upupandaway Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 After checking out the videos I find myself thinking that the good old Georgia map might not be so "boring" anymore after the update finally touches down... [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Deedle, deedle!
MemphisBelle Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Since about two years their announcements sound like EDGE and stuff is waiting right behind the corner so newsletters like this one - so appealing they might be - don't impress me anymore. Finally release something, THEN I can be happy (maybe)... you really believe that the harsh tone will make them release it earlier just because of you are´nt impressed anymore? I dont think so, be happy and register that the official release has come closer BlackSharkDen | BSD Discord | DCS Tutorial Collection
Catastrophy Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 New maps confirmed? I like that! A lot. Also interested what's coming to CA. I like designing missions and watch the battles unfold before I assume direct control.
Gladman Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Who said the focus is on the L-39? Seems like the Hornet is busy at a different stage then the L-39. I guess, based on the statement that the L-39 will be the next to be released. I get it that the Hornet is coming, most certainly I do. I'm of course being selfish and to be honest, the Hornet is really the only reason I'm here. :) I suppose the Hornet could be released 2 days after the L-39. Who knows. Dale PS: still can't suck my lip in. The Hornet is way more complex of an aircraft with things like A2G radar... be glad they are putting other modules and updates out while they work on the Hornet. The way I understood the L-39 was that a lot of stuff was done a long time ago, possibly before the Hornet started, it was just decided to move forward with it recently. Looking at the screenshots, I am assuming the person working on those systems for the Hornet is busy with that and nobody is bugging him/her. 98abaile Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 I can wait (a little bit) for the rest, but I'm really hyped for DCS2.

Finally release something, THEN I can be happy (maybe)... Agreed. The newsletter is nice, don't get me wrong. But I really do think they need to focus their efforts a bit more and actually release some of it. I'd much rather a series of smaller updates focusing on individual elements than wait indefinitely for a single big update that covers everything. That said, the videos are a nice touch. The sense of speed down low is very good. Can't wait to fly down the strip in a Ka-50. :P 2

Witchking Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 I like the SAM killer video. love the way the old terrain looks under EDGE. Also love the smooth smoke. Looks so much nicer. upupandaway Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 (edited) Also love the smooth smoke. Looks so much nicer. Yeah, I noticed that, too. That in combination with the improvements to visibility does really give you a different sense of what´s going on around you. Throw in a nice VR headset and you´re set up for life. I´d love to see some dark smoke columns from wreckage at some point. And the clouds... For what can be achieved within the technical restrictions of this genre, I personally think the new visual quality of DCS can be compared to the sense ARMA 3 gives you in terms of visual immersion into an environment. AtaliaA1 Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 (edited) I know, I was just confirming ;) Yes, I got that. As far as no small undertaking goes. That sentence barely covers it. I couldn't imagine DCS releasing something like the old 1.3 ver. with all of the problems it had. Guys think about it (those that have been around long enough to remember) the Dev. have learned a lot sense those days, it used to be Bugs bugs and more bugs. now with all they have learned those bugs are for the most part gone in comparison. The thought of any developer releasing a product before its time in this tech. market is not solid business practice. We all have seen, if not experienced the release of buggy software and games. For our beloved DCS to take their time and release a product that has all the problems worked out is nothing short of what I would expect them to do (and want) even if it takes a bit longer. Those bugs are what brought me to DCSs' Forums. For those who know me fixing errors in hardware is My forte. Not bragging at all. The challenge is awesome. remembering the techy. fixes that got my customers up and running based on passed experience is very rewarding. We are beyond those days now. BSODs' are far gone considering the past. So allow the artists to create, find your patience in the fact that the software is by far the best on the market for flight Sims. The reason it is that way is the increased diligence of the teams involved. Who find no fun in releasing the buggy product of old. Kudos to all involved. I am loving the software more and more each day. Edited April 30, 2015 by AtaliaA1 1 This was a Boutique Builder iBuypower rig. msalama Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Now I'm surely a heretic, but I'm actually more excited about the L-39 than the Hornet. (runs away fast) (peeks around the corner... no rotten tomatos flying yet. Good!) *spoken in a tiny voice* but I'm a groundpounder... and I know the Hornet is a multifunction platform... but still... upupandaway Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Which version number was CA introduced with? I remember the MP part being a little choppy at times, if you were lucky... :) But that´s beside the point... [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Deedle, deedle!
