  1. It was destined for me! My company shares came out of the closed period, then dropped 30% and my crypto got to the $2800 mark enough to but the new rig and they crashed to $200!! Hopefully when one or the other or both go up a bit this gap in GPU will be closed!
  2. Nah I don’t think Wags is a PC connoisseur, probably got a similar budget to many on here. I don’t think you will get a straight answer mate, the biggest consensus is a SSD is a must, >16gb ram. The next depends on your screen, I run a 2600k at 3.8mhz with an older GPU and because I play on a 28” 1920x1080 monitor it runs fine for me. Again it depends on your budget. Ps yes, very confusing! I was all set with my new rig on paper until they stopped making the 1080ti!
  3. Because there are so many choices, budgets, uses and opinions?
  4. One of the A-10 apps has a freeware version with fewer functions afaik on the iPhone App Store.
  5. I think its aluminium extrusion T channel or something. Cant find anywhere local in aus either, just wholesalers.
  6. Nice addition to the sim world! Looks well made and infinitely useful for all summers!! Great work.
  7. I vote for this, a bit like autostart. I don’t mind the realism in combat but sometimes the transition time, start up and taxi and perhaps even Case 1 recovery as well as refuelling. It just an option, you can choose to use it or not, makes the sims more available IMO is a good thing.
  8. https://www.bbc.com/reel/video/p06tmhm7/the-surprising-benefit-of-flying-a-virtual-war-plane BBC Reel with a company using DCS to assist with combat stress! I play PC Games and Sims to de-stress so why not?!
  9. Agree with this, when I get mine working I used 4 screens to try and make it look different. Have the 2 top MFDs and 2 engine panels below them on 1 22 inch monitor and then on the top I have a box with a USB3 monitor for the Map MFD and a small one for the UFC. I liked the idea of having the UFC further out and I am hoping to make that map useful by increasing its size substantially.
  10. Has anyone got a drawing of a landing gear handle that I could covert to Sketchup? I want a handle that will light up/flash red and with a stalk that will fit over a standard toggle switch that I can use a grub screw. A guy at work has said he would print one for me and would probably design it too if I could give him an idea of the size of one. I know a few people have designed ones for a-10 and f/a-18 with the led holders in them, I could probably add the tube to fit over a toggle switch. Any assistance would be appreciated!
  11. Are you after making a sim pit? Simplest way is probably to get a 2nd monitor at 23" put one of CaptZeens Helios templates on it. If you are after exact measurements I think Deadman has an actual A-10 cockpit, search function may help but you will need to do lots of searching. There is a place called dogfightboss who sells plans and a corrugated plastic version. Hopefully someone will be along to help you!
  12. Is there not an "and" function in LUA? No idea btw.
  13. Awesome, compact and all in one place! Love it.
  14. On topic, is the parking break a printed cap on a standard switch or have you also engineered a pull twist switch for that too?
  15. Yes if I can get away from work, cant wait to see them flying around up here, I worked on the project in the UK whilst it was still a paper specification and cannot believe there are now so many flying. I dont have a good camera so photos will be of limited quality to what will be available on line after their arrival. Mining industry is really stepping up in the Hunter, I have applied for a job at one of the mines! Sorry off topic :-)
  16. Excuse my ignorance but the only use I have found for the bleed air knob is to rotate it 360. What other uses does it need after startup?
  17. Thats awesome, I saw ALDI had some 3D printers on sale for $300, not a good time right now for me to buy with a new house, redundancies at work and a UK holiday but looking at your work is really making me think of a printer purchase next! Also, it gets so hot over here with a hat for track IR and big headphones I was thinking of actually putting those air vents to proper use.
  18. You will need 3 VGA ports to run these, do you have them spare??
  19. That Jettison Button is awesome, nice design, I couldnt figure out how to make one and that is perfect! Nice one.
  20. Please can someone post the schematic for a Mega Nano RS485 connection, I have 3 nanos and want to get a master and RS485 to test out linking them. Is a Mega just a Mega or are there types of Mega? Sorry for thread hijack but the title is the title! NM found it: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3247704&postcount=171 Are 4 of these all that is needed to run 3 nanos from one Mega? https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Maxim-MAX487CPA-Line-Transceiver-RS-422-RS-485-5-V-8-Pin-PDIP/401626040868?hash=item5d82c70a24:g:7KEAAOSwaYVbNlOM:rk:26:pf:0
  21. Last decent sim was by Sonalysist Dangerous Waters, surely it’s about time we got a replacement!! I suppose it would probably be ineffective to build the P8 due to the amount of systems on board and it being quite a niche product but maybe a Sea Hawk could also be released as a Blackhawk and other versions whilst the base models pay for the development of an ASuW sensor development?
  22. If you look at what the Brits did with GR4 and what they are doing with Eurofighter, you might understand why it could be a BAE/MOD secret thing rather than Panavia. The partner nations invest in different things for their political aims, Germany doesnt really do expeditionary AG so didnt do GR4, their Eurofighter is way behind the UK in many capabilities. UK made the ADV of the Tornado as it wasnt contemplating dog fighting due to the distance over water, not sure what Germany did but ADV was only British AFAIK. Also zee Germans and Italians did an EW version of the Tornado. Paveway 4 and Brimstone with their targetting pods are all proven on the Tonka for the RAF which will/are making their way onto the Tiffy for the RAF. So those updated UK Tornado systems are still current as they fly on in 5th Generation, obviously the Tiffy systems will evolve and the GR4 ones will become obsolete. You could probably get a GR1 or 1st batch Tonka, IDS?? Not sure if GR1 is a UK designation and IDS was the common but I want GR4, I bought the FLiR Fairings for every one on behalf of the MOD and loved it setting off every car alarm on takeoff! Also, I worked at BAe and not sure how much info is needed to make a commercial simulator, at the end of the day they are a commercial business, everyone complains how expensive F-35 is, well guess what, industry doesnt have teams of engineers and commercial people with thorough knowledge of IP, commercial in confidence, ITAR and all the lovely things needed to help a 3rd party developer just sat around, they are pretty lean. Perhaps if the UK cut the Red Arrows they could employ a couple of people to help DCS and third parties to develop virtual platforms as advertising, but if there isnt at least a decent figure of Return on Investment, you would be hard to get someone! Of course, as the DCS platform grows, perhaps they will outsource some of that simulation to DCS as is their military side of the business, synthetic training is bloody big business, the more accurate you get it, the less time you need pilots using very expensive flying hours!
  23. I am all for ideas that enhance missions and mission builders tool sets. Dont know enough about VHF/UHF or whatever the thing that goes ping to tell you where an airfield is though, might be an issue. It could come into its own if a blank map could be created so mission builders can raise elevation, add towns and airports.
  24. Ah yes, I did see some at weekend! Thanks guys good discussion!
  25. What 3 screens though for under $1500 Aussie?
