Your current v2.0 install will be updated to v2.1 and, as I understand it, it will included the new lighting that is being seen in the kickstarter closed alpha shots and vids. In essence, the backers are running what you will get next week, possibly, minus the past month worth of tweaks that ED may include. cichlidfan Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 but backers got a separate install for Normandy, not an upgrade to v2.1 with Nevada and Normandy in a single executable, correct? Yes. rss0900 Posted May 26, 2017 Posted May 26, 2017 So were the Nevada low texture issues fixed in the 2.1 release? Also had a major downgrade sometime after 1.5 in the graphics department. Any point in installing 2.1?

Ala12Rv-watermanpc Posted May 26, 2017 Posted May 26, 2017 I wasnt sure about it, but I noticed something different in the engine's smoke in the last wags video and...yes!, finally the smoke looks SMOOTH just like IRL very nice...FPS wise the game runs much slower than before, over an empty place my 1070 sounds like its going to blow and its between 75-100% (mexed settings 2560x1080)...lighting wise is looking good. Take a look at my MODS here

Hard to put my finger on it, but man - I am impressed. Ah ok nice - some positive comments lol. Was hoping for some improvement in NTTR with 2.1. Unfortunately with VR there is not much 'wiggle room' for losing even more FPS, but it is what it is. Still downloading here, so looking forward to checking out the more realistic desert. Vampire
ED Team NineLine Posted May 26, 2017 ED Team Posted May 26, 2017 With FPS, you may need to play with your settings, a lot has changed, tweaking those settings for the best results. Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**

Any point in installing 2.1? Can confirm the low res textures are gone, yes looks better although the high texture mountain detail seems to be a little too patchy on the mountains not always blending in with the surrounding terrain. New shaders look great, minor hit to performance on my machine.

I hate sounding negative, but by 'tweaking your settings' you mean turn everything down to min to get similar performance you had before the 'update'? I mean, that's all you can mean right - obviously increasing settings will not yield better results. Vampire

If you have to, then yes lower settings, this is an early access version, it has new tech we havent had before, it might require lower settings until its optimized better and bugs cleaned up. The only other option is to wait till a more stable release. Welcome to Early Access... we go through the same, even worse conditions on internal versions. Ok cheers - apologies I didn't know the update to 2.1 was optional, and we could stay at 2.0 if we wanted to. Stuff just seems to stay 'early access' for a VERY long time in DCS. NTTR still has 'Early Access' on the store page, and I thought I saw a post by yourself that that development has stopped on this terrain? In any case, just tried out 2.1 at NTTR and whatever that 'Deferred Shading' option is, or is supposed to do - it completely killed DCS - totally unflyable as it stutters REALLY bad even just gently banking side to side/way too bright/low FPS/green dot in the middle of the F-15 HUD etc. Were all these issues genuinely missed/not evident during 'internal testing'? With it off NTTR is the same for me, poor terrain resolution, 90FPS over desert with the usual stutters looking out the side and regular huge drops in performance for a split second for no reason, so no change from 2.0 :(. But then I guess I am using am 'Early Access' Base Engine with an 'Early Access' Terrain, I suppose I should be thankful it even loads/runs. Edited May 27, 2017 by VampireNZ Vampire

ED Team NineLine Posted May 27, 2017 ED Team Posted May 27, 2017 NTTR development is pretty much over, but 2.5 should be considered the release version, anything before that can still have issues with the graphics engine, which may effect the map and how its rendered. ThorBrasil Posted May 27, 2017 Posted May 27, 2017 It was very beautiful the Nevada in 2.1. But it was extremely heavy. I lost almost 30 FPS with this update.
