Frag Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 DCS is a fantastic platform that is heading in the right direction since the time of LOMAC. This being said, what would you like to see in DCS World 3.0 to consider it a "new release" of DCS World. Passing from 2 to 3, would indeed require some major changes. Please do not add new aircraftt. This thread is about the world itself. To consider it a new release, here is what I would personally like to see in. 1. A Dynamic Campaign. 2. A completely overhauled illumination engine, letting us finally fly at night in all its glory. 3. Vulcan API 4. A completely overhauled weather system. 5. A new ATC. 6. Few dozens civilian units (AI), to add contents for the mission creators. What is your take?

Knock-Knock Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 Well considering 1.2 to 1.5 was gfx engine, and 1.5 to 2.0 was gfx engine/terrain engine, and 2.0 to 2.5 was gfx engine, terrain engine, branch merger, well then 2.5 to 3.0 is gfx engine, so Vulcan. - Jack of many DCS modules, master of none. - Personal wishlist: F-15A, F-4S Phantom II, JAS 39A Gripen, SAAB 35 Draken, F-104 Starfighter, Panavia Tornado IDS. | Windows 11 | i5-12400 | 64Gb DDR4 | RTX 3080 | 2x M.2 | 27" 1440p | Rift CV1 | Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS | MFG Crosswind pedals |

Just kidding :D What I seriously would like to see in addition to what the OP said (except civilian traffic): - Proper IFF simulation with detailed IFF systems - Better EW simulation - IADS (already in development) - More factions in addition to blue and yellow as well as neutral/civilian factions Edited August 5, 2019 by QuiGon Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!
shagrat Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 1. A Dynamic Campaign. Single AND Multiplayer compatible 4. A completely overhauled weather system. At least more and adjustable cloud layers and way to define "static weather in zones" and dynamic weather parameters over time, so we can start in sunshine and have weather "degrading" over time, so if you take too long to reach an objective you end up in a (sand)storm in low light for landing. 5. A new ATC. Pretty please, at least fix the existing one to give consistent answers... 6. Few dozens civilian units (AI), to add contents for the mission creators. THIS! Please give us unarmed civilians of different cultural background and regions. And different country skins for soldiers, a mix of armed and unarmed civilian vehicles to represent the challenge of abiding by the ROE when a 4x4 isn't armed vs. armed! Easiest way to do this is to enable manual placement of the current AI units for "auto generated traffic". And a voice-comms-integration into multiplayer. This can be integrating SRS, or even better would be a lobby radio plus handling radio channels similar to SRS with a deep integration into DCS. Shagrat - Flying Sims since 1984 - Win 10 | i5 10600K@4.1GHz | 64GB | GeForce RTX 3090 - Asus VG34VQL1B | TrackIR5 | Simshaker & Jetseat | VPForce Rhino Base & VIRPIL T50 CM2 Stick on 200mm curved extension | VIRPIL T50 CM2 Throttle | VPC Rotor TCS Plus/Apache64 Grip | MFG Crosswind Rudder Pedals | WW Top Gun MIP | a hand made AHCP | 2x Elgato StreamDeck (Buttons galore)
beppe_goodoldrebel Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 1. Multi core and Vulkan API for better FPS 2. Better AI ( both air and ground ) 3. a renewed Mission Editor to help create content in a better and faster way 4. new weather system 5. new ATC ( I know it's coming ) After all of this we can talk about a good Dynamic Campaign! ;)
JayBird Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 More faction allegiance: Yellow: faction neutral towards both red and blue but can be set as hostile towards one or more based off triggers or parameters Purple: faction that is always neutral but may be attacked by red blue or yellow, attacking purple could trigger faction allegiance parameters like explained above. Edit: Purple would represent civilians allowing freedom of movement for their aircraft/vehicles F-14 | F/A-18C | F-16C | AJS-37 | M-2000C | A-10C | UH-1H | F-5E | P-51 | Bf 109 Nevada | Persian Gulf | Normandy | Supercarrier YouTube | Steam | Discord: JayBird#4400 i7-7700K | GTX 980 | 32gb RAM | 500gb SSD | 2TB HDD| Track IR | TM Warthog HOTAS | Logitech Pro Pedals

JayBird Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 For dynamic campaign: Ability to define exclusion zones preventing AI of defined side from entering area Ability to define no fly zones which result in faction coming "alive" and attacking opposing force. This is already possible with triggers and ai set to respond F-14 | F/A-18C | F-16C | AJS-37 | M-2000C | A-10C | UH-1H | F-5E | P-51 | Bf 109 Nevada | Persian Gulf | Normandy | Supercarrier YouTube | Steam | Discord: JayBird#4400 i7-7700K | GTX 980 | 32gb RAM | 500gb SSD | 2TB HDD| Track IR | TM Warthog HOTAS | Logitech Pro Pedals
Grodlund Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 Although I agree with all above, for me, what I am missing the most, is a more functional Infantry. It is soooo, important to many of the modules in DCS (see: all helicopters) Several Helos are more or less made for infantry support, transportation and combating. Infantry must also be ablet to embark and disembark on transport vehicles, and being able to enter buildings such as bunkers etc would also be very useful. Imagine flying Huey or Mi-8, transporting infantry. You will have to clear an area to make a safe insertion, then have your guys enter a building and extract a person. And even though some might see it as a joke, I do not - a FPS style infantry gameplay would be nothing less than AWESOME - Imagine integrating DCS with the likes of SQUAD. This has been discussed to death already, but when talking about DCS 3.0 > why not? Infantry gameplay, being able to embark on transports, with a CA ground commander directing the big picture. Machinegunners, Marksmen, MANPADS and RPG's as well as the common riflemen - with your buddies screaming overhead prviding CAS. This is what the A-10 and Su-25 was made for. Yes, Yes and YES "Your pumping days are over, Megatron!" -Optimus Prime "This calls for a very special blend of psychology and extreme violence" -Vyvian
Havremonster Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 Much more AI sea and ground units. And posebility to transport (embark/disembark) infantery into the AI Herkules planes. Doesnt sound too diffecult does it?
Jalio Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 (edited) Everything above sounds great but modern assets even just for AI would bring it into the current era and with better AI models. Better lighting too and yes the weather, pray for live weather function. An many many more call signs. Edited August 2, 2019 by Rabu added additional :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Vulkan for sure since DCS desperately needs better perfromance. Weather and ATC would be on the "nice to have list" And yes, civ units to make more complex scripted or "gasp" dynamic scenarios. beppe_goodoldrebel Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 I think we all agree ED should concentrate on "World" rather then new modules. I know that this means working for "free" , I hope that the MAC / DCS separation can change this.
