2021 (and earlier) DCS Newsletter Discussion Thread
ngreenaway replied to NineLine's topic in DCS 2.9
Yes, that region is perhaps the most varied of all the maps we have -
i dont know, it really raises more questions than it answers. it would be nice to get more mileage out of the ns430, and i think more people would buy into it if it were useful on more aircraft

2021 (and earlier) DCS Newsletter Discussion Thread
ngreenaway replied to NineLine's topic in DCS 2.9
same here, but where is the newsletter this week? -
It seems unlikely, but i suppose its certainly possible. I think a case can be made for the yak52 and civilian variant of the uh1, &theres a photo somewhere of one mounted in a mig21 IRL, I just cant see one developer implementing another devs module in yet some other devs plane...who knows tho. It would make the ns430 a more useful module
-
I went from an original vive to a reverb and suddenly DCS was a new experience for me. Some modules that were previously unusable (dependence on hud and mfds) suddenly became understandable and enjoyable to fly. Scenery looked so much better. This was the same time stable went to 256 and the shark and warthog got new pits The upgrade was very much worth it. I imagine it will be the same from rift, although i stopped considering rift once they got bought by Facebook, so i cant say for certain wHt your improvement will be What i caution people about the g2 is that the g1 had a lot of teething troubles at the beginning, and i would assume the g2 will as well. The reverb g1.2 may be a safer purchase for the time being, especially with no major "wow" factor between current reverb and the published specs of the g2

What will the scope of their work be moving forward, if they were formed to implement the ns430 in the c101, &now that that has been done? Will it just be minor troubleshooting, or will they be looking to put the ns430 in other modules? Im confused why this is a separate developer if its task appears to be complete
-
Is the ns430 a 3-d asset in vr or just a 2-d popup? It wasnt clear in the notes and would be nice to have it useful in more than just l39 and mi8
-
I dont want a pop up in vr, i want the 3d version more widely implemented in vr. Theres a few airframes that could conceivably be equipped with it
-
perhaps in the current beta, but it would be inaccurate to say "since 2.5.6", I just fired up a night mission in the mi8 in 256 stable, and the lighting worked fine, legibly (thru my reverb) and according to the colors labelled on the switches
-
Give it time , they come several times a year, so it wont be all that long till the next one hits
-
Check ur controls. pilot and copilot have red&white dome lights. All 3 crew members have brightness knobs for switches and instruments, and doppler system has its own light switches
-
Or why a us-based 3rd party doesn't develop based on mute in private ownership. The documentation is out there, and there's a demonstrated demand
-
Can I get an amen, brotha?!
-
That's all stable ever is, a previous OB build , with the most egregious of bugs taken care of
-
I certainly hope it was unintentional, but this comes across as rather smug, and a condescending swipe at those who may disagree with you (those who don't share your vision are implied to be incapable of critical thinking). It's one thing discuss the various pros&cons to airframes. Alongside speculating on the next mod or complaining about bugs & progress of developing new features, debating aircraft favorite pastime for people to do here. We all prefer different aspects of flying however, so it's uncalled for to make inferences or qualitative statements of the preferences of your fellow pilots.

Yawn. Pretty plane, but like a lot.of other strategic aircraft , not really a compelling plane to fly in dcs...much like any strategic aircraft , be it a c-5, a b-52, or a u-2. It would be wonderful to look at but as exciting overall as "watching paint dry simulator" Its not that idont lke the u-2, its a beautiful aircraft in a way that very few aircraft are. Nor is it that i want to lob spaamrams- i have yet to bother with any BVR engagements . I do think non-combat aircraft have a place in dcs but honestly , the missions done in strategic aircraft are more appropriate for xplane than it is for dcs Not all aircraft make compelling sim experiences , no matter how enthusiastic we are about the real thing.

I love it, it's too true If he wasn't so combative at times, I'd say he has the qualities of a true skeptic

this would be funny if it werent so true! and things are even less civil over on hoggit

More realistic Tor SAM missile selfdestruct-logic
ngreenaway replied to D4n's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Do you have a citation for that? I'm not trying to refute your statements so much as I try to keep abreast of air defense systems as well as I can -
I just wanna fly the libyan "frankenmig"
-
I think, iirc, its under options.for the uh1 As for the lifebar, i go to the dcsworld folder where it lives& rename it
-
No, dcs is fine without gore
-
I hope the m4 is just "window dressing" I don't see a way or reason to make the thing useful
