resolved 2.7.0.4625 Open Beta crash at second mission load

Had this happen tonight, and have had it sporadically before as well in all three versions of 2.7 so far.

UPDATE 2:

 

Making sure the Temp and fxo folders are empty before starting DCS, and taking a detour through Settings between missions, stopped working for me last night.  I do not know why.

 

The change happened after I exited from DCS, and then started it again several hours later.

Not sure if this crash is relevant to the second mission crash, but I never had any crashes except the second mission crash and then this started to happen so here goes;

Started up DCS(steam version), went straight to Syria free flight on the Hornet, pressed ESC and started adjusting controls. Half way through, BAM. CTD. Was not flying, paused.

EDIT : I am no longer getting second mission load crashes since I am crashing during the first mission loading or in flight. I'm assuming the last small update is the culprit?  More crash logs attached. 

 

EDIT2 : Is it possible to uninstall just the latest patch? (I think it was 4.5mb or something) The game is now totally unplayable, crashing left and right.

My last crash was kind of weird. 

The game crashed during F-14 free flight loading screen, gave a "unfortunately DCS has crashed, allow dxdiag.exe blah blah" pop-up,

but I could alt-tab back to the game and start playing, WITHOUT PLANE SOUNDS. could hear the slight low frequency sounds when pulling back on the stick, but else nothing. No engines or button clicking sounds. I did crash the plane and that's when sound came back to life. The crashing sound and F2 view and sounds of other planes.

I then ESCed to end the flight and that's when DCS proceeded to crash for real. Had to alt-tab to the above "unfortunately blah blah pop-up"

P.S. The first time stamped log file was broken(?), the extracting software repaired it(not sure what's going on, so I attached both of them).

I had a similar problem: After starting DCS I could fly one mission without any problem. However, when I had exited from the mission and selected "Fly again", the mission load would end with a mostly black page with the progress message "Mission Load done" in the bottom. From there, nothing could make it continue.

The log file showed a Security error in the file "Macro_handler.lua" and a related IC issue:

Now, I have added some lines to that file to enable macros I've added to "macrosequencies.lua" for some modules. So I compared the current stock file with my customized one and found that the stock file had some minor additions and changes. I have now updated my customized "Macro_handler.lua" with those changes and the problem is fixed.

Why am I reporting this?

Well. if the problem occurred each time I try to start a mission I would say that I fixed a problem I had caused with my customization and there was nothing to report.

But it seems implausible to me that I could fly the first mission without any issues and the mission only failed to start the second time. And the latest log file still shows these two lines that suggested a problem with the macro hander.

I can't believe this remains unresolved by ED.  I cannot run a single DCS session without a crash trying to run a  second mission load.  Sometimes it crashes to the desktop and creates a crash log, and sometimes it's a crash that locks the system and I have to reboot the PC.

Many thanks to all who are troubleshooting on here.  I believe it's really on the ED side though.  The only thing that changed for me was updating to 2.7 and then the crashes started.

Wow ! played for 2-3 hours last night with ZERO crashes. I tried to get the crashes out of the way at start up especially 2nd mission start too and would not crash. Multiplayer BFM server and VR ... no crashes.

I had problems, crashes and loading time with missions created before the 2.7,

 

some have been resolved by saving the missions with the 2.7 missions editor.

 

Have you tried and also noted that ?

Here's an idea: try to create a new Windows account, log in, launch DCS (it will ask for your credentials) and try the second mission loading crash. Do you reproduce the crash?

Created a little poll on the FB group, hoping to isolate us, the few cases that have the crash. Unfortunately, though it's only an hour old post and still a fairly small statistical sample, the bug appears much more common then i hoped for. Could this be confirmation bias?

You have to account that majority of people that don't have any issue won't search for nor vote in those polls. But it is for sure widespread occurrence and is confirmed for some time now not to be our systems but indeed something in the game code/possibly windows etc. There are people here that have machines with same hardware and software that was installed on the same day, yet one crashes and other doesn't.

New account created. But it might be a few days before I can be sure of the answer unless it crashes right off. Unfortunately I have to leave for work now. Hopefully i’ll Have time later today to run the sim.

 

EDIT: Decided being a few minutes late for work wouldn't mark the end of the world for anyone. No 2nd mission crash after my first startup. If this plays out as it does in my normal account, a crash won't happen until sometime tomorrow evening or so.

Since i don't have a FB account, i can't even vote.

For me it's: No - I don't experience such crashes (still have to see my first 2.7 crash).

Well, if i was an ED programmer, i would have a hard time searching for that bug since i still have to experience my first 2.7 crash. So for me it's all fine, crash wise. Also, before release the update goes out on closed beta. I wonder if it would make open beta if they all experienced those crashes.
