Baltic Dragon is one of the best. Of that, there is no doubt. His missions are worth paying for.

This for sure. His briefings are great - and the creative use of the F10 menu is a nice feature. And..I mentioned it in the article..the technical sound of the radio messages (they sound like radio messages) is very good. I've only dabbled in the Mission Editor a bit..but I can imagine how time consuming getting all that stuff together was. Really nice job and worth a few bucks (or more) to get some cool gameplay out of DCS.

I'm super psyched to continue the campaign... I'd like to post more stuff, but I don't want to ruin any of the story as it unfolds. :)

Thanks to Baltic Dragon and ED for allowing me to shove the two items together for the purposes of the article. I can't wait to see the new clouds that ED is working on!

i love the shades around the mountains and the haze!

Indeed. The visibility and haze, when coupled with low-angle light and deep shadows really makes World 2.0 look fantastic. I tell ya..the sun glare and stuff is really good. I haven't experimented with the different modes of HDR, but I liked the one I used.

LOL..that end shot is pretty embarrassing. I got a wing full of stand-off weapons and there I am diving into the valley. My only excuse is that I've been away from the A-10C for a bit..and couldn't really remember the steps to get things like LGBs on target in my panic to help out the downed Hind. A more proficient pilot would have gotten a nice scenic picture of them, in their cockpit, back at home base with empty ordnance rack and an Mi-24 parked next to them.. LOL..

Great review as usual and an introduction to a new campaign:thumbup: the world looks gorgeous and I am so glad our old map looks stunning. Probably the best news from the review is the compatability of old missions within the new graphics engine:)

Everything about the graphics is astounding. Everything I've seen about EDGE is just killing me! But, patience is a virtue so I remain virtuous. There is one small exception: the tree shadows. They look a bit too hard. Maybe they can be softened a bit? Or lightened? I DO like the shadows. They add to the realism. But they look painted on.

The haze is simply awesome. Photo-realistic!

Oh, and the end shot: actually, you're like 99% of us because we get shot down a lot, too. :)

Well, at least I do...

The Hornet is best at killing things on the ground. Now, if we could just get a GAU-8 in the nose next to the AN/APG-65, a titanium tub around the pilot, and a couple of J-58 engines in the tail...

Good review, made me download the campaign.

TBH the terrain looks good enough and not very far from EDGE after enough mods are applied, but can't compare the cool new effects.

On the second mission I was not shot at and only got partial success ( had my finger ready to spam flares for an hour)

Just WOW...this certainly addresses a lot of the conjecture about what EDGE will do for our old map. Nice job! And thank you for this.

Thanks to Chris for a great review and to all of you for words of appreciation for the campaign! I might have a little surprise up my sleeve when it comes to the EW and I am working on another SP campaign + a very extensive SP mission with great replayability, but that is a bit off topic here.

On topic - great news to see that DCS 1.0 campaign works so well with DCS 2.0 :) although I am eager to see what will change in the Mission Editor and to hear the new ATC!

I have been involved in beta testing some of Baltic Dragon's new adventures and can assure everyone that he still has a few tricks up his sleeve that will raise the bar for mission design for both SP and MP missions.

Good to hear. I guess that means more beer money donations to BD.

Whoa, if I drink too much beer the mission quality might suffer.. :music_whistling: working on new projects though, Blooze is right!
