Vr pilot body is a must have. Sitting in an empty pit is lame. Hope the new pilot bodies that Ed is doing will have articulating arms and body as we can move them out of way if need be…..thought I heard that somewhere…..

Yes but a simulator should simulate realities and not what if Franken loads. Atleast that’s the way it was with Blackshark and A10c before this became dcs world. I feel the PK online crowd is taking the Sim down the wrong path. Granted I will concede that at-least ED has given us control via the Editor to deny franken loads…

VR in helicopters compared to fast jets

Vr in helis is the best. Good benchmark mission I use is ka50 instant action attack insurgents in cauc, and free flight ka50 in Syria mission. What some folks do in heli is drop the draw distance down as your down low in a heli to recover some FPS. I honestly don’t have issues with my rifts and 1080ti and mostly high settings. Flying helis in dcs in vr is truly the best experience once you find your settings. -

It’s the new thermal engine in the teaser. Looks great and good progress in the right direction. Wip obviously, goes without saying you can see trees and sometimes perfect outlines and details in real world systems I used as a ground guy. Progress is on this and the weather system I imagine is linked as far as development goes. Exciting -
I have found that leap motions 4.1 software works better with individual finger tracking and can press about every button I can reach. Early days but it takes a light touch to manipulate the switches. Also agree the dcs hands are not properly lined up with actual hands and need to have a size adjustment other than the iPd or world scale setting in dcs. Having the size adjustment in its self I think will help. I have used the rift s controllers for all button switching and my methodology for manipulation of buttons I can’t reach would be to use the trigger and stick function on the controller that dcs has built in. Now if we had a similar function with leap for those pesky out of reach switches this would be great. I see the fist and thumb thing but honestly in its current form is way too inaccurate and unreliable. fun tech and look forward to further updates.

So initial thoughts, reminds of when vr first came to dcs rough around the edges but I expected this. I only spent about 40 minutes in dcs with leap motion so still figuring out the economy of motion with this. For example up and down switches is it a flip your finger up or down on the switch or is it a stab it with finger light the mfd or UFC’s. Going to nerd out on the tech and see what brings best hand tracking as I notice in the hind and f18 both when turning body left to flip some switches hand will disappear. This will be amazing once you guys get this all ironed out, oh and like others have said an option to disable Hotas input will be perfect. Another initial thought is need loud click noise for buttons and or switches as to help with the no physical feedback. My calibration was at 89 percent and certainly trying to figure that out the best as well. Exciting Hind have issue reaching the weapons panel in pilots pit before hands disappear.

Hey Auto hover working like a charm here. I disregarded what chucks manual said and had all auto pilot channels enabled. Pulled trimmer in hold get to a relative stable hover then released trimmer followed by turning on altimeter button and then hover button. As per screen shot can see all the green lights on. Hind hovered perfectly in a pretty good head wind aswell. Tested in cauc freeflight instant action mission

You have rudder trimmer option selected in the special options menu? Dumb question but maybe check it

Since you said can’t keep rudder trimmed it is said to not have yaw channel on for hover when doing hover mode. Can’t fly till tomorrow, I know route mode works haven’t tried hover though sorry.

On the instant action mission for Blackshark, Freeflight in syria i believe it was waypoint 5 to 6 you come across the dam and to the right is this bridge which its support structure is not reaching the ground. I had changed mission in editor over to a hind.

That is a good point, i was wondering why Petro was a wobbly goblin. Hope to see some improvements as the Ai system is genius otherwise and quite the experience in vr as a gunner.

Glad I still just run a rift s, set it and forget it. Love the Vr experience with it. I’ll go test wmr with a odyssey + and can’t run half the settings I can on a rift s. Everyone went out and bought a G2 for dcs, well not a good move despite what people say about how amazing the clarity is. The performance isn’t here yet for those high res and high settings in dcs. So I’ll stay here happy with my Rift s until hardware and software leap frogs. folks need to be realistic with expectations. -
Same problems here, ships will pop out of nowhere, definitely a lod issue
