Yes.. Great video. I watched it early this morning. Good timing and should be great reference for those who will be making the Day One Purchase - hopefully in early 2021. -
Barthek's CAUCASUS REDONE 2022
YSIAD_RIP replied to Barthek's topic in Texture/Map Mods for DCS World
Looks like you are installing to Users / Saved Games folder - this MOD must be installed in the DCS.openbeta ROOT folder not in Users Saved Games. Create another Profile in OvGME if necessary so that the MOD installed correctly.. Good luck. -
Same here.. Thanks.

Looking good - I am following this thread Now. Currently I am using F-5E Tiger II pit by Bummer - It will be awesome to have another cockpit option for the F5. Thanks!

The year 2020 has been one to forget - I don't know any family or business that has not been impacted in some way. The two Free to Play promotions and many sales that ED has provided this year are appreciated. Trying modules that I would never have considered has been a rare WIN-WIN situation in the year that was COVID-2020. I share most of the same concerns and opinions of the YAK-52 and it's current Early Access state after two years. That said - it really is crazy fun and relaxing to fly - For a prop plane, visibility in the cockpit is fantastic too. As of today there is a 75% chance that I will buy the moderately priced YAK before this current sale is finished. The YAK-52 is the one plane my Granddaughter was able to consistently take off and fly around in. I can see why the Russians use if for training because it is very easy to fly formations and aerobatics in. It is extra fun when you turn on wake turbulence and fly formation! This evening I made a copy of the MB-339 QuickStart Mission (Batumi- Air show.miz) replacing all the planes with the YAK-52. Flying the YAK is like flying 1/2 speed with other planes LoL. My hope is that ED will be able to finish the YAK in early 2021 and I plan to be there when that "faithful" Open Beta Patch is released! Thanks ED - do your best in 2021.

I just installed the F-80 Mod in my MAIN DCS Folder: \Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\ After that I was able to select and Fly the F-80 in the Mission Editor. Hope that helps.

I agree - explosions, smoke, lighting and or some combination of damage in the environment - challenging indeed.. Glad I am not the developer(s) with the task of trying to find root cause by troubleshooting and "simplifying" the 'ultra complex' DCS Graphics engine. Not fun - I am sure. Good Luck ED thanks @BIGNEWY - Happy Holidays!

investigating Propeller disk too visible
YSIAD_RIP replied to Decibel dB's topic in Bugs and Problems
I will stay positive and hope that ED will "eventually" correct the props once the warbirds damage model is more close to finalized. Maybe fixing too soon would just result in duplicate effort - timing is everything. I HOPE! - Another First World Problem for me. Happy flying.. I feel sorry for the little YAK-52 it deservers a new update this Christmas too - LoL! -

No Change in 2020. No problem.. First World Problem... Any/Someday is fine.. -
No change in Damage Model - It looks like it is still a work in progress. - Glad it is only $20 when on Sale. The POSITIVE side of me hopes that the damage model will be updated when the Warbirds Damage Model is Finalized in 2021!

winter update still on track? (yak-52 candlelit vigil)
YSIAD_RIP replied to twistking's topic in DCS: Yak-52
I was hoping to buy the YAK during the current sale - at only $20 I will not complain about the price. My granddaughter would enjoy the very forgiving and predictable flight characteristics - and so will I. LOL. I did not realize there was such a limited damage model. Nothing new here that has not already been reported 2 years ago in this forum. I would say damage model is 20% complete. The YAK just feels so unfinished - It makes me appreciate the beautiful I-16 even more now. The Yak is indeed very satisfying to fly. Visibility in cockpit is excellent and the cockpit textures very nice. There are also some nice skins available, including a new Canadian RCAF Chipmunk theme. I will take the next 2 weeks of Free 2 Fly and audition the YAK, do my forum and internet searches and see how it goes. Merry Christmas - and here is hoping that the Dec 23 scheduled open beta patch has a few extra Christmas goodies and surprises in it for all of us. -
Hiromachi, thank you for the update - I happily own the MiG-21 and CEII. I am planning to own the iconic F4U in 2021 - the sooner the better! Good luck with the MiG-21 updates and in completing the final stages of the F4U-1D Corsair. Merry Christmas.

Hi @Grajo, Thanks for the generous detailed reply! I did download and "re-install"your Mi-8 Full RoughMetal Patch v01 along with your excellent skins Mi-8 USSR - Afghanistan Liveries Pack v01. AND NOW I SEE THE DRAMATIC IMPROVEMENTS! (Fantastic tire and paint details indeed - See attached screen shot below.) Of course I will follow this thread and will be happy to wait 6 month or more for any updates you may be able to apply. I would not be surprised if ED did some of their own updates to the Mi-8 in 2021, and would hope they save valuable time by using your Goodies Pack. Until then, good luck in your new job - Merry Christmas and Thank you! Cheers. JJF.

Very nice.. I did not expect that much detail! Thanks in advance.. Happy Holidays.

Thank you ED for the early Christmas gift by way of the Free To Play starting on December 22nd. I just bought the Mi-8MTV2 during this most recent Winter sale and the Spitfire during the last sale. I look forward to all the new modules coming and to the updates to the OLD CLASSICS. Merry Christmas!

DCS Persian Gulf - terrain noise tiles fix.
YSIAD_RIP replied to Mustang's topic in Texture/Map Mods for DCS World
It looks like the Mod still makes a difference if you want to minimize noise. I just did a quick compare between New PG Terrain Default vs using Mustangs DCS Persian Gulf - terrain noise tiles fix. First Photo is Default... Second is with MUSTANG Terrain Noise Tiles Fix.. -

@Grajo - I just bought the Mi-8 today - These constant ED $ALE$ are killing me! lol.. Of course the first thing I did ( just like I did with the Spitfire) was install one of your excellent Mods. I noticed in this thread you give thanks to 104th_Fallen and T. Nark on their UnOfficial RoughMet patch : https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=233321 Maybe I am tired or, too new to the Mi-8, but I was having trouble trying to see the differences between your Mi-8 RoughMet Mod and the one from 104th_Fallen. I can see some differences in files and sizes in the MI-8MT folder but not seeing differences in screenshots. What should I be looking for - or is my New 31'' Monitor turning to crap too? lol. Cheers.

While you are waiting for a good powered USB HUB, try to turn the LED BRIGHTNESS to OFF and see if it is at least a little better. (Make R G B = 0 0 0)
