelevant solution to an already managed problem. I embrace my True oriented Hind. I guess the devs can someday add a Petrovich option if they want, but I'm satisfied with the current plan. Thanks for motivating me to dig deeper on this.
  6. Caucasus. Yeah it will apply to all headings since it's a rotation of the entire compass rose.
  7. In the latest newsletter, This is going to be a significant departure from other ASM modules in DCS: World. Currently, only the FC3 modules navigate in reference to (DCS Flat Earth) True North. Every other module I own navigates in reference to Magnetic North. This will cause minor problems when coordinating with other aircraft, necessitating they either choose True north options (if they have them) or one of us has to do some basic math. Likewise, aviation as a system operates referencing Magnetic North (unless somebody has evidence otherwise for Russian Helicopters... but my Kamov and Hip are Magnetic oriented). I want to simultaneously have a discussion on the decision for Petrovich to align KM-2 to True North, and to request the ability to command Magnetic North from Petrovich via some means. I've just realized the map display is currently oriented to True North. Thanks,
  8. So per the latest newsletter, This made me question the significance of True Headings for the Greben. I had noticed in testing that the map display had a drift of 7° Left when flying True North on my test mission. I decided to test if there would be any drift flying Gyro North (currently can only be set to Magnetic North in mode MK). My test was successful, so the map display appears to referencing the Gyro for direction information. If you fly an indicated heading of 000°, the crosshair moves directly up on the map display (currently oriented to True North)! So that part is correctly modeled!
  9. In the scenario you posted, it reads as though the observer sight is outside acceptable launch limits. You need to command Petrovich as Pilot to execute the attack, where he will place your sight crosshair within launch limits (on the ASP sight) giving you launch approved light and tone.
  10. Is there even a VLE? My opinion is if it's got a VLO 160 KmIAS then that's what it's got, and that's what I'd like to have...
  11. I didn't know there was a gear speed until this post. Thanks!
  12. That's probably something unique to your setup. Virpil recognizes the Warthog grip just fine, and it's CMS push, which the Cougar (as I understand) doesn't have. It sounds like it might be an issue with device ID's or the profile you're using.
  13. @GoodHope I swap grips multiple times for the same base, here are my thoughts: Per the VPC software manual, In my opinion, there is no need to restart your computer. As a joystick controller, windows supports "plug-and-play." But windows does not support multiple identities (grips) for the same device. You need VPC software for that. My suggestion is to never separate the grip from the base while it is connected to the PC. And I never plug in the base without a grip attached. Those might be precautions unique to myself, but it works. The important part is that you need VPC to load a profile into the base electronics to define the combination of grip+base. When you unplug the joystick, swap bases, and plug it back in, the base still thinks it has the old grip attached (previous profile). Use the VPC software to configure the new combination, it will save the profile to the base, then windows will properly recognize it. You can test this with VPC software as well. Since you're going to do this multiple times, there's really no need to repeat the profile creation process every time (including calibration). Another part of the manual which will be important for you. After importing your saved profile, just click "SAVE VPC DEVICE" and it should be properly configured. Hope that helps,
  14. The RL manual (that I can see) doesn't mention anything about "magnetic bearing." It only uses the term "ADF bearing," which I would traditionally assume is a relative bearing (as that's how civilian equipment works). But it's possible the system could be running some sort of conversion. If what we're seeing is a raw direction find of the signal, then the behavior in your track is correct.
  15. Many (most?) of the aircraft equipped with ARK/ADF will have a section in the tutorial or manual describing operation and use.
  16. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-directional_beacon y'all beat me to it.
  17. Yep. When I bought the Supercarrier, I got a copy of the Su-33. But I already have FC3 installed, so I just ignore it's prompt to install the Su-33 module. There are some neat menu themes which we don't get with FC3, but those are easy enough to get if you're motivated. My suggestion is to locate the actual module files <DCS root>/Mods/Aircraft/(F-15C Flaming Cliffs). Your missing missions might be there. MIGHT. Because they're user files you were the one that installed them, not Eagle Dynamics. So they can be wherever you happened to put them. Wherever that actually was. You may want to save your F-15C Control Profile (Save As), in case you have to effortlessly reload it to the FC3 version of the same aircraft (I have no idea if this step is even required). Once you're sure you don't need anything from your legacy F-15C module, my suggestion would be to uninstall it.. as it's now redundant. If you have any problems you can just reinstall it again, but I don't believe that will be necessary. But it still is an option for whatever reason.
  18. Why do we have to have this same thread every handful of months? That doesn't even look fast.
  19. Maybe just north of the Sea of Galilee?
  20. I think you guys are going in the right direction here, and I'd like to speculate a lot of us (at least myself) are looking forward to being able to swap seats in MP, and the importance of that for the Hip.
  21. If I interpret that correctly, at least now it's a possibility for the Mi-8MTV2 (and UH-1H)
  22. I had low expectations. Well... I thought I had low expectations. I was mostly interested in GMK improvements, but fully expected to not see those anytime soon... if ever.
  23. It has nothing to do with Target software. It's internal to the module.
  24. If you select the map (chart) layer of the map screen, you can zoom in and see the property lines for the weapon ranges, and markings for targets.
