  1. I would love to see that re-done with just new values for F/A-18 and F-16
  2. The -229 powered F-15E is as fast/faster than the -220 powered C with the same load, yes, but it will never turn and burn like the C. A 10% increase in weight for the same plane results in 21% more drag for the same G at the same speed and a 10% reduction in G available aerodynamically.
  3. Well done. In the F-16 against Ace AI MiG-29 I tend to run him out of fuel before I can get the shot. I have not figured out the F-16 yet in this sim.
  4. What is your speed at the END of the pull up? At sea level 200KTAS is still ~1100lb of drag, 250KTAS is ~1700 and 300KTAS is ~2500 (assuming 0.02 Cdo, ballpark for standard config fighters)
  5. you also gain massive directional stability improvements at high AoA.
  6. Because rockets are not jet engines.
  7. That sounds file becomes a Lovecraftian nightmare for me. It drives the sanity from my soul. Lol.
  8. Don't confuse turn with nose position. Take 20-30 degrees off the nose position when the vapes are heavy to get an idea of the turn. Turn rate is about the flight path vector not the nose position with adds AoA. Just like the F-35 demo pulling the nose 135deg in as little as 3 sec. 50deg of that is AoA.
  9. An SA-10 is no match for a VIFF. https://youtu.be/CLqXEw2sKj4
  10. You might want to re-read those charts. a 400fps Ps at 1.2M says otherwise. 800KCAS was a placard limit and a design point, not a thrust-drag limit.
  11. The big one for me was setting my old Cougar Throttle as the Nozzle Angle and a scroll wheel as thrust. I set the curve so that if I hold back against the first push through detent I am at 20 deg (IIRC) which is enough to activate the puff-port control for low/no speed control and still allows me to fire the cannon. For thrust I just set it to max continuous 102% at 0 degrees and forget it.
  12. There is so much more the the Vipers rate fight than the STR line. How does it accelerate under the STR line? How does it decelerate above the STR line? Both of these issues were far more broken than they are now. If you think a rate fight is sitting at best STR and hoping for the best you are very mistaken.
  13. what beautiful Tomcat Love!
  14. And yet my first time successfully DEADing an SA-10 site was in an F-14B. NOE ingress, Zuni to the Radars, Mk-84 to the Launchers. Meanwhile, my buddy in the Hornet is still trying to figure out how to get his HARMs in without them getting shot down.
  15. I opened a thread about that in the Wishlist and the Devs never said anything. I'm sure the PP O2 mask is not unique to the Viper, but the reclined seat is and it SHOULD be modeled. The F-16 was the first plane designed from the outset to FIGHT at 9G, not just be capable of it.
  16. Went back and tested again. When I look down I see CLOSE, AUTOMATIC, OPEN with the switch in the middle. I thought that was the position for AUTOMATIC, and I was wrong. UP is the position for AUTO. Just did a max RPM max MP take-off and 150mph indicated climb to 25,000ft in Automatic (up) and while temps were spiked at redline or higher for the whole climb the engine never waivered. Did the same thing in Open and had the same result. Thanks for the pushback everyone, I got to learn something today!
  17. I put them to closed once instead of open and the engine effectively seized on takeoff.
  18. That's just it, if I am manual open I can fly at speeds/temps/power settings that will cook the Merlin less than 60s on auto. This isn't a radiator cooling ability issue, this is a scheduling issue.
  19. @Rainmakersimilar to how in other full fidelity modules if the throttle is pulled to idle it will stay in Mil until subsonic?
  20. Why do the Oil/Radiator switches even have an AUTO setting if they won't open to cool the engine? I find that I can manually open them and fly however I want without overheating but when they are in AUTO I am constantly pulling power while also trying to increase speed. If open will keep the engine cool, why doesn't AUTO open them?
  21. I use the side mirrors to check my wings, I use the top mirror to make sure I still look as cool as I feel. Joking aside, I agree that the mirror is less useful than it could be at this point.
  22. The Oriskany and early Midway are giving me anxiety with that landing area.
  23. Oh man, same! And how to do high and low reversals from there too!
