Fantastic. Love all your livery work.

From what I read it was going to be delivered as two different maps. Might be old news. Really, the maps need time notated "layers"...
-
I tweaked on that as well. At the time I took it to mean the ability to ferry troops and/or extended multi-crew. The implication was that there were new features coming. Did I read somewhere that ED is planning on extending/adding to CA, group troops, playable characters? Are we reading too much from Matt's reading of a script? Like all things ED/DCS, we won't know till we know.

The Authentikit looks great. I'm planning on building one once I get my computer lab rebuild done.

I have the Thrustmaster T.16000 hotas and pedals and have no issues handling the Spitfire - at least nothing that is not pebcak. A lot of fuss has been made over the curves but really adding some generic curves gets one 95% of the way and quite usable. The remaining 5% is user preference and tuning. Getting the brakes on an analog input is huge for this plane and the Russian planes that use similar brakes. I use the flappy paddle on the throttle. With the above as a base... practice, practice, practice. If you haven't invested hours (literally, many focused hours) into ground ops, touch and goes, general take off and landing ops then this plane is going to kick your ass. If you read some of the threads in this forum there tends to be a trend where people complain about this plane and then they have a "eureka!" moment where it all comes together after enough seat time. $0.02

USB / Windows /DCS issues
reece146 replied to Droning_On's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Wasn't there a revised agesa update in the last 4-5+ weeks to address AMD mobo USB issues? -
I don't remember what the ground crew "inflate tires" key press is... anyone?

I saw a post on reddit where constant crashing was fixed by removing nvidia drivers and then reinstalling them. Worth a try?

Not really desiring a B-17 but... Being able to be a gunner on an AI B-17 might be "fun". Sort of airborne combined arms.

This is what it smells like to me - I can't see Newegg being like this but... @aleader please clarify if it was a third party or Newegg "proper".

Been wondering about this. I've been flying the Spit mostly lately and have taken to dropping engine power just before the high speed blower kicks in - "just 'cuz" it seemed like the mechanically sympathetic thing to do.

HA! Dig it.

Yep.

Does it not? I was running a 2070 Super also - but have not investigated - assumed it was coming but... I guess I should look. EDIT: I stand corrected - does not seem to be possible - at least not today.

Interesting. This might be a good edge case to test if there is a noticeable difference with GPU resizable bar enabled. Sounds like your computer was suffering from texture overload, which is all VRAM<->RAM+SSD transfer type transactions. If/when we get the PCI v4 direct disk access in DCS that might help as well. What was that called? GPUDirect? I forget... Out of curiosity, what is your hardware? I haven't gotten around to experimenting with resizable bar yet myself. But, yes - lots of complaints about frame rates out there where you have to wonder if the rig is set up realistically for the equipment at play.

Anybody fly this module without rudder pedals?
reece146 replied to Skwirl865's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
If you wanted an "excuse" to buy rudder pedals... here's your chance. I can't imagine trying to learn this aircraft without pedals - yes it can be done as said above - but OMFG what a chore that must be! -
Yeah, I know the background behind the ideas of Nick's attitudes driving what will or won't be brought into the game. My point was more that surely he can see what people want and put his personal feelings about a real life aircraft aside versus what creates revenue. Re: Me262 versus the Hellcat - given the Marianas coming it makes much more sense to add a Hellcat before the Me262. In fact I'd take a Ju88 or whatever twin engine German raider we could get before the Me262. It would be a deeper experience to bring the '88. Circle back and do the Me262 after other aircraft have been fleshed out I say...

Re: versions of current aircraft - fleshing out the existing planes to several variants of the same aircraft seems like it would be possible without the huge amount of work that starting from scratch on a new airframe entails. Give us 2 to 4 variants of the existing aircraft. Battle of Britain variants of the Spit and the 109, air-to-air variants of the radial 109 (morph D9 to Ta-152?), Razorback Jugs, B model '51 so we can fly that larger scale Shangri-La model kit we all built as kids, etc. A Korean war '51 (H?) would be good too. FWIW, I don't mind paying for more variants of the same aircraft - If I already own the MkIX, I'd pay 50% for a MkI and MkV add on for example. Bubble top griffon powered Spits - different engine and more - might be worth considering a totally new module. I'd be ok with that. Re: perception that Nick doesn't like such and such - does it matter what he personally likes? Mountain out of a mole hill taken out of context I figure. Sure, he might not like flying them or whatever in the real life. But, it's plain as the nose on your face that if ED is going to grow WW2 it needs to get more German planes in the game regardless. With the new clouds and lighting... ED should really work on getting more aircraft in the game quickly as a priority to capitalize on the momentum they've gotten. (see more variants above, see AI the rest below) Anyway, twin engine German planes - makes sense to have something opposite the Mossie role and something for bomber hunting IMO. BoB bombers and newer. AI the rest. So, two full fidelity air frames seems reasonable to me. I guess Do17, Ju-88 and Me110 seems like a reasoable shortlist at that point. Just really like the idea of flying an all glass nosed He-111. We'll never a see a B-29 so... $0.02

I have the civilian sim and the other WW1/WW2 sim and I never play them. Seat of the pants feel (if there is such a thing in a desktop simulator) in DCS is much better. I kept going back to the civilian sim because of the eye candy - last about an hour and then fire up DCS and be up into the wee hours making up lost time "wasted" on the other sim. Now, 2.7 with the new clouds and mostly completed lighting system, eye candy in DCS is more than adequate. The only thing remaining for ED to solve is bigger maps.
