Hi,

 

I'm curious to know how many of use the latest stable version or Open Beta and if not which version and why.

 

Please don't "judge" the reasons why some of us stay on earlier versions, whether hardware, software or personal taste, because we all have different expectations. Thanks in advance.

I use the latest Open Beta (2.5.6.55363) and I'm very happy with it :)

Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit

DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!

Latest stable, pretty decent, I noticed the lighting in the Caucasus doesn't seem to be as upgraded compared to SoH (particularly concerning runway and taxi lights), not sure if it's different in the latest OB.

Modules I own: F-14A/B, F-4E, Mi-24P, AJS 37, AV-8B N/A, F-5E-3, MiG-21bis, F-16CM, F/A-18C, Supercarrier, Mi-8MTV2, UH-1H, Mirage 2000C, FC3, MiG-15bis, Ka-50, A-10C (+ A-10C II), P-47D, P-51D, C-101, Yak-52, WWII Assets, CA, NS430, Hawk.

Terrains I own: South Atlantic, Syria, The Channel, SoH/PG, Marianas.

I use the lastest version, it has some issues, but overall I'm ok with it.

I use the latest open beta version, I know its got its quirks but I'm ok with it.

I use always the latest OpenBeta version. If one module is broken i can use another one or if DCS OB is broken i play some other games.

I have stable and open beta installed, but i only keep Open Beta up to date, i usualy hop on stable if something really bugs me and broken on Open Beta latest version.

these post to me are very silly. just download the open beta and be done w/ it. no reason to have 4 versions of the game... do you guys play other games and when a update comes out you have multipole copies as well?

Preferentially Stable. Do most flying and mission creation there - especially now that the Channel map is available in Stable. It varies but lately I'd say over 90% of my usage has been on Stable. I've been doing mostly GA flying and training recently.

 

I use Open Beta for the features that are not available in Stable and for the occasional MP action.

There is almost always some bug in the stable version that I want fixed. The open beta version almost always fixes the bug but adds one or more new ones. Given that neither version is 100% satisfactory, I tend to run the open beta to get to fly the early access aircraft as soon as possible. I got tired of burning up so much hard drive space maintaining both versions. So, I only use the open beta for now.

Using latest stable. Lighting never looked better and more realistic to me so I assume the issue is on OP's end.

I could understand only two reasons to not update:

2.5.3 for a Hawk

1.5 for performance on an old rig

...maybe if you go through a campaign it's good to stay on one working version too

I tend to use Beta tho I do have the latest release version of DCS installed as well

Not sure I have ever used a "stable" version of DCS
