Harlikwin Posted September 26, 2019 Posted September 26, 2019 (edited) Just out of curiosity how will setting the LGB codes work? Mainly for online use part of rearm screen? Set on kneeboard? Do I have to get out of the jet with a screwdriver? Edited September 26, 2019 by Harlikwin New hotness: I7 9700k 4.8ghz, 32gb ddr4, 2080ti, :joystick: TM Warthog. Phantom453 Posted September 26, 2019 Posted September 26, 2019 Good question. Perhaps in the rearm/ refuel screen, mission planning screen and/ or mission editor? Probably default 1688 at EA though?
falcon_120 Posted September 26, 2019 Posted September 26, 2019 There is no reason to think that it will not be possible to change codes a bit later on EA (given other ACs with that option), I guess it just a question of not enough time for this release. Enviado desde mi SM-G950F mediante Tapatalk

ED Team Wags Posted September 26, 2019 ED Team Posted September 26, 2019 Hey everyone, For the initial release, the LGB code will be automatically set to the TGP/JTAC designation code. We understand that this a "cheat", but we'll need to use this until we add the aircraft and mission cards that will allow manual setting of the LGB codes prior to flight. Thanks, Wags Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/user/wagmatt Twitch: wagmatt System: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=3729544#post3729544
SmoglessPanic Posted September 26, 2019 Posted September 26, 2019 (edited) We can also take an Air to Air loadout with a TGP pod, maybe a center tank, and buddy laser for a Hornet, Harrier or TommyCat. Oh I cannot wait for Wednesday 10/9/19. (see what I did there?..lol) Edited September 26, 2019 by SmoglessPanic
Greyman Posted September 26, 2019 Posted September 26, 2019 (edited) From the LGB video and Wags' comments, it looks like, for now at least, 1688 will be the only available code. If some way of changing the code on the ground is to be provided, that would be fine for self-lasing missions but it might make JTAC missions interesting, to synchronise codes. I'd guess they will leave the code on all JTAC missions as 1688 and posssibly provide something on the rearm screen to set a different one(s) for self-lasing missions. Edit: I hadn't seen Wags' post, or subsequent ones, when I pressed send. I need to type faster maybe. ;) Edited September 26, 2019 by Greyman
Nealius Posted September 26, 2019 Posted September 26, 2019 How will MP be handled? If you have a few players online slinging LGBs in the same area I foresee some laser code conflict unless they're "hardcore" simmers who go through the trouble of a pre-flight brief and make everyone change the codes before flying.

Emmy Posted September 27, 2019 Posted September 27, 2019 Thanks Wags, But how will this work online? With more than one JTAC or player controlled jtacs. Get the JTAC’s assigned code and dial it into your TGP. Bombs will follow. I’m guessing you’ll have to temporarily take a TGP for the foreseeable future. SmoglessPanic Posted September 27, 2019 Posted September 27, 2019 Roger dodger. It’s absolutely fine for me, as I’m an SP guy. It's not that big a deal, I just want to get some seat time. It's not like LGB's are the only bombs you can drop or the only sortie you can perform. Figure this out later.
Nealius Posted September 27, 2019 Posted September 27, 2019 (edited) Re-read what Wags just posted... That doesn't answer my question, so I'll ask it again: How will it be handled in MP when most players don't coordinate or brief before flight and thus will most likely NOT change any codes before the flight? There won't be any in-cockpit workaround for casual online fliers? That won't cause a conflict with 4 jets dropping bombs on 1688 with closely packed DMPIs? And please read my questions fully before replying with smartass non-answers. Edited September 27, 2019 by Nealius

Wags said you can change your TGP code and your bombs will (for now) follow as a temporary “cheat” Edited September 27, 2019 by Emmy [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] http://www.476vfightergroup.com/content.php High Quality Aviation Photography For Personal Enjoyment And Editorial Use. www.crosswindimages.com
backspace340 Posted September 27, 2019 Posted September 27, 2019 Guessing it'll be handled the same way it would with the F-14, Mirage and F-5 (i.e. it won't). It might be time to add the ability for the online JTACs to switch laser codes - I don't think any of the major servers are using ED's JTAC for this anyway, so probably best asking Ciribob if he can add that into CTLD or something.
Nealius Posted September 27, 2019 Posted September 27, 2019 Ah, so it follows the TGP code? Was that edited in later? I only caught the bit about it automatically changing to the JTAC code. But if it's only a temporary cheat....then are we SoL once that workaround is removed? Not everyone has the time to go through all that pre-flight planning.
Emmy Posted September 27, 2019 Posted September 27, 2019 I would hope it will eventually be something you set in the Re-Arm / Re-Fuel process which is where bomb codes would be set IRL. QuiGon Posted September 27, 2019 Posted September 27, 2019 I would hope it will eventually be something you set in the Re-Arm / Re-Fuel process which is where bomb codes would be set IRL. Indeed, being able to set the bomb code in the mission cards will already be an improvment (because the way it currently works is just wrong), but it would fit much better in the rearming window, as it is something that gets set on the bombs itself and not on the aircrafts mission card. Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!

Unless we are given the option of using the data card to load up weapons before spawning in the jet, saving having to use the rearm menu. 476th Discord | 476th Website | Swift Youtube Ryzen 5800x, RTX 4070ti, 64GB, Quest 2

Swift. Posted September 27, 2019 Posted September 27, 2019 How does that work then if another player is lasing? I guess we just have to carry a tgp at all times, it doesnt take up a weapon station so its not real hardship other than the drag and weight. 476th Discord | 476th Website | Swift Youtube Ryzen 5800x, RTX 4070ti, 64GB, Quest 2
