  1. Same as the catapult needs a different steam pressure to launch the aircraft based on the aircraft's weight and flying speed.
  2. Yes there was a blackout in Europe during the war, certainly there was in Belgium, my father in law who was a teenager during the war confirmed it.
  3. I've stopped using my Cougar and am now using a T16000M, the flying is a lot smoother with it than the Cougar which is showing it's age, normally I would have assigned a rotary to the pitch and trim but I don't have that luxury now.

  5. I was thinking the same thing last night too. That's the other thing, the steps on the rpm setting are quite large as well, thank goodness this is not a multi engine aircraft or you would never get the engines in sync ;)

  9. Used to fly in these to go to work, man they are noisy and they rattle like they are falling apart, I cursed the day they swapped the Bandeirante for the skyvan on the route I used.

  14. Birch and Bramson's Flight Briefing for Pilots were the text books we used when I was learning to fly with the Highland Aero Club. ISBN 13: 9780582988149 for volume 1, and it came in 4 volumes but not all were needed for a PPL. Vol 1 and 4 were the two that I started with.

  16. Yeah, we remember, and it still leaves a bit of a bad taste. Well good luck to both teams, my grandson is looking forward to the Corsair (Skipper) and I'm looking forward to the F14. Now we need a statement from Cobra about how he is moving forward with his part of the company.

  18. 12g in a centrifuge, it was not on top that the guy blacks out but on the way back down from his 3rd run up to 12.2g This one shows the difference between straining and not straining to counter act the g force, also you can see the graph of the how the g force is applied to the subject.
  19. Yeah would love to see that too, it's where my father was stationed during WW2. Now it has a very nice little museum, but last time I visited it the runways etc. were all gone.

Wow, looking very good and it has the airfield where my dad spent his time during the war, Tangmere :) Glad to see the south coast of England being included in the map, even though at lower detail etc. it should bring a lot more options to game play. I've not even had a chance to fly the spitfire yet, hopefully life will get back to normal now.
  23. I made a mistake there, the SCR 522 is the 24V version of the radio, it should be the SCR 542 which is the 12V version of the radio

The Spitfire did use the SCR522, it was an American built TR1143 as part of the Lend Lease agreement between the UK and the USA, it was also fitted to a lot of other aircraft including American ones to keep a commonality between the different services ... Mainly so that the pilots could all sing from the same hymn sheet ;)
