Can you imagine learning the avionics of the F-18 then regressing back to the Tomcat? Like going from the Dreamliner to the original 707

Yes I can. I'm actually looking forward to the F-14 and F-4 a lot more than the Hornet, just because they are more "pilot's airplanes" (aka no FBW).

As has been said by Bignewy that you did not want to add the @openbeta on to it - PERIOD. YOU tried to force the updater to update to a version that did not exist, that is YOUR FAULT.

That being said, in normal circumstances, runnig the command like he did on his latest OB install should yield the typical "version already is up to date" message and end the process instead of reverting back to some previous arbitray build. He does have a point here.

Getting bored waiting, had to pull out my calculator...This thread has had an average of approximately 3.186646433990895 minutes between posts since it started 3 days ago. Think it’s down to a fraction of that in past 12 hours. Come on update, my fingers are getting tired!!

Exactly. Adding the "@openbeta" command is a valid and official way to update the Release version to OpenBeta for those people (including myself) who do not want 2 seperate DCS installations on their PC.

Here's a mean Cat for you!

caterpillar-gp15.jpg

The Hornet is best at killing things on the ground. Now, if we could just get a GAU-8 in the nose next to the AN/APG-65, a titanium tub around the pilot, and a couple of J-58 engines in the tail...

Did you do that by forcing the updater? If you did you're going to have a sad time when you realise it's regressed your install to 2.5.1

2.5.1 Flanker.

What variant of the Hornet is this?

I would have also accepted "this is a Hornet thread not an F-14 thread"

Is that a Maine Coon?

Looks like a F-18P Panther ...

I don't need no stinkin' GPS! (except for PGMs :D) :pilotfly:

Wrong again....

Calm down son.

This is both a) the documented procedure and b) worked perfectly in the past. Bignewy's vague caution came after several of us had apparent success with the official update procedure.

Are you suggesting that the official updater regressing us to a previous version is expected behaviour?

You're aware of course that DCS does this behind the scenes the first time you launch it each day?

No Hornet yet, but the Arabian temperatures of way over 30°C / 86°F is here already. It needs to be about 20% cooler though, still don't get how they're even able to just live down there, feels like being roasted in hell right now dealwithit.png

that's my cat, the OP cat in this thread reminded me of her a bit. She's the most loving cat I have had, more loyal than my rescue dog, she sits/sleeps on me almost every night, and is jealus when my girlfriend comes to stay, sticks to me like glue. We physically have to shut her out *at times*
