On the changelog has....

Ground Units: MLRS' wind correction has been fixed. BM-30 “Smerch” 9M55F rocket with single HE warhead has been added for test. The old one (9M55K) is still used as primary.

 

how can use that new rocket for test them? CA required?

Got the email newsletter today. tried updating DCS (1.5.3) - no joy. Went into the game and even mentions on the homescreen a new update is available.

 

Does it mention anywhere its only for Openbeta?

9 times out of 10, all updates will go Open Beta first for obvious reasons.

wtf is this..no if it said 1.5.3 BETA update 1 then OK it's beta but i launch my RELEASE CLIENT 1.5.3 AND SEE UPDATE I EXPECT A UPDATE...ya know.

why do I get a newsletter and also in the "stable release" a message saying a new update is available. but its really not available? It mentions and I quote "Today we will release the Update 1 for DCS World version 1.5.3"

I believe sometimes updates are important enough and tested enough to go to OB and release at the same time. In this case, its making a short stop at OB before going live to make sure all is good. This isnt really all that new though.

Where are you getting this info????? not what they have done in the previous weeks.

Its simple, an update is ready. They launch though Open Beta to make sure there are no huge issues with the release. If there isnt, it will got to the release version ASAP.

 

Yes in the past they have release at the same time but I believe that is only in cases where they feel the patch needs to get out to release immediately and/or they are confident no major issues will be introduced.

i think the main point here is not the update process (alpha, beta etc) but more of the communications. Email newsletter, forum and 1.5.3 game all state an update to 1.5.3 is available. It clearly is not, and this confuses a lot of people. Not all DCS users look at the forums

open beta is the same thing as stand alone 1.5. Open beta normally gets the patch first to check for errors then goes live to stand alone. Maybe you guys should run just the open beta so you stay ahead of the curve as it seems you have issues not being first served. Me personally i just run 1.5 open beta and 2.0 alpha perfect setup in my mind until 2.0 is all wrapped up official.

Their is more people on open beta than you think and also most major servers run it to stay ahead of the ball curve. Your choice

Just been flying in TAW server with Open beta and it was quite busy, also noticed 70+ clients using it in MP lobby.

If everything checks out with the Open Beta release it will be moved to the stable release. There is no time table on that. ASAP is probably the order of the day. It isnt really different than most other times as I have stated a couple times now.
