Well hurry up and get accessed. Wags just went all awesome in the Backers forum.

Awesome, really?

I mean, Wags probably is, but the whole thing is rather sad.

Awesome, in that it's probably the best thing to happen to this project in a while, at lease if you define best as "best chance of delivering what was promised".

A lot of us have access, but I really see no point in locking people out of that forum now, in fact they should just merge the thing, simplify the whole DCS WW2 project into a single open forum.

There were lots of promises made, with good intentions no doubt, but sadly a lot fell by the way side.

Time for a fresh start I think.

A single forum for the DCS WW2 stuff open for all is maybe not a bad idea.

I think the backers section will be maintained, of course if all the backers got together and decided this was a perk they no longer needed, I am sure you could approach ED with that. It is hard to maintain a private section when those private thoughts are spread across the internet in a matter of minutes anyways :)

Agree, and I am a culprit at that :music_whistling:

I would certainly agree to dumping the 'private' backer's section.

EDIT: I considered reposting Wag's post out here but figured I would leave that to SiTh and company.

Seriously, ED have always been awesome; now Wags is awesome as well. Kidding aside, I can't think of any other developer to carry that torch.

ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P

OK, so since details of the turmoil are not visible to general public I guess its time to follow through as to why I don't have access to backers forum.

Who do I need to contact about that?

Groove is apparently still the guy.

You have to authorize your account through the DCS website, see the first link in the update:

http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/personal/backer/

Unfortunately I do not have permission to access to the backers forum.

I used a different e-mail as a Paypal founder therefore I was not able to use my "old" username with the new e-mail, so I registrated my "new" username on https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/ (DCS page) in March.

My normal forum access is working (via DCS page) and DCS: WWII Backer Rewards Personal Section too but I cant go into the backers forum :(

What did I do wrong ?

So far, only five aircrafts I chose of the six on the DCS: WWII Backer Rewards Personal Section, so i did not finished yet completeley the form. Selected Flyables: 5 / 6

I left the 6th aircraft line blank (please select) so far. This is the problem ?

Posted (edited)

I don't have access to the closed backers forum, but I do have access to the DCS backer rewards section and have an account there. Every thing is sweet.

But what do I need to do to get into the hallowed ground of the backers forum?

At CombatAce there's a thread /"]http://combatace.com/topic/82986-dcs-is-getting-ridiculous/ that states that RRG is out of business...Tough luck for the backers but it was foretold that this could happen with the CloD debacle in hindsight and with the very same Luthier...

Also the bottom ED line is and has always been that everything is subject to change, so if you back a project/module you never know what can happen or become of it like fe this module, the Mig-21 module or the Nevada terrain...

Thank you for the info Lost.

I pray ED hires more people so they can get more of the tedious tasks done at a smoother pace. That way they can focus on the game engine. Perhaps one day I will also be able to move the position of the controls indicator for my favorite FC3 aircraft so we can enjoy them more while we wait. Meanwhile I bought CA to support ED! Thank you:pilotfly:

What has become of "this module" id that ED continues to develop and honors KS commitments. Sure, everything is subject to change, but the change in this particular case is for the better. Leatherneck did the same for Mig-21 and release is imminent. No one paid for Nevada, yet. Wags said it'll be free to those who purchased A10C beta and I'm positive they'll honor that as well.

Wags wrote that much of the RRG team is now employed by ED for this project.

So the bottom line is don't pledge money to an unfinished module or pipe dream?

EDIT: I was wondering the reasons behind VEAO taking on WW2 projects, now we know

You are getting way ahead of yourself. The RRG team minus luthier is now employed by ED. VEAO has nothing to do with this.
