I know this is very early in the proces, but I was just wondering if I should consider purchasing some stocks in a papermill and the printer cartridge industry, not to mention if is should hoard some extra cash for the manual. Staffan

Just brilliant, Thanks Matt Staffan

I installed the patch directly over 1.01c no issues at all, I think Slug has a point. Staffan

The simple answer would be that ED has been doing a A-10C trainer for the US ANG and have secured the rights to create a entertainment product from that trainer (as far as I can remember). Second, it is not meant as a product for the Lock On/Flaming Cliffs series but for the Digital combat Simulator series, none of the planes in the FC series has even a fraction of the functionality that will be in the DCS series. with regard to multirole ac then one reason I could se is the radar modelling, I don't think that DCS has a proper A/G radar modelled yet. Small arms doesn't create that much of a muzzle flash, and seeing it in daylight from a moving jet would be surprisingly difficult. Not much brush and trees ins Afghanistan, try googling Helmand and the green zone, it is named so for a reason. Not saying these things to be a wisea$$ but knowing people from the danish army that serves on the ground in that area and hearing how they describe it (having had to relie on the GPS from the Leopard 2A5DK tanks to spot targets, simply because the TI is far superior to any naked eye spotting there, mainly because of high elephant grass, brushes, and wooded areas. strangely the Helmand provinse is also one of the places where there has been the most fighting. Chris "BeachaAV8R" Frishmuth from SimHq did a short review in the latest issue of PC Pilot magazine, he also have a regular tutorial on the KA-50 from DCS: Black Shark. Staffan

two questions about A10-C and DCS/FC Series
Squid_DK replied to chromium's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I'd prefer it if ED were to focus on 1) the military clients 2) bringen more planes to DCS, to keep improving on FC would (from what I understand) mean diverting a lot of resources (programmers) away from the DCS series, and that would IMO be counterproductive. Staffan -
SimHQ DCS: A-10C Warthog Preview Mission Editor images now available
Squid_DK replied to guod's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
nice screens Doug... EvilBivol-1 Sounds good... I ahve this strange tingling sensation that tells me that either I'm loosing the sense of touch or DCS: A-10C will be a very very good sim! Staffan -
My dream sim, that would be one of two things, both would be career based even on multiplayer, first would be a naval aviator simulation, complete with proper deckhandling and comms. the second would be a naval sim, you start with one of a number of specialties (ASW warfare surface warfare, sensor or the like, and then choose your platform type (but not the platform) learn to master systems and get promoted see if you could end up as a TG commander (You'd need the previous game to earn TF commander) Staffan

New info on DCS A-10C and on thrustmaster HOTAS!!
Squid_DK replied to kingneptune117's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Then you should checkout the SimHq frontpage, there Matt confirms the 2010 release no date however which is understandable, there's also an interview with Panther regarding DCS: A-10C in the article. Staffan -
+ Remember to have the gear retracted... Staffan

If you have other CH controllers go to setup and check axis for them, the ministick on the throttle might also be programmed as aileron and elevator control, as might some axis on the pedals, I only use Lockons controller setup, that let me tweak it for the individual plane plus it's real easy to do in the sim. New to KA-50 and need Ramp Start help
Squid_DK replied to Major SNAFU's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
My take on Re-Cap and Cap, re-cap is where you first lift a cap to manipulate a switch and then close that cap or lid again (IE APU or engine governors) cap is where you just manipulate a switch and then close the cap. Staffan -
Actually it just checks for LOMAC 1.0 that was all I had installed. You don't need to install it to the same directory as lock On and you can uninstall Lock On afterwards (I did). Mine is running super smooth at max graphics and at a resolution of 1920x1080 Catalyst 10.2 no issues or crashes. Staffan

ED: FC2 - commercial success or failure?
Squid_DK replied to garengarch's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I don't think they will comment on sales, most software companies don't. sales number for simulations are always very low compared to "mainstream" games, on the other hand simulations tend to live longer lives, there's only so many ways you can complete any COD game. Staffan -
Try jumping into water and land on your stomach, it is not that soft or squishy... water is actually pretty dense, and the projectiles move pretty darn fast, you even get ricochets from tank rounds, I read somewhere that up to Desert Storm where the tanks were practicing firing in the desert they had shots bounce and thay got tracked by radar up to 16000 feet. Staffan

Yep it is right, try to find some clips of beaufighters from Coastal command or F4U's from USN attacking shipping you will se a lot of richochets of water, I have even seen it with small arms training from ships. Staffan

FC2 - A-10 Mission Report...!
Squid_DK replied to BeachAV8R's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Stop those thoughts Chris, you're making me drool!!! Again cool report, Have you had a chance to play around with the SU-27 yet? Suddenly just working the radar is a quest in its own, I can definetely understand why the western a/c are so automated. Staffan -
Is there a way to give the Gau-8 Combat Mix?
Squid_DK replied to 5by5's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
The low gun setting was deleted from the A-10 a while back, so it shouldn't be available, also quoted by GGTharos at least once on this board. Staffan -
Next DCS (US) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List
Squid_DK replied to diecastbg's topic in DCS Core Wish List
This speculation doesn't really lead anywhere, what they'll make is entirely up to them and possible military clients, I know that even if they'd make the famous elastic powered plane I'd propably get it, so no more speculating from me, what I was mentioning earlier in this thread was also that speculation and some wishful thinking. Staffan -
Next DCS (US) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List
Squid_DK replied to diecastbg's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I'd like the Apache, however either the SU-27 or the F-15 would be nice..... Or my little wishfuld heart would be extremely pleased by DCS:Tomcat However that is all speculation.... or rather wishful thinking, even though I have an idea that Matt wouldnt shun away from the latter, if the info were available. Staffan -
I can see a lot of great opportunities with coop, where the KA-50 does it's FAC thing! 1) The KA-50 can sneak up and take care of close defences (Zoo or the likes) 2) The KA-50 will have the possibility to take a good long recon of the area and even point out attack lanes and areas to avoid. 3) Having a smoke marker on the ground where you're supposed to put your eyes and weapons does make the job for the fast jets a lot easier, it also gives the Helo some basic defense agains other jets (Off course this should be left for dedicated platforms like Fulcrum, Flanker or Eagles) Staffan

Yeah talk about a major "shotgun blast from hell" did that, they all landed approx 20 meters too short, the little #"¤¤#% then shot at me and put my left engine on fire Staffan

I agree with Grimes, you have to think before letting loose with CBU's Staffan

I'd go with option 3 Staffan
