OnlyforDCS Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 Dang. Too late for me ;) Current specs: Windows 10 Home 64bit, i5-9600K @ 3.7 Ghz, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB Samsung EVO 860 M.2 SSD, GAINWARD RTX2060 6GB, Oculus Rift S, MS FFB2 Sidewinder + Warthog Throttle Quadrant, Saitek Pro rudder pedals.
cercata Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 Me, it's not a good idea learn to drive with a 1970's Ferreri :pilotfly:
norbot Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 I'm not going to buy it. Already have the F/A-18 which gives me enough to learn and train. I simply don't have the time to fly two different aircraft with such a high complexity. DCS is a good sim, but I have other things in my life to do besides "flying". :)

Eaglewings Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 Too late for me too. I have the Hornet, a favorite for me considering that she is gotten better with new features added. Heatblur did a great job on the F-14 with the first RIO(Jester) feature The D or the sparrow hawk variant would have been a much more easier buy for me. Not really a fan of analog cockpit but Jester convinced me to buy it. Manuel_108 Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 I don‘t like the F-14 cockpit per se, although I must say the jet itself looks absolutely gorgeous, one of my all time favorites. I bought it purely for the flight model. (The LANTIRN is a nice bonus too!)
Flamin_Squirrel Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 I don‘t like the F-14 cockpit per se... Aww. I'm having the F-14 cockpit prescribed as part of my treatment for being a HUD cripple :D
Alicatt Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 Bah, at least the used aircraft dealer could have given the cockpit a spruce up before putting on sale ;) Sons of Dogs, Come Eat Flesh Clan Cameron
Nooch Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 I'm already dedicated to flying the Hornet and I don't want to wander off too much. I'll be buying the Tomcat eventually though. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Dino Might Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 Love me some analog instruments. The F14B is about as computerized as I prefer. It is the perfect blend of everything I want in a module. This one will be quite difficult to beat. Flight model Multicrew Carrier capable Insanely good looks Sound
Swordfish Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 Finding I cant be bothered to fly the hornet atm. Much preferring older jets like Mig19. Tomcat is a good mixture of old and new - so I bought it. I prefer instruments to HUD
Cytarabine Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 Don’t get me wrong I love my Hornet, but she’s no looker and has a distinct lack of personality, but she sure as heck is versatile. Find myself more in the Mirage nowadays, can’t do as much but she’s a looker and has some personality. Still the FBW system does make me feel that this is what it would look like if an A320 was turned into a fighter jet. (I spend a lot of time in autopilot flying her with the trim hat) The Tomcat strikes a cord. She’s a looker and that mix of powerful avionics with pre auto everything charm just drew me in. Can’t wait to put her in a flat spin. Next step has to be a Phantom right ;)
Raisuli Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 Wait, what? There are no power-ups floating down on cute little pink parachutes that you have to fly into to get extra missiles? What kind of silly crap is this? Now I'm sorry I wasted the money. Besides, I fly sims because I don't have any friends. Been that way since A2FS1, and not much has changed other than the graphics are marginally better now.
firmek Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 MiG-28 pilots are the only ones that won't buy F-14 :) Besides the obvious animosities to F-14, they're still waiting for a full fidelity MiG-28 (the real one, not F-5E with the MiG-28 livery) coming to DCS. Other than that, good luck to the DCS download servers tomorrow :) F/A-18, F-16, F-14, M-2000C, A-10C, AV-8B, AJS-37 Viggen, F-5E-3, F-86F, MiG-21bis, MiG-15bis, L-39 Albatros, C-101 Aviojet, P-51D, Spitfire LF Mk. IX, Bf 109 4-K, UH-1H, Mi-8, Ka-50, NTTR, Normandy, Persian Gulf... and not enough time to fully enjoy it all
Brett Sinclair Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 Me! My current system cannot handle 2.5. I'll upgrade it and get the Tomcat then.
Eldur Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 Me! My current system cannot handle 2.5. I'll upgrade it and get the Tomcat then. That'sd be the only real reason not to buy it...
cercata Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 they're still waiting for a full fidelity MiG-28 (the real one, not F-5E with the MiG-28 livery) coming to DCS. No way of making a full fidelity Mig-28, it's a top secret plane, we only know it exist because they took a picture of one in 1986 ...
CarbonFox Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 I'm holding off on getting the Tomcat for now. Have alot of RL stuff going on and I don't have time right now to put into learning a module as complex as the F-14 appears to be. I still look forward to seeing them in action on the MP servers. F/A-18C; A-10C; F-14B; Mirage 2000C; A-4E; F-16C; Flaming Cliffs 3
kontiuka Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 Probably won't get it. At least not for now. Still learning the ka-50. lol

fl0w Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 Man, only if I had seen this sooner I wouldn't have had begged my father 47 times now this morning to not buy it! :( Oh wow, you're actually reading this. Okay. It was a joke. ;)
