AFAIK, EDGE was never mentioned to support or use Tessellation.

EDGE uses Clipmaps.

Thx for the response. I wonder if they are going to let people develop terrain as they have for FSX

From Wags "Qualified development teams have and will be granted licenses to enable them to develop and sell maps, however, the map tools will not be released to the general public."

Isn't that Catch 22? Let's say I would like to develop a map. But I'm not "qualified" (whatever that means) because I never saw terrain SDK before. But I can't get SDK (and licence) because I'm not qualified dev team. What. :helpsmilie: How that works?

Has nothing to do with being qualified with the tools. It has everything to do with showing you can produce a map at the quality level ED expects.

Good experience in 3DS Max, good textures artists, making maps in FSX is good (proof that you can show), and access to good DTED and textures.

Sounds like the decision has been made for WWII backers as to whether they would honor the kickstarters award for this. Correct me if I am wrong. I could not recall an announcement on that.

1.2.11 update

Hi,

Will the 1.2.11 update as referred to in the October news letter incorporate any bug fixes for the MiG21?

Thanks,

Luke

The backers reward was slightly different... it was the builder but not the ability to compile... so they need to figure out how to do that, and then they will let us know... so no, they dont get full tools, but they should get something.

I am not making my point it seems, and it is not at all my point to be disrespectful, nor do i wish to fence with anyone on the subject. I will take responsibility for not making my point clear. I suppose another way of making my point is, if you already had production line A online, and you were not making your schedule,, did you still HIRE other workers, to work on production line B instead of hiring workers to work on production line A so you could finish on schedule? If supply and demand were for products on production line A, and consumers were not so concerned with what you were making on production line B so much, they would ask why are you hiring staff for production line B when we primarily want the product from line A? Ehhh,,, not here to create a problem,, just was making a point that was mis interpreted I suppose. I hope I cleared up my position? If not,, Im done anyway,,, thanks for taking the time to hear me out,,,

You are over simplifying it.

Here. Yo-Yo finishes these Fw-190 FM, that is his specialty.

Currently EDGE is in progress and critical to get out.

DO you ask him to help out there, which he probably doesnt have much knowledge or skills suited for Maps, or do you ask him to start on the Me-109 (or other FM)

Good news seeing the size of Nevada. It's come a long way. 3 airbases will be something to adapt to coming from the Black Sea, but ED can add to the map later.

I wonder if, like the current map, we'll have "static" airports like the small Kutaisi strips and the X field.

Software development doesn't work like factory production of goods. You can't always just throw more people at the problem and solve it faster that way. Every new programmer on the team needs to communicate and coordinate with the rest. If there are too many of them, work cannot be divided efficiently. Also, moving programmers between projects is a long and therefore costly process. The new guy on the team will need to learn the ropes and will take up a lot of his senior colleagues' time as he does so. Most of the time that means that for a few days, weeks or even months he'll be slowing the work down rather than accelerating it.

That doesn't help since the new guy has to be able work within the existing code.

except if the new guy is able to update/upgrade the code as well :D

Its a nice thought, but, he/ she has to be brought up to speed on that code, gaining familiarity with it, and then has to bring others up to speed on the updated/ upgraded code... as things grind to a slow down in production in the process
