Is it me or the game seems too bright atm, I didn't change any settings, was fine before but now its like gamma is increased.

Then just turn the gamma down?

The "best" setting depends on your display and personal taste, butI find gamma values of about 1.7 pretty nice.

Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit

DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!

I find night mission pitch dark when gamma is set lower than 2. Good to have gamma setting easy to access and change is instantenous without having to exit the mission.

You can change the gama in game using the options menu. Don't need to quit, just pause the mission.

what is your gamma setting in game?

Its set to 1.8, but it was fine before and I didn't change any settings.

My Nvidia settings gamma is 1.2

Looks like this for me

If I lover it the cockpit goes too black. don't know how it will look like on your screens, maybe I cant really represent it.

Recent updates seemed to have upped the brightness. Prior to the Super Carrier release I was using gamma 2.2 and things looked fine in daylight. After the Super Carrier release gamma 2.2 was blinding, so I had to reduce to 1.6 or so to get it to look like normal.

I also find it too bright in regards that I have the in game gamma set to 2.0 which makes the world seem washed out, but if I go to a darker gamma, the cockpits get darker and darker, especially in the area covered with shadows.

I also have global cockpit illumination turned on, my monitor is set up to 60% brightness and contrast of 50%. The Nvidia settings are as per default. It all worked just fine prior to few updates ago.

It IS too bright (like effin bright). Lowering gamma just makes dark areas even more darker. It looks really bad, washed out and blinding. And theres something wrong with forests. Some dark stains beneath the trees. I've stopped playing because of this. DCS unplayable at this state. This issues been raised before. No reaction from devs. I dont know if they even play their own game.

Many has their displays unnaturally bright. Why hardware needs to be first set properly for the image. Then software.

In VR we are almost guaranteed to have same displays between all users of same products. With displays, it is "all men by themselves".

If this were true, surely everything would be too bright for those users, not just DCS? Its very noticeable on Caucasus. It looks like a really hot high pressure day, even when its clearly not.

I did have this also after the last OB update but after deleting the .fxo and the metashader files it was back to normal.

Brrrrrrrrrrrt

I'd rather call in a Strike Eagle...

I've noticed that clouds don't cast shadows. Looks like something's missing. And it has impact on brightness. Haven't figured out what's the problem yet. Drivers maybe?

I have everything up to date, and yep clouds don't cast any shadow, but that maybe a huge impact on fps.

I had the missions designed in previous versions. I've created new missions in newest version and suddenly cloud shadows reappeared. It's a little better now but still it's too effin bright and Caucasus still looks like shit.

I suggest to reload (refly) mission at the very beginning. I thinks it's a lite version of gamma bug known from previous builds. Tuning down gamma is still required, but after reload it looks normally, not so cartoonish.

Game itself is too bright and cockpit is too dark. This is a fact for a long time

I'm having the same brightness issue.

If I set the gamma to suit the outside world, then the cockpit is too dark,

and if I set the gamma to suit the cockpit, then the outside world is too bright.

It wasn't this bad a week or two ago.

Ok. Guys. DCS is bugged. From my experience deleting Fxo and metashaders2 is not enough. Sometime game does nto recognise changed settings. I sugges to turn off Global Cockpit illumination then restart DCS and turn global illumination on. And restart just to be sure. Then again I suggest to reload (refly) mission at the very beginning. I thinks it's a lite version of gamma bug known from previous builds. Tuning down gamma is still required, but after reload it looks normally, not so cartoonish.

I did those things and now DCS is playable for me. I've also changed Far_clip value in graphics.lua to 60000 from 15000. But i dont see if it chnged something.

Game is Too Bright

Does anyone else see this? This happened after updating to the Stable version 2.5.6.52437 yesterday.

Yes, it's been reported as a bug but I don't see a response yet.
