VR in helicopters compared to fast jets
Ala12Rv-Tundra replied to GunSlingerAUS's topic in Virtual Reality
I changed my shadows settings for Marianas, putting them to flat. But again, I´m flying mostly singleplayer or simple multiplayer missions. With the graphic profiles switching is a matter of seconds. I will also recheck the display resolution, I thought it was no factor for VR. Thank you! -
VR in helicopters compared to fast jets
Ala12Rv-Tundra replied to GunSlingerAUS's topic in Virtual Reality
yeah the i5 8400 it´s more than 3 year old, it was an average CPU then so it shows its age more than high-end items. But ey I ran DCS VR with that an a 1060 3Gb so, it´s good fun with my current rig I have to turn things down right? lol oh I remember why I use ASW on. With ASW off, whenever I move my head, the image "doubles", making scanning the instruments very very tiresome for my eyes. -

VR in helicopters compared to fast jets
Ala12Rv-Tundra replied to GunSlingerAUS's topic in Virtual Reality
When I dogfight in jets, with Oculus ASW on, the other aircraft is ghosting. I use Oculus Tray tool. I thought of assigning the shortcut to turn ASW on and off to a button of my HOTAS, so all the fligth time ASW is on BUT the dogfight phase. Any experiences? -

Please don´t take this wrong, but do you have a timeline in mind for this? Q1 2022? Should I start saving a euro per day??? -
If you are running into issues, I would recommend focus on a single airframe, tune the controls to your liking, make sure DCS double binding is not acting up, and once you are happy, move along. Use the controls overlay to check how your inputs translate into dcs 3d world. I think it´s RCTRL + Enter.

Check "PointCTRL Discord - Information - Currently shipping orders" so they update the number they are sending out. However I think they are still processing orders from Sept-Oct 2020. Last update from August 15th, unit #530

VR setup - My best advice to you and........ I guarantee it.

saving it for later, thanks -
On the contrary, you would develop muscle memory really fast, the very same you operate diferent switches, hats and so from your HOTAS.
-
that´s smart, however I never took the time to develop muscle memory for asigning left-right click to the HOTAS or the touch controllers to operate; I still use a trackball by my right thigh. PointCTRL is on its way too.

[Official] SimShaker for Aviators
Ala12Rv-Tundra replied to f4l0's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Following, because it´s ofe of the modules where the creators worked very close with SSA author. I have never tried then landing gear effect while in f2 view to check the timing. Is that single player or MP? I can confirm wing movement works on my side. -

I think for most Oculus users, the biggest bridge to cross is the software after all nightmares we read about SteamVR and WMR -
Piece of art, good luck with the selling.

VKB T-Rudder Pedals - Review

I´m a rare case, I don´t fly warbirds. I have a TM Warthog throttle slider for brakes. For airframes with differential brakes like C-101, it´s not an issue either. From my experience, again. I didn´t even bother with trying the virtual brakes trick. For warbirds I have read both sides of the fence, doable and enjoyable, and painful and moving into other options, mostly MFG Crosswinds. -
You definitely would need a China hat in the throttle. And the thing to choose MFDs for SOI when doing long press, don´t remember the exact name. I wouldn´t bother with Boat switch.

I built at work 2 L-shape aluminium brackets, so the small side attach to the vertical side of the mount, and the other side is 140x140mm to attach the MFDs to it. Using two of the predrilled holes of the vertical side of the desk mount. For the third MFD, I made and angled piece so the MFD rests right after the two bolts which attach the desk mount to my Virpil base, and the upper part meets the vertical desk mount beams. The two upper MFDs aren´t rock solid at all, they move backwards when I press buttons. The aluminium sheet is very thin and there is a lot of "arm" when you press the buttons farther from the center. For me it´s not an issue at all, some sqn mates however, found this terribly annoying. Most of them bought Monstertech alike rotable attachments, they are a nice piece of engineering.
