2020 Chinese New Year Mini Update

Hello everyone,

 

We've been less active and quiet during the past weeks, since the Chinese New Year is around the corner and our members were busy with families, boss and alcohol.

Therefore, the bug fix slowed down.

 

We will re-focus on JF-17 after the holiday:

1. bug fix for better game experience
   
2. improve cockpit model/texture
   
3. more liveries and skin template
   
4. start the dev of AAR and will try our best to finish it before this Fall
   

 

The major dev/feature of JF-17 has been finished, and we need to wait for a more completed A/G radar API provided by ED. Thus, more effort will be on bug fix by our avionics team.

 

Besides, to make Mariana Map with better combat/battle experience, we've decided to add a med/long ranger bomber, more navy units for China Asset Pack:

• Bomber xxxxx ;)
  
• CV-16 AI
  
• J-15 AI
  
• Type-071 Amphibious Transport Dock AI
  
• Type 093 SSN AI
  
• Sovremenny Class Destroyer AI
  

If we have more resources and time, we will consider more units (Type-63 tank AI etc).

Actually, this was discussed with ED one year ago for the upcoming Pacific map.

If you find any other units that suitable for Mariana map, please let us know.

Hey!!! Do you want to know our plan for next flyable module?!

We've already started the discussion and investigation:

• Unfortunately, most members of our team now suffer from Big-MFCD PTSD, internally, we decide not to make a class cockpit module next;
  
• externally, we want to choose an aircraft with unique design; regarding type, fighter would become lowest priority.
  

 

We've already provided ED the list of our interested aircraft to develop next, in order to avoid any potential problem/trouble/conflict.

After the feedback/comments from ED, we will then begin the data collection and research, and then make decision. We will keep you updated.

We can say that it's a long march and will not affect the polish of JF-17, so please keep calm ;).

 

Sorry, I cannot wait to keep on drinking. :drink:

And hmmm only operational H-6 I know of with that number of letters is H-6X1.....unless it’s a JH-7 type.....

Glad to hear that you took some time off, well deserved.

 

As for aircraft, as I understand it you're not allowed to make active-duty PLAAF ones, but how about a Soviet Tu-16 'Badger' (predecessor to the Xian H6) ? Two engines are within the technical limits of the game, first bomber ever in the game, appropriate for plenty of scenarios - certainly a very different kind of module.

IL-28 / H-5 Beagle would be amazing. First twin-engine cold war bomber in DCS. Sadly, I can understand if people would not like it very much.

While I am glad I am not the only one thinking of H-5, Q-5 would be a good fit for DCS. For the Marianas map the Q-5D variant would be most fitting, with laser range finding and Doppler navigation. If not that then A-5C/A-5III all the way as it is the most common being exported many places.

F-104 Starfighter - main NATO fighter before F-16, main antagonist to MiG-21

 

Su-22 Not winning any beauty contests but is an important aircraft historically

the problem with older era modules/airframe are theres not a big market for them in MP, theres an issue in DCS that discourage others from flying older era modules, and that is spotting.

Can you guys check to ensure that if there is no Liaoning, that the relevant Chinese air assets can take off from the Kuznetsov as a replacement? Otherwise, really good broad pick of assets and I'm thankful you guys are handling this, it's so important for DCS!

Does a compatible LCAC to fit the Type 071 sound like too much? I'd like to be able to get an end to end shore landing modelled from an assets point of view.

Any of the above. Cold war assets are for the win. Easier research, lower tech, less avionics and code and complexity = shorter time to get into production.... and way more "eyeball play" than BVR ;)

The JF-17 have been fantastic and the plan med additions to the chinese asset pack sounds great.

 

I do hope you go for either the J-8II or the Q-5. I would like to see more chinese aircraft if its possible.

Excellent taste! Any of this will do! Although I am great fan of the Su-15 and MiG-25, I think the best addition would be Il-28 just by the amount of scenarios it can be used and covered.

I think North Korea still operates H-5. And it seems China operated them all the way into the 21st century. There’s also the time Pakistan traded theirs for F-6. Would be very interesting. Bet the rear turret would catch a lot of people off guard
