Thanks Wags!

Hi all, a little update:

Yes, we are still pushing very hard to release DCS World 2.0 and the Nevada map open alphas by the end of this month. At this time, all looks good as we kill bugs and add some more content. However, as we continue testing, it is of course possible that a blocking bug could rear its ugly head and change our plans a bit.

We are proud that we have a good record in achieving our pre-sell / open beta release dates. Over the last few years, we only slightly missed announced open beta dates twice (Fw 190D due to internal server issues and the L-39 due to the release version not being ready) and in both cases it was only by a single day.

We hope to have DCS World 2.0 and the NTTR map to you soon.

Thanks!

The big sales (i.e. -70% or so) are a thing of the past AFAIK; pretty sure someone at ED's said so a while ago. Correct me if I'm wrong, though.

Correct, Sales w/ Large % Off are done, and smaller sales will be further in between..

Guys - products cost money. It's pretty straightforward. If you have a problem with it, don't buy it. You don't HAVE to own or install every module...

True, but if the goal is to maximize sale numbers then that isn't good.

The $50 is much cheaper than flight lessons, sourcing and renting or buying the actual aircraft.

Comparing games to physical aircraft or training lessons is down right silly.

It can't seriously surprise you if you've been playing games for any length of time over the past several years especially - with the rise of tons of DLC for every AAA title out now. Which, by the way, never goes on sale.

Which AAA games have DLC that never goes on sale? Only a single one series, Mass Effect, fits that criteria that I can think of. Essentially every other title massively discounts addons/DLCs rather quickly.

Except more often than not, foregoing the purchase of that DLC breaks the compatibility for multiplayer with people who do own the DLCs.

This depends on the game. DCS is an example of a game in which DLC will break the compatibility of multiplayer. Those that do not own the NTTR and future maps won't be able to play missions with those that do own it. That is my main concern regarding expensive maps.

Here you're meant to pick and choose what you want to fly - if you want everything, you're going to have to suck it up. If you want to wait for the sales to buy everything, you're going to have to expect to pay that extra 10% now.

Some of the modules are now roughly twice as much as they used to be, so it isn't exactly 10% more now. I think the big problem is the discount amount over time. When the UH-1 came out it when down to $8 very quickly, which is rather awkward. That high of a discount occurred too soon. On the other hand, $24 for the A-10C, a title which is many years old and has been cheaper many times in the past isn't that great of a discount.

I would prefer a system which starts out with minimal discounts and as the title aged became discounted more. It would be more in line with the rest of the industry and allows impulse buyers to grab a module or two on the cheap that they wouldn't have bought otherwise.

If we are this close to release when are we going to see the NTTR in our profiles (For those of us who bought the A-10c while it was a beta).

Yep I don't think they have ever strayed on that plan since announcing earlier that NTTR and 2.0 would arrive late November.

Really looking forward to this, hat's off to ED.

In fact they are running a big sale apparently, going to have to pick up another module or two as well. Lord knows I have more now than I will probably ever get time to learn them all , but gotta support them!

I came to DCS four or five years ago, they were talking about it, then!

2 weeks...

I thought people said it was showing up already, but I might be mistaken.... make sure you log in first.

50$ for a map is ok for me.

I can go up to 100$ for a good modern fighter like rafale or typhoon.

I think that they should adapt the price to the development time of the module. I can pay more than 60 € for the Hornet, but not 50 or 60 for a ww2 fighter which has been done in ten times less time..

Until now I was buying the modules that I'm not much interested at great discounts, in order to collect them and support ED, because I rarely fly them, but maybe it is going to change in the future.
