Silky
The P-38 flew over 130,000 sorties in the European theater, and downed over 1,800 aircraft in the Pacific theater. And I don't see it on the roadmap. Spit/47/262/Stuka are great, but then I see.. Vampire - Post War Meteor - 45 A2G kills during the last week of the war. F8F - Post War Ho-229? As cool as it is, please no. I-16 - What's it going to fight? P-40F's facing K-4's and D-9's! The top 2 American aces flew the P-38, it broke a few records, why is it being neglected?
fastfreddie
Twin engine and lack of American developers would be my guess. Unless someone like Leatherneck or ED does it I don't see it happening anytime soon. VEAO (British) is concentrating on aircraft they are interested in and have access to the planes which is why you see the F8, Vampire, P40, etc. Is someone really making an I-16? DSR_T-800
The modules you've mentioned have nothing to do with DCS's WWII Europe 1944. Yeah P-38 would be pretty nice to own. Possibly this is on the roadmap for the other developers. http://i.imgur.com/LYvIQFB.gifv
KansasCS
The best addition right now would be bomber of any kind. Bristol blennheim, ju88 It doesn't need to be a heavy 4 engined beast, just something that requires escort and could pave the way for more complex online gameplay, beyond the mindless dogfight servers we have now. VIKBELL
+1 There are 2 categories of fighter pilots: those who have performed, and those who someday will perform, a magnificent defensive break turn toward a bug on the canopy. Yeah look up OctopusG. I saw them on a roadmap from like 2013 working on the I-16, but otherwise haven't heard anything from them. If you look on their facebook page they appear to still be very involved in the project, and its actually looking very good.
fastfreddie
I'm fine with someone building Russian planes but what a choice. I guess its better than having another trainer.

They post progress updates roughly once a month here on the forums. EDIT: Also I think the I-16 is a great first plane for a 3rd party: armed, iconic, widely used, rather simple concerning its systems. EDIT2: The I-16 will be a wonderful enemy for Polychop's Stuka, or a future Bf-109E (I kinda hope for one). WinterH
I-16 is a plane I hate with a passion. Seriously, I really hate it :D. Still, I am glad someone is doing it. Looks like a twitchy and interesting plane to fly, and DCS is best at representing that. I second the wish for Emil though. I would love a Bf-109E4 or E7, along with a Jabo version. Wishlist: F-4E Block 53 +, MiG-27K, Su-17M3 or M4, AH-1F or W circa 80s or early 90s, J35 Draken, Kfir C7, Mirage III/V DCS-Dismounts Script
Aginor
Everyone who has ever been in a turn fight with it hates it with a passion. :D There is a reason it was produced from 1933 to 1943! DCSW weapons cheat sheet speed cheat sheet

Any DCS level aircraft would be a joy to fly of course, but looking at historic background some aircraft were there more than others. The top 2 American aces flew the P-38, it broke a few records, why is it being neglected? You're pointing mostly VEAO's roadmap, that's only one of many third parties, Leatherneck is working on a F4U1D and Iwo Jima map for instance. VEAO is a British third party and they have access to British flying aircraft and info so they try to resemble them, that's all. They changed their minds yet but don't forget at first they announced an "airshow warbirds pack". The Ho229 and I-16 you point are mods (they were at least). A P-38 would be awesome, but IMHO it should be done by ED itself at least for the first time. The big problem is being a twin, if you have read a bit into how DCS models are done you know FM complexity is unparalleled and previously unseen in any flight simulator, modelling a twin prop engine aircraft DCS level is a huge task and probably not at hand for every third party. May be after 262 is modelled they can go into some other prop twins. S! "I went into the British Army believing that if you want peace you must prepare for war. Any DCS level aircraft would be a joy to fly of course, but looking at historic background some aircraft were there more than others. S! I would say its historical background more than qualifies it to be included in a WW2 plane set as much as any other late war AC. The only reason it did not acquire a higher number of kills or losses was the fact that it had flying restrictions imposed due to the raf not wanting it to end up in enemy hands. The Fmk3 variant transferred to the continent in Dec 1944 and was fully operational. Within a dcs ww2 environment it is a completely viable option from dec 1944 onwards for the mk3.
