cichlidfan
This does NOT pass Integrity check for Multiplayer The mod cannot be 'updated' to pass the IC. The IC would have to be changed to ignore whichever file is causing it not to pass. AFIAK, changes to shader files are not allowed by the IC because they have the potential for give a player an advantage in things like spotting enemy units, which would be considered a cheat. al531246
I wish ED would drop a patch which enabled color vision for the A-10C TGP. The real life counterpart has this function so it seems odd that we don't. Truth be told it's actually needed now more than ever in DCS given the aids of the current 'thermal'. Here's to hoping! al531246
No it does not. The TGP modeled in the sim does not produce a color picture. The A-10Cs that are currently in operation have been through a number of modification phases since the version modeled by ED. Surely the color ability comes from the LITENING pod itself. The pod we have in-game is the LITENING AT (Advanced Targeting) pod aka LITENING II. According to everything I've found on the net, it has both FLIR and CCD which is basically color tv. Heck even in the DCS A-10C manual it says it has CCD. TheBamse
Negative. CCD in the Litening II is B&W. It's a single chip CCD, not a 3CCD or even a simpler Bayer filter that would be required for color. I am, however, struggling to find what version the color-CCD was added to, but according to this source it's in the LITENING G5 which is very very new and I cannot find and info on if it's officially fielded yet,; http://aviationweek.com/paris-air-show-2015/rafael-unveiling-litening-5-reccelite-xr This article explicitly says color is an upgrade in G5 from the G4, so the regular II-version certainly won't have it if the article is right; https://www.flightglobal.com/news/articles/rafael39s-litening-pod-to-gain-air-to-air-capability-408161/ Edited April 11, 2017 by TheBamse
cichlidfan
CCD which is basically color tv. Heck even in the DCS A-10C manual it says it has CCD. No it isn't a color TV. CCD = Charge Coupled Device https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charge-coupled_device Face it. If the device produced a color image, don't you think ED would have done it that way instead of doing the extra code to convert the color image to B&W? Pocket Sized
We probably can't have a color TGP for the same reason we can't have laser mavericks: they aren't available on the version of the Hog ED agreed to make with the USAF. However there definitely are improvements that could be made to the current TGP, most notably a proper FLIR simulation, but that's already been discussed at great length in other threads. DCS modules are built up to a spec, not down to a schedule. In order to utilize a system to your advantage, you must know how it works.

It's a bugger to find them, I've found one here I think, skip to 2:57 and try to ignore the horrendous music! As I said earlier. The model of TGP that is used in the sim does not have color capability. Yes, they exist. Yes, the A-10C uses them but ours is a fairly old iteration of the device.
