DCSFlightpanels (DCSFP) thread. Saitek Pro Flight Panels & DCS
BlacleyCole replied to a topic in DCS Modding
Thanks bad I’m use to two one for comm one for nav. I’m using you video as a motivational tool for my vrpit using switches during startup and as needed in the hood my Speedmaster flightseat has a shelf off each hip I’m going to put the saitek pals on the right as the left has my collective, warthog throttle and cougar throttle on it. -
Are you a airhead or squid? You like hard decks or carrier landings.

Redkite : F-16C Viper Tutorial Series
BlacleyCole replied to RedKite's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper Tutorials
I’ll have to check these out, I wish he’d do a series on the c101 if it’s that concise and on point the other guys irritate me when they go off on tangents. Also when the fail to follow the -10 checklists. And my third peeve is failure to follow communication procedures with ground. Most military airfields require notification and permissions prior to starting engines and taxiing plus other ground events. -
What’s the best tutorial on the mission editor
BlacleyCole replied to BlacleyCole's topic in Mission Editor Tutorials
I have and can do most of the me defaultor nonscript items but it’s the scripted items that I need help with. -
SkateZilla I have a couple of requests for future updates if you don’t mind. 1) list the mods from ovgme that show up in dcs’ s installed module so you can select or configure them as active or inactive just like the other modules. 2). Ways to setup all the 3rd party apps like VoiceAttack, tacview, srs, Gametrix seat cushion, etc
-
I'm reinstating my computers software including DCS. I’m wanting to know the best or most used ways of setting up several of the 3rd party software in this case VoiceAttack. I’m wondering which way is the best way to use VoiceAttack. If Viacom isn’t needed then I’ll go that route. If not no biggie I own both already from my first time around. I had trouble with the intial installation and it hardly worked. I’ll make my own commands as for some items I would need to do that anyway.

Looking for HOTAS equip recommendations
BlacleyCole replied to Redgum's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I have the twcs and gladiator I’ve not done the upgrade so you can change grips. The twcs is a throttle with a slap switch that can operate as the rudder if you get the stick that they sell with the twcs I think you might like it better but it doesn’t have the quality of the warthog also there’s the saitek x56 I have it also but hate it personally Ideally the hotas depends on what you want for it and how often you’ll be using it. First of all I haven’t tried the newer stuff from Logitech, I’ve had various thrustmaster pieces from the 90s f-4 stick and r-16 tqs throttle. To the gear in my current inventory the twcs throttle which I’ll pair up with the vkb gladiator and vkb pedals for my travel kit in my Motorhome. I have the cougar hotas as well as the warthog hotas both I’ll use on my pit. The cougar fot the viper the cougar throttle for other single engine air planes. The warthog hotas for dual engine aircraft and center stick ones the cougar stick for side stick aircraft like the viper and airbus planes. Everything uses a Thrustmaster trp pedals. For rotary wings I have a Maxflight collective for the pit and for travel a pft puma. I was when able trying to fly a hour a day at the minimum but I took Ill but I’m trying to rebuild my pit the way I want it but I’m inching my way closer to the completion. Some is on the pit some of it is upgrading the controls like the cougar hotas is getting new sensors for the axises and the throttle is getting a usb pcb I planted so I can connect it directly to the pc without the stick as the default setup did. On the wh throttle I swapped out the slew control for a better setup. The trp pedals are getting a dampner setup. The rift s got the point ctrl system. I added a Wacom tablet for a vrk’ s virtual kneeboard. Just finished upgrading the storage drives in the lapto to a 2tb gumdrive and a 4tb ssd sata drive. And reinstalling the software. One by one getting it to work as I go. So as you see you can put as much time and money into this hobby as you want or can afford. The best stick is a force feedback with a f-18 grip. Down from that you have several quality sticks without fob. These include the virpril and vkb lines among others. Below that I put the thrustmaster Warthog hotas and cougar which was its forerunner. Below that are the more economical thrustmaster hotas and individual items. Below that I would put ch gear.at the next lower level I would put saitek which Logitech took over and below that are the cheap stuff like Microsoft. This is a hobby and like most become addictive and you’ll put as much money in it as you can/like.so you need to decide how much you wish to invest in it. Both time and money as I said above. For me I’ve been at most levels of this hobby going back to the original flight simulator fro. Sub logic on the Commodore 64 in the 80s the atp from sub logic in the 90s and also mfs. Then in the 2000’s I got out of it for a while while I concentrated on other things then my health started failing and my activity level was reduced so I went back to simming. So it about all I got left so I’m trying to set it up as I want with the pluses I think will work for me. If you would like to see what I have and why check out my blog I post something every week. So far I’ve listed what I have at the time, new items will be added as I add the then soMe weeks I describe an item or piece of software. It covers my two favorite sims to date dcs and xp11. But dcs has been my main object so far with just a couple of familiarization articles on xp11. -
DCSFlightpanels (DCSFP) thread. Saitek Pro Flight Panels & DCS
BlacleyCole replied to a topic in DCS Modding
Are you able to use multiple radio panels or did I read the statement that your limited to a single radio panel because it is configured by dcsfp? -
If I’m understanding correctly the stor hdg is for situations where you prep the plane for a rapid takeoff like an alert bird you go out daily do your preflight inspections align the ins then save it and shut down the jet that way when you get the go signal you jump in double check everything and startup most things are prepped and ready you should be able to launch within a couple of minutes not a half hour like a routine flight

We’re you Thor kid who snuck down on Christmas Eve to open your presents or did you wait until after breakfast on Christmas Day?
-
Do you prefer an Air Force or navy bird also the f14 is a dual seater so you may want to find a rio to learn with you and help with the workload or we’re you going to rely on jester. And being more primitive may mean you are doing more. I would read the manual for each and go From there

Will anyone be producing a collective for the oh-58?

Any New F-16 Throttle being made anywhere?
BlacleyCole replied to Davee's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I replaced the pcb with a usb model and swapped out the axis potentiometer with a magnetic sensor but nothing for the other controls -
Or take that photo into photoshop or gimp straighten the image, crop it save as png then place in the vipers kneeboard
-
Much like the jester ai for the f-14?

How about reducing the rt one iirc using dcs axis tune so they are very similar throughout the range from cut off to an

Helicopter Collective and Cyclic
BlacleyCole replied to RePhil's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I think I ment to say I have the pro flight trainer puma and it works a little rigid imo the cyclic uses a b4 grip, the collective has a simple head with two buttons and two three way toggles one acts as a mode switch for all buttons on the grip and collective, the pedals are a round slick tube, which gave me problems since I suffer from neuropathy in my lower extremities. Also everything is mounted to the same basic frame another disadvantage as I see it I would prefer a modular setup -
Thrustmaster MFD specific LCD Monitor

After rereading you post I might go the matrox to go the takes one hdmi output to three hdmi ports for displays it strings them as one long display -
I would think pharsing should be available using the lua out application and then taking the data you want and write it to a string of data to be imported in to your database. I done similar thangs years ago when working for the usaf in the wing scheduling office and needed to take data from several sources import it in the database and the manipulate it to fit our daily flying schedule that we sent to various government offices that had to do with flying in the area.

It seams that the fixed wing duel position aircraft have the ability to have a multiplayer crew but the rotary wing aircraft no not have anything but promises
