Cheap DIY MFD Cougars for VR without Displays?
Ala12Rv-Tundra replied to Nalfeyn's topic in Home Cockpits
prices are insane these days but I pretty much recommend them though. They are well built, match the real counterpart, plug and play and offer 56 pushbuttons for 100€. However, if you are really into DIY, check those "USB arcade boards" which are also plug and play, very cheap ($5-10) on eBay, and some of the most common pushbuttons are compatible with their faston connectors so no need for soldering at all. I think most of them offer up to 20 push buttons With those, a couple of electrical black plastic boxes, and the buttons, you can kind of replicate MFD Cougars. -
I built a full F-18 cockpit, build thread inside!

Love this one: Nicely done, even more after your wife also contributed to the cause. Have you considered upgrading to WinWing, at least for the throttle? -
TM Cougar & CH magnetoresistive/ hall sensor kits

Any estimate on Force sensing mod pricetag, sir? -
A GTX1060 would be on the tight side for VR. That headset pricetag is about $1000, is that right? For me it would make much more sense, buying a $300-600 headset and getting a new GPU from that range too.

As far as I know it´s a one-guy business so xmas time might be a busy one, even more this crazy year.

TM Cougar & CH magnetoresistive/ hall sensor kits
Ala12Rv-Tundra replied to rel4y's topic in Thrustmaster
Today I finished installation and calibration and the mods work great. I guess first time Im doing in 2021 is swapping sticks and get back to some F-16 flight time. Thank you @rel4y -
You could also try adding a 1-2mm width washer to the turning knob that tightend the rubber pad.

All the best to you and your family too, sir!

The throttle works great for modern jets. The stick is average but if it fits your budget, go ahead. I understand it has Hall sensors for both stick and throttle, better than pots. Regarding the pricetag, no idea sir. -
Ryzen 5 5600x for DCS VR?
Ala12Rv-Tundra replied to HoneyBadger's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
5600 is the way to go, that´s why they vanished from shelves. -
After reading last night struggles of a squadronmate setting up his G2 for first time, I won´t ever again badmouth Oculus software. Also, I start Oculus Home. Then Steam, click on DCS, and choosing Oculus VR mode. Done. Yeah definitely ED standalone could improve

Maybe a second hand GTX 1080 could help you. No idea about your current CPU horsepower. Also check second hand for Rift S, Odyssey +... I wouldn´t go lower than that. Trust me, a couple of years ago I was flying Rift CV1 with a GTX 1060 3Gb, and felt stunning despite everything else!

Yeah leaning and dropping your shoulder is a neat trick!

Same than motion sickness, people react differently to VR fps numbers.

There is no way looking at a Youtube video could provide the effect than when donning a VR headset.

No speakers but yes you plug your headset to the front connectors. Notice into your screenshot how the rear outputs are greyed out. unlike front ones. If you are using SSA software, you are into USB telemetry mode, so your BK vibrates depending on the readout of the sim, no sounds. Open your Realtek software to check what output is selected, maybe default is stereo. So I would play safe and go with green.

You need that combo + RShift, which is missing in that first message.
