Yeah! With that price they could at least include a personal foot massage and 10 hours of personal training in the Tomcat. Geez, we're barely getting anything... :music_whistling:

Or at least the four Forrestal class variants. Oh, wait..

i386DX40@42 MHz w/i387 CP, 4 MB RAM (8*512 kB), Trident 8900C 1 MB w/16-bit RAMDAC ISA, Quantum 340 MB UDMA33, SB 16, DOS 6.22 w/QEMM + Win3.11CE, Quickshot 1btn 2axis, Numpad as hat. 2 FPH on a good day, 1 FPH avg.

DISCLAIMER: My posts are still absolutely useless. Just finding excuses not to learn the F-14 (HB's Swansong?).

I have a question, Can you play single player as RIO or just as pilot?

Both. If you play in RIOs seat, AI-pilot flys the tomcat. (Forgot the name heatblur has mentioned)

Pilot AI's name is Iceman.

As the AI in the front seat will only have limited functionality/capability, you probably won't be able to fly the whole mission as a RIO when in single player mode.

EDIT: intended use it to probably hop in the back from time to time, to do some fine tuning to what you want the RIO to be doing.

Modules: FC3, Mirage 2000C, Harrier AV-8B NA, F-5, AJS-37 Viggen, F-14B, F-14A, Combined Arms, F/A-18C, F-16C, MiG-19P, F-86, MiG-15, FW-190A, Spitfire Mk IX, UH-1 Huey, Su-25, P-51PD, Caucasus map, Nevada map, Persian Gulf map, Marianas map, Syria Map, Super Carrier, Sinai map, Mosquito, P-51, AH-64 Apache, F4U Corsair

My only complaint: I hope the Jester AI command menu is still work in progress, because I think it is way too big. It shouldn't block your view every time you want to talk to your RIO.

Or at least transparent.

Yep. When I first saw the trailer everything was wow until the Jester menu popped up. It could be a little more discreet or perhaps have voice activated options?

I also hope they make the menu into a normal vertical list rather than a radial menu. Radial menus are, in my opinion, only practical on console games where you select the option with a small analog stick.

When you are supposed to press a number key, it's much easier to find the correct option if it's listed vertically.

A minor thing perhaps, but I hope they take a look at it.

I'm hoping that the menu is compatible with Voice Attack and/or Vaicom Pro, so that we can just tell the RIO what we want them to do, without having to press any keys.

In VR, that would be especially useful.

That's what I hope too. Being able to set up macros to control Jester by voice command would be a great approach. A simple key press for each command would enable us to adapt Voice Attack or any similar app. Very elegant solution.

Looking at the ED Flight Controller survey maybe the menu is optimized for the small analog stick of the TM Warthog HOTAS?

Does the F-14 have a no shoot cue like the F-15 for friendly aircraft? The Hornet square/diamond method is a bit of a mess.

Yeah, maybe. However, I think that would feel a bit awkward. I guess we'll just see how it works out once the module comes out, but for me the most important thing is to make the menu smaller (adjustable in specials menu would be perfect) and not fill the entire screen. And maybe a slider for transparency as well.

This module looks awesome!

Does anyone know if the new way to command the AI pilot or back seat also works when flying in VR?

I cannot wait to fly the F-14 in VR!

Just ordered F-14... Now waiting for the release :-)
