Making the HUD SOI
Ala12Rv-Tundra replied to derbarbarian's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I think it's long press, not a short one but I may be wrong, busy with other airframes -
What I would try is this. Save your current graphic options profile for jets and SP. Create from scratch a new profile with most options turned down a bit(or lot) for helis, heavy maps (syria, marianas) and MP with heavy servers(players, objects, scripts...) I know creating a profile from zero is a hard task, but doing the opposite means you are no longer enjoying DCS. Think if you tune both settings, choosing one or another is a mere click away.

I asked the very same question a few days ago on FB and that´s the answer, to prevent overheating of the electronic stuff which creates the laser -

Just focus on the indexer light and ipress the trim hat that iluminates, that's is, if the upper part of the index is lit, press trim upper hat(trim down). Hornet has auto trimming. With wheels up, it forces 1g. With wheels and flaps down, trim maintains aoa angle. That's why using the stick for ascending or descending messes the whole thing. And anticipate the exponential lack of lift when velocity is decreasing by increasing thrust Let me wait till I get home, but there is a wonderful video about flying the hornet on speed on YouTube

Warthog user and FA 18 F16 stick or Purchase the F/A-18 Stick
Ala12Rv-Tundra replied to kmaultsby's topic in Thrustmaster
I own both. Bear in mind the hornet stick is also replica for Harrier, f15 and future f15e. Also very convenient for tomcat with the thumb axis for DLC. Both sticks feel different, the hornet needs your wrist to be placed closer to the upper part, making the pinky switch more difficult to operate. -
pretty decent work!!
-
I don´t think the side stick is more ergonomic unless you have a 30º reclined backrest and armrest like the actual Viper cockpit and a sensor force base which leads to minimum stick displacement. Or a 3d printed, RS part to tilt forward the stick. If the stick is flat parallel to the floor, pulling up puts a lot of strain in your wrist.

just pointing the OP 980ti could be equal to that 1060 I used performance-wise. But DCS is more taxiing now than then.
-
Back in the day (2018) I played DCS VR with rift CV1 and GTX 1060 3 Gb. It was doable but not enjoyable. DCS Graphic load has increased a lot these years, so I recommend saving more money and let the current GPUs drop a little more.
-
Naming that option wasn´t ED brightest idea because leads to confusion. It´s more like a world scale factor.
-
yes sir. I find values 45-60 fit most modules
-
I suppose you already tried changing the IPD world scale DCS setting. Apparently it´s module dependant.
-
if you are feeling uneasy at flying DCS. Try very short flights, such as 5-10 mins. Set a mission, with hot aircraft. Jump in, taxi to runway. Take off, fly heading runway heading for AGES. Just climb.Once at cruise altitude over the cloud deck, turn and roll. Important, move your actual body, drop your shoulders accordingly for turns, tilt your head. Those small gestures help fooling your inner ear. Fly a long shallow direct approach to runway. Forget about CASE patterns or agressive fighter overhead patterns. Also, are you using glasses? The constant lack of focus may accelerate the nausea.

So this app can run paralell to our normal SSA setup? -
You have been using TrackIR for decades, don´t expect becoming a VR cockpit interaction master within the first 20 minutes However, you will develop muscle memory, even to press keyboard combos such as RCtrl + Pause for fps which I use all the time while flying. Or counting the F keys to reach F10 map. F1, 2, 3 for views, ESC... all of them will be second nature to you soon. What´s more, using free software like VoiceAttack, you can press a hotas button and speak out loud "Map", and a F10 keystroke will be activate.
