High quality joystick with rudder axis?
Mr_Burns replied to CHSubZero's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I hear you, I really preferred my X52 twist, seemed to give me more control than my pedals, I assume its a time thing and when I get a proper setup rather than desk and put some time in with the pedals I will hopefully not want to go back. There must be a reason aircraft that are now fly by wire dont use twist grip sticks, its probably because you, like myself who never owned a set of pedals and never flown except for 2 glider lessons, find pedals feel odd? Perhaps its like learning a manual car after driving an auto? Like muscle/brain memory needs reprogramming? Just a though on the subject, have no answer to your question, sorry. -
DCS-BIOS: Sending a Keypad Matrix' Output via RS485
Mr_Burns replied to Tekkx's topic in Home Cockpits
Thanks Tekkx, I will stay away from etching for now. I dont think the pots will be an issue as you said there are 7 as standard which is all i need, i will draw up my idea for my UFC for Av8 and F-18 and post it for comments. Thanks again. Dave -

Sorry to bump, I want to make a matrix this weekend, Could you advise on any of these for ease of use/re-use etc, the press and peel seems easiest but not sure if there is an issue with an inkjet rather than a laser printer as it specifies: https://www.jaycar.com.au/press-n-peel-pcb-film/p/HG9980 https://www.jaycar.com.au/pcb-etching-kit/p/HG9990 -
Still have my original Lomac DVD, can believe where time goes. Good update, looking forward for the merge, feels really time wasting updating 1.5 and 2.2, understand why but as one version I am sure it will be much easier for ED. 27 years, pretty impressive ED to have a profitable and growing business in Flight Simulation for the public on PC for that long. I personally cannot wait for AV-8 and F/A-18.

Out of interest the link looks like a handkerchief, what is it, is that like a flexible top to a microswitch?
-
Are you ising the the thrustmaster MFD insides to make that?
-
Thanks Groove but unfortunately as a paid member of ED whom I assume get these for free, gonna have to say biased without a fair review.:music_whistling:

Contact Razbam through their forum, they seem very community focused, if they can share it, they probable will. Then share it here :-)

I'm playing that fine on my 2700k, never mind the rig though, it stresses my head!

DCS-BIOS: Sending a Keypad Matrix' Output via RS485

So if I went back to your other awesome tutorial which mentions A0-A5 can take Pots, on the matrix above changed 1,2,3 with A0-A5 on the nano I would have turned 5 inputs into 25? -
Why does the cougar have a friction setting if the original doesn't? Nice purchase btw, ive been asking RAAF to sell some parts for their C model -18 but to no avail...

Those look like nice big screens you are in the middle of, emersion will be awesome. Nice space to fill to as you want more and more gadgets!

Dont worry I was drunk as usual. Too much beer! Its a lovely CDU though,

Thrustmaster response about F-18 stick in development
Mr_Burns replied to Baz000's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Probably because there isnt a big enough market for one? -
Only downside to Alt F1 if you a throbber like me is I actually need to look at the speed breaks to see if i moved the button the right way or at what stage they are open to. ALT F1 makes all of the plane disappear except the hud.

Are they the two next to the AP and ON OFF buttons? I wondered what they were for couldnt find it NATOPS Wish ED would do a complete system rundown of what controls will be required, the start sequence will be good as was tutorial where WAGS went around the cockpit, but i am not making a replica so I dont want to havemade panels and bought switches that were needed in game, for example, im not going to build a comms panel becuase I only plan to the / menu to contact ATC etc. He mentions a few will be always in the manual selection, so if only have to use them very very rarely I probably not make that panel and use the mouse.

DCS-BIOS: Sending a Keypad Matrix' Output via RS485

Sorry mate, I am a complete Neanderthal to Arduino. I hope I havnt picked a complex project to start with, Im no good with capacitors and the use of them. Are there any diagrams of how I can make that matrix that turns approx 12 inputs into 60?? i get the basic idea, the software takes or sends into to DCS, some of the pins are digital others arent... and a pin A + B and ground make 3 inputs instead of 2, and A+B+C makes 7 inputs not 3.... I can also solder. and basically once i get the libraries loaded on the nano then I can get it to talk to DCS which shouldnt be too hard). I would just like to see a schematic and if you use capcitors why and what do they so? So I can learn what they do, i learn by knowing why not ust do this and do that..... Also, any links to great nano tutorials and hackerspace type projects will help, im a few months off the F/A-18 inspired pit. -
Cant give you rep, must have given it to you before! Wil take a good read and thanks for the link matel

Hi guys, sorry to ask a couple of questions i could search for am sure I will get straighter answers just asking: 1. Does this run on a nano 2. I have a hud, it needs 7 pots for dim/volume, has 3 on-off-on, 3 on-off and 26 push buttons. Can this be done with one Nano (although I have 3 if reuired. Thanks
-
which is the best one an why? Livesence or turbojet. Im getting one for Christmas, flights sims, fps and racing sims in future.
-
With that HUD unit having 7 potentiometers, what is the best control board for all those inputs, pretty sure my GGG only has 2 pots connections.
-
Not heard of and but Lynxdk sounds like your man, look him up.
-
Not wishing to be a smart arse because simms mean so much to each builder. But with the A-10C replicating the CDU screen on the MFD and the pinky/modifiers able to replicate every key press from your keypad, why the buzz to n#make a CDU? Im not beind a smart arse, obviously every panel can be cheated, but why would the A10C put the CDI screen upfront if it didnt anticipate it to replace the CDU... Just a genuine thought.

Its not for DCS obv! I have a maco on my logitech that when I press it in an FPS the handgun fires faster than an Uzi! Ive tried heaps of time to create 2 others, one that scrolls middle mouse up and the performs that rapid fire, the other is scroll down and fires repeatedly. But I follow the same rules for the one that fires current weapon like a machine gun on steroids which starts with either key press 2 or mouse up to pick the next weapon. Problem is, it just repeats the mouse middle button up and doesnt fire. Any ideas??

Well for FA/18 Natops its 400% so you can centre screen on the panel you want, hit print, change size t0 400%, click more print options and check centre on view. With this you get pretty close prints. Then what I am doing is cropping the pdf for the instrument I want to copy and exporting it (seems to be better than saving the crop, Im not too clever with Adobe). I then open Coreldrawx8 and import the pdf as vectors (not text) and then you can measure the 400% pdf and pull the corner of the coreld drawer to match that size. Then, I change all the text and lines to white, 0.3mm and bring to the front then draw a rectangle, fill it with black, send it to the back and et voila - you have a panel. I then print these at work as their laser printers are better than my ink jet! You can then ungroup it all to remove the switch levers if you intent to put your own in. But I dont know if they are the same scale.
