  1. Not heard of and but Lynxdk sounds like your man, look him up.
  2. Not wishing to be a smart arse because simms mean so much to each builder. But with the A-10C replicating the CDU screen on the MFD and the pinky/modifiers able to replicate every key press from your keypad, why the buzz to n#make a CDU? Im not beind a smart arse, obviously every panel can be cheated, but why would the A10C put the CDI screen upfront if it didnt anticipate it to replace the CDU... Just a genuine thought.
  3. Its not for DCS obv! I have a maco on my logitech that when I press it in an FPS the handgun fires faster than an Uzi! Ive tried heaps of time to create 2 others, one that scrolls middle mouse up and the performs that rapid fire, the other is scroll down and fires repeatedly. But I follow the same rules for the one that fires current weapon like a machine gun on steroids which starts with either key press 2 or mouse up to pick the next weapon. Problem is, it just repeats the mouse middle button up and doesnt fire. Any ideas??
  4. Well for FA/18 Natops its 400% so you can centre screen on the panel you want, hit print, change size t0 400%, click more print options and check centre on view. With this you get pretty close prints. Then what I am doing is cropping the pdf for the instrument I want to copy and exporting it (seems to be better than saving the crop, Im not too clever with Adobe). I then open Coreldrawx8 and import the pdf as vectors (not text) and then you can measure the 400% pdf and pull the corner of the coreld drawer to match that size. Then, I change all the text and lines to white, 0.3mm and bring to the front then draw a rectangle, fill it with black, send it to the back and et voila - you have a panel. I then print these at work as their laser printers are better than my ink jet! You can then ungroup it all to remove the switch levers if you intent to put your own in. But I dont know if they are the same scale.
  5. I can give you some of the best cockpit photos I have come across but it's also a quiet forum with a passion for hornets. You need to join, it's free: http://hornetpits.org/index.php?topic=629.0
  6. Sorry I know there is a sales thread, stumbled across this on eBay, prices seem randomly high for some thing but might inspire someone? http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Jet-Art-Aviation-LTD/_i.html?rt=nc&_sc=1&_sid=282546881&_sop=2&_trksid=p4634.c0.m14.l1513&_pgn=7
  7. Try this: http://iiwiki.com/wiki/AV-8_Harrier#Avionics If it's true you could extrapolate from there? It is the 'E' version though, unsure if they upgraded the display sizes. On typhoon they upgraded the displays from Crt to LCD but kept the same dimension so they didn't have to modify the up front bulkhead.
  8. I was about to ask how did you go from a DIY design to an Obutto! Even though my DIY is average Mrs Burns wont let me invest in an Obutto even though I have probably spend 3 times as much on wood and screws for my various "pits". I like the arm for the keyboard, i think I will introduce something like that to my pit for my time on PUBC. Is it pretty sturdy to take the weight of your wrists if you are hammering WSAD? Might even do one on the other side for a steering wheel but it will look less like and F/A-18 and more like a disabled superhero suit.
  9. I use the GGG cards, upto dev3. Pity they dont do led.feedbacl but a real simple card for bginners and pros alike. Anyone reading, make sure you get the USB version, the do an analogue which has an ever reducing compatible mobo selection!
  10. Cant wait, its purchased but I dont want 1.5 or Nevada....... Plus I dont want to bomb 1940's famr houses. Whats the deal guys, any idea on the best options??? DCS - sort out the engine, Razbam did their bit.
  11. You think, I was going to price it up this weekend. Was thinking what we said about reflections, if there wasn't enough space between the 2 glass panels for the combiner, then the front glass couldn't be a filter?? Like to get to bottom of this!
  12. Be careful with ferric solutions, one of them is a serious water pollutant which I'd bad for Eco systems. Not sure which one but please dispose of properly!
  13. You know what needs to be done sir. Drop the mini from your title and build a pit, you have the parts!!
  14. Are you using the CNC to engrave the PCB? I really should try and sort mine out, I just have zero enthusiasm for anything lately.
  15. You can buy one here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/F-A-18E-Aircraft-HUD-COMBINER-Replica-for-GROUND-FLIGHT-SIMULATORS-/172867287340 Only things I can think of is some kind of filter for NVG use, a filter to prevent reflections? Also, when you eject in an F-16 the HUD becomes a wind break, 2 smaller pieces of glass flying at you at 400kph is bad. There is also advancement in HMD, I dont know if F/A-18 was designed with that in mind but perhaps it filters out the display when your HMD is working? Great question though :-)
  16. Alas the RAF scrapped theirs early donating parts to the USMC leaving us with two floating gin palaces. At least our WAH-64 could attack Libya from them but a Harrier would have saved the 18 hour round trip from RAF Marham our Tonkas had to endure.
  17. I worked on Radomes for Typhoon, if you dont know, its the pointy end of the aircraft and its made of a composite so the radar behind it can see through it. These things are sensitive, we had fitters filing them to make them fit and other things. When they are made, there is step in the manufacture where they are sat in a jig with an Antenna out front. It sends a signal through the radome where a robotic arm uses the signal to place "paint" on the inside to ensure that any slight manufacturing differences (air pockets, curing times) which may affect the unifromity of the travel of radar waves through the radome is corrected. Can you imagine that a Stealth Aircrafts entire design and skin is so precise that each aircraft has the same cross section the issues with fixing a bird strike would create? Its not like fixing a fiber glass caravan, the slightest variation changes the aircraft stealth profile, heck even an invisible angle may make a radar return that of a pigeon rather than a humming bird.
  18. Thats a great job mate! Sorry for hijack but for those who are not as talented as colyoap who would like a simple alternative: $10 off ebay Keys drawn on Powerpoint and glued to keys: Redundant keys removed: Black card to blank out the removed keys: I then mapped all the keys to the UFC in Settings using the Pinkie as a modifier so you can still use normal keyboard. If you are doing this, dont do it like I did, turn the keyboard upside down first, the micro USB that connects the keyboard is on the top of the keyboard and gets in the way of the screen. I double sided taped mine to the base on my monitor and it stuck for years.
  19. Just added my "panel" to the Warthog throttle to see how it looks. Note the screw position on the top left isnt aligned to the template.
  20. Could I ask a question about your displays, the IIC OLED things for your CSMP. Could you use them instead of say 9 x 16 segment displays? Im wanting to build a F/A-18C UFC like BBs but nowhere sells 16 segment displays in that size (the F/A-18 has 9 figures). I was thinking of alternatives and some of these Arduino displays look like they can do pixelated graphics even?
  21. So I have just been looking at Apps and apparently this: https://www.splashtop.com/wiredxdisplay Turns your Ipad and android devices as 2nd displays and I assume the touchscreen would work. I am going to download to my Ipad to see if I can use Helios on it.
  22. Hello, I was wondering if anyone could assist with some knowledge on touchscreens (small ones). I want to make the F/A-18C UFC: I also fly other aircraft so a touchscreen will allow me to use a Helios A-10C UFC and the AV8 and others... I have seen these "Raspberry Pi" screens: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/7-Inch-LCD-Touch-Screen-HDMI-Display-800-480-Raspberry-Pi-3-2-eParcel-Sydney-/152417203320?epid=886559743&hash=item237cc5f478:g:lRYAAOSw5cNYkBLH Can these be used as plug and play HDMI monitors which I could use Helios or similar or would I need a Pi and some software? I have also seen a lot of cheap kids androids: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/7-Android-4-4-Quad-Core-Kid-Tablet-PC-Dual-Camera-WiFi-Blue-Q88-Case-Red-U3-/263268327098?epid=2215877135&hash=item3d4c03deba:g:TvkAAOSwX~dWlyKn I think the plastic case would look great in my cockpit. What would I need to do to use the Android as an input device and receive the data from the sim for the displays? Any other ideas, I am trying not to spend AUD $300 on a MIMO.
  23. I've decided to hold off 8700K, I'm not really comfortable with what appears to be a fairly new chipset but the 1151(2) pin mobo seems a kind of rushed entry, almost like the manufacturers weren't totally ready for the 8 so pushed out some MOBO that perhaps they wouldn't have given another 6 months planning. I am not saying that is what happened, it just doesn't feel well organised of manufacturers all taking advantage of the new chip. I wonder if the GPU market was also planning a 1080ti replacement to line up with the new RAM, MOBO, PCIe 4, SATA 4, and 8 series.
  24. Is really nice, wish I could engrave! Hey, someone else may correct me but I also this the tab you have RT PLAN I think is actually FLT PLAN. The FL combined look like an R on certain resolutions.
  25. That panel is a work of art!
